Arrival Story:
I met Delite's breeder at a dog show. I was very new to the breed and was the first experience I had of any type of dog show, which was watching Delite at six months in the ring... She was tempted by tasty treats from a wee pup as she tried to get the bait out of Cindy's hand. She was jumping all around and up on her and she was supposed to be standing, sort of regal like, for the judge's evaluation. I just thought that was too cute! I followed Cindy back to her vehicle where she took a grooming table out and set it up. She placed Delite on the table and asked me to watch her because she was going back inside to take pictures with her dog that had just won BOB. (best of breed). Well, I looked down at Delite as I was petting her and she kissed my nose and wagged her tail. From that point I was smitten with her, but I could not possibly take a show dog! I had no experience with them! I had missed the part where Cindy told me that she was available as pet quality so I went home and set my sights on one of the newly born sesame pups that would be ready for a new home in about three more weeks. I happened to be on the phone with Delite's breeder later that week and told her that if I had my druthers, I would take Delite in a heartbeat. And that is when my dreams for adopting this baby girl came true as Cindy reiterated that Delite was pet quality because of structural issues. She was the slightest bit cow hocked in her back feet and Cindy did not want to breed that structure into her line. I made arrangements to get her immediately and on February 9, 1997 she came to her permanent and forever home with me. She has stolen the hearts of anyone who has ever met her, and is considered a favorite among my family and friends...
