Summer Tag Game

Hey pals!!!

I've been tagged by my pal Freckles for a summer game. You know what else? Caileigh was tagged by Saphira. She's very excited about her first game . . . and it gives me a chance for some peace. That girl is always wanting to play. I'll help her out with the question but at least she won't be nipping at my jowls and ears.

So here we go with my questions.

1. Do you ever wake your parents up in the night?

Never!!! In fact I get mad at my folks if they wake me up. I'm a good sleeper and I love to sleep in. Dad's alarm goes off but I don't move at all. Not until it's time to take him to the train.

2. Do you ever tear up things?

Not really anymore. I used to tear up newspapers and my stuffies. I also used to chew on electronics and books. I'm 4 years old now and very mature. My tearing days are in the past.

3. What is your favorite treat?

I love liver treats. I love chicken, but I don't really consider chicken a treat because i get it so often. I love sharing pepperoni with Dad.

4. Can you fetch something when asked to do so?

Not really. I'm a pointer not a retriever. Sometimes we'll play ball and I bring it back but I don't drop it right at Dad's feet. He has to chase me a little to get me to drop it.

5. Have you ever lived any place other than where you live now?

I've lived in three houses. First when I went to live with my folks we lived in a townhouse. Then we moved around the corner to a detached house. After a year and a half we moved a few blocks over to the exact same house, it just looks different on the outside. Can you believe that? My folks are crazy. They bought the same house just a few streets over. Just other day Dad had a moving truck and he was putting furniture in it. I said to Caileigh, "here we go, we're moving again." We weren't moving, Dad was just loading up the house to stage one of Mom's listings.
The good things is we have always lived in the same awesome neighbourhood. Surrounded by trails and wildlife and open fields.

So there you have it. I'm going to help Caileigh out with hers and then we'll send out a message to the pups we'll tag.

Thanks for tagging me, Freckles.

It's Not Polite To Point

. . . unless you're a pointer!!

Yesterday, Mom, Dad, my new niece Caileigh and I took off on our trails for a early evening stroll.

Caileigh sure is a fast learner. She just loves the trails. Hey, who wouldn't?

She's always watching me and trying her hardest to keep up, but my legs are much longer and when I'm in my element, I only have eyes for critters.

My Mom had my leash and Dad had Caileigh. At one point during the walk, I was up ahead and we came to a bend in the trail. I paused as I peered around the bend. Right there in the middle of the trail was a big, fat rabbit.

I turned and looked back at Cailiegh. "Come on, girl!" I barked. "This is what we live for," I continued.

Where was Caileigh you might ask. Well, she was off to the side of the trail taking a header into the tall grass. Dad stood over her while she flopped on her back and squirmed. She was looking up at him with her puppy-dog eyes.

"Oh geez!" I stammered. All the times she should be watching me. Learning by example and she's rolling in the grass. I turned back to the rabbit and "SNAP" into my point I went. Frozen, rigid, unbending, focused.

Caileigh? She was still in the grass rolling.

By the time she pulled it together and approached my statue-like, glorious point, the rabbit hopped away.

Next time, kid. Next time.

My birthday present . . .

Hey Pals,

I'd like to take this opportunity to give a big bark-out to my pal, Ernie George. I know a lot of you are friends with him.

EG, me and my family love you and yours and our thoughts are with you. You are the Dogfather of Sunset Blvd, but more importantly, you're the Dogfather of our hearts.

Back in May a few of you may remember that on my birthday, Dad told me that my big present was coming in 8 weeks.

Guess what? Eight weeks have arrived!!!

On Saturday we went and picked up my niece, Caileigh.

Oh she's a heartbreaker!!!

She's following me around and asking me all sorts of questions. Dad told me that I have a new job. I'm to be her mentor. I think this is going to be fun.

We've already gone on a few walks on the trails. I have to say, she's very cool. She hasn't bugged me at all. It's been really great.

So pals, head by her page. I've told her all about Dogster and she can't wait to be friends with all of you.

Tagged for a new Summer game

A sweet angel pup named Talia tagged me for a new summer game. I'm sure Rosie must have directed her my way. She knows I love games.

Here's how you play: There are five questions for you to answer, and then you tag your pals (as many as you like!), inviting them to answer the questions in their diaries and then tag their friends!

The only new rule is...if a pup pal has been tagged by ANY OTHER PUP they CANNOT be tagged again. (No repeat tagging) So, let's start and have some summer fun. TAG YOU'RE IT!!

HERE WE GO!!!

1. WHERE DO YOU SLEEP AT NIGHT?

I sleep in bed with Mom and Dad. Lately, I've been getting a little hot and as a result I've headed to my own bedroom and my bed. You really can't blame me. I get to stretch out and have the bed all to myself.

2. DO YOU HAVE A NICKNAME(S) THAT YOUR PAWRENTS CALL YOU?

Oh yes. Both Mom and Dad call me The Rye Rye. Dad also calls me Mr. Barky Von Schnauzer or Barky for short. My pal, the O-Man calls me Riley-Rilerson. My pal Ately and I refer to ourselves as the "Ley" brothers because both our names end in "ley".

3. NOW THAT IT'S SUMMER, WILL YOU BE GETTING MORE COLD TREATS LIKE FROSTY PAWS, ICE CUBES OR ICE CREAM, ETC.?

Ice cream for sure. Just last night I got to finish off Mom's milkshake.

