Arrival Story:
My baby girl Delite has left to be with the other angels at the Rainbow Bridge. She was my everything… My best friend, my Guardian Angel, my sleep buddy, my dinner companion, my playmate, my teacher and my personal comedienne. Lord knows that little girl could make me laugh with her zany antics, even when I didn’t much feel like it.
I said a tearful goodbye to her on the afternoon of July 1. As her little body laid resting in my arms, I held her gently and delicately, as the last breath she would breathe here on earth was released into the atmosphere. Her little body went limp, and so did mom’s emotional strength, which has always been able to handle the toughest of circumstances. Looks like God tested me again, and this time, I failed miserably. I just kept kissing her and crying, and the vet told us to turn off the light when we left as their cue to come get her. Even after I thought I was ready to leave, I hit the lights and then my back hit the wall right behind me. I just could not leave her for the longest time.
She made so many friends throughout her fifteen year stay, and even devout “cat people” could not help but fall in love with her sweet nature, her heartwarmingly silly character, and her absolute unconditional love for people, pets and food.
The most important thing she ever taught me was the purest unconditional love that I never knew existed before. I always thought love came with conditions… She showed me that the only kind of love that really exists is unconditional love. And just as she made so many friends and so easily, simply by being a loving friend first, she also made me realize that I never had to tolerate anyone who was not capable of loving me the way I deserve to be loved. Unconditionally… Without reservation… Faults, character flaws, mistakes and all. Because of that baby girl, I can honestly say that we both benefitted from my newfound better quality of life.
Until we meet again at the Rainbow Bridge, my sweet Angel, please know that you may be gone from sight, but never from mind, heart or spirit.
Bye bye, my loving best friend. I love you so so much, and always will.