4. NOW THAT SUMMER IS HERE, DO YOU HAVE A SWIMMING POOL YOU USE WHEN ITS HOT?

No way. No how. I don't like to get wet. Just yesterday I was running like a mad man and Dad saw me drop and roll. Well, I guess it wasn't the most pleasant thing to roll in, but I liked it. Dad cut our walk short and I got a bath. Sometimes my Dad can be very stern. Last night was one of those times.

5. WHAT'S ONE THING YOU DO THAT DRIVES YOUR PAWRENTS CRAZY?

I don't do anything that drives my pawrents crazy. I'm the best boy ever. Deep down I know Dad wishes he could be just like me.

I'll have to think about who I will select. I don't want to repeat.

Enjoy pals and I'll update later with my selections.

Okay, I'm going to select the following pals to play.

1. Mr. JackFreckles
2. Atley
3. Flicka
4. Oliver Louis

Merlin The Sorcerer

Yesterday Mom, Dad and I went on a little road trip. We headed to Guelph to visit an Ibizan Hound named Merlin.

Merlin will be boarding a plane today and heading to Moncton, New Brunswick where he will live with his new family, most notably with fellow Ibizan Priscilla.

We've never met an Ibizan before and we were all very excited. Those of you who are pals with Miss P, know she's a smooth coat Ibizan and her colouring is a shade of orange with white striping.

Merlin has a wired coat and he's more a beige/sandy colour. We also met Merlin's Dad, Oberon. Yeah, can you believe it? He has the same name as the coyote from Cookie's Sirius Rising adventure. How cool is that?! We also met Merlin's grandma, Medea.

Oberon is a long coat and Medea was white in colouring. You can check out the photos on my page. We didn't know that there were so many variances within the Ibizan world.

Getting back to Merlin. He was very shy at first. Cautious of Dad. I was still in the car, watching with my head out the sunroof. Merlin was very interested and keep looking at me. I think he wanted to try having his head out the sunroof.

This was the first time that Merlin had left his home and gone on an adventure. He was a little nervous and unsure of what was going on. He trotted around the yard with a wonderful bounce in his step. His tail is long and curls at the tip. You know what else, he has a very long and lean body. I bet he can run like the wind.

After a few minutes, Merlin warmed up and Dad gave him a good neck rub. He has striking eyes. Dad said that one look into those eyes and like magic he had him under his spell. BOL!!!!

When Oberon came out to visit, Dad took me out of the car and we gave each other a good sniff. I later also met Medea and we started to play dance.

A wonderful family. Merlin I know you will love your new family. Have a safe journey tonight my wizardry friend.

Mother's Day

Hi pals,

I want to wish all the Mom's a wonderful Mother's Day.

Sadly, an awesome Mom has made her way to the bridge. My great grandmother, Harley passed away on Saturday. She was 16 years and 2 months old. I know, awesome!!!

I got to meet her just over a year ago. She lived with my grandma, Fiona, Dad, Theo and sister, Miyah.

What's really wonderful is that Harley got to see the 10 puppies come into the world before making her journey to the bridge.

I've posted a few photos of Harley, but if you get a chance, please check out Cookie's diary.

Big hugs to Harley. I know she'll be loved by all the angels at the bridge.

How I spent my big day

Hey pals!!!!

Let me tell you, yesterday was just tiring.

It started with a nice juicy pig's piece. Mom and I then drove Dad to the train and we said our good-byes.

Mom and I went to my grandparents house. There I hung out with my fur-cuz, Clarisse. She's a Low Chen and we always have a lot of fun. For lunch, my grandpa made me a steak!!! That's right Z-Pup, I got my very own steak. It was awesome!!!

Clarisse and I hung out in the back yard and played, drank lots of water and rested.

Then Mom and I went to get Dad. When we got home, Dad made me a chicken breast on the BBQ. Boy do I love my meat!! Dad decided that he wanted to have a pizza because he didn't have one on Tuesday (during Lost). So I got myself a big round of pepperoni and sausage from the pizza.

I was really tired and full from all the meat and crashed hard. Mom went to the barn and when she came home I couldn't get up and greet her at the door--I was tuckered out. I sleep well last night.

I want to thank all of my pals for sending me birthday wishes. Thanks:

Flicka & Lucas

Zaidie

Last night, just as I was ready to settle in, Dad whispered to me, "Your big presents comes in 8 weeks, Riley."

This morning . . .

The first rays of the sun beamed through the bedroom window. I could feel the warmth on my nose and snout.

A rustle in the bed sent small vibrations through the mattress. I felt a soft, gentle hand stroke the top of my head and slither down my neck and back. A warm (but stinky) breath brushed against my fur and I twitched my ear.

Tiny kisses started on my snout and worked up to the top of my head. I clinched my eyes closed and gave a little grunt.

"Happy 4th Birthday," I heard my Dad whisper.

I just posted a photo of my sister, Miyah. The first photo is of her just a few days ago and the second one was taken today after giving birth to 10 puppies. Just three days before her birthday and now she also gets to celebrate Mother's day.

I also posted a photo of my Mom, Daphne, when she was pregnant with me. Happy Mother's and grandmother's day to my Mom.

My birthday is on Thursday and my present is being an uncle. Thanks sis, for the gift.

I also want to give a big bark-out to my pal, Zaidie. He's the Dogster Dog of the Week. Congrats Z-Pup!!!
