I'm thankful everyday...

...all I want is to hold you forever.
All I need is you more everyday.
You saved my heart
from being broken apart.
You gave your love away,
I'm thankful everyday,
Can't find the words to say
thank you, for The Gift.

For my Dixiegirl, with love,
from the Mom

(and a special thanks to Jim Brickman
for the lyrics of "The Gift"... for
putting into words what is in my heart
for my special little girl)

I know "STAY"!

Well, I know "STAY" really well. The Mom and I were coming back from a nice romp in the park. It was snowing, and blowing. We have to go underneath the train tracks at the end of our block to go to and from the park. It's called a "viaduct". But, no one shovels/salts around the openings. The snow had blown away to a fine covering over a big patch of ice. The Mom slipped and fell straight back and smacked the back of her head on the concrete. She dropped the flexi-leash, and I jumped back from her because I was startled when she hit the ground. I almost jumped into the street, just a foot away, where cars were going back and forth under the viaduct. She yelled, STAY, DIXIE, STAY, and I stayed!! She laid there for a while and I waited right next to her. Then she used me to help herself up. I was a good girl. I know Stay!

HELP!!! We're addicted to the new Dogster game!!!!

Has anyone played the new Dog Breed Photo Game? It uses Dogster photos, and you guess the breed from 5 choices. When you get to 1,000 points you earn 25 Zealies!!!

Everypup should give it a try, and try the Expert level. It really isn't THAT hard--many times you can guess the correct breed by knowing what the dog ISN'T. And after a few wrong answers, you quickly learn some of the new, exotic or rare breeds. It's point and click--you pick from 5 possible answers and it sure passes the time!!! (The Mom needs to brush up on the coonhound and mastiff breeds...)

Also stop by the other levels so you can appreciate all the different dogs on Dogster--we saw our bulldog pals Sarge and BabyGirl in the Beginner level.

Dixie BlackPearl was in 7th place the last time we looked--they have a "Leader Board" which shows the top ten Dogster scores, but you can also look at all the scores and see who else has been playing, and your score adds up every time you play.

Try it at

If copying and pasting the link doesn't work, they've put a link on the Dogster Home page too!

38,509 points... Help me, Obiwan Kanobi, before The Mom's clicker hand falls off!!!!!!!

We go Running!

Every day when we come back from our late night walk, the Mom lets me off the leash. Just a few houses away from ours. Then we both run for the house. Very fast. I always win. I have to wait up on the porch for the Mom. She is slow. I dance around in a circle. And sing Woooo-arroooo-oooo!

Today the Big Dad took me to Senka Park. The park where the Mom & I walk in the afternoon. There is a very big fenced area. Where people play football and soccer. It was covered in snow. The Big Dad took my leash off. And I ran! And ran! Zoom! Zoom! Zoom! The Big Dad would call "Dixie". I would race back to him. I would race past him very fast. He is slow too, like the Lady. We did this many, many times. I ran around for a long time. Then I started to sniff some trees and the Big Dad put my leash back on. I like going to the park with the Big Dad. We go Running!

I like Snow!

The other night Snow came. I sniffed the air twice, then sneezed. Then I got to work. I use my nose as a shovel. I push the snow away until I can sniff the ground. That way I can still smell the bunnies. I put my nose right in the bunny tracks! I am so busy sniffing I don't "do my business". The snow was cold. But it was fun! I like Snow!

I saw Trees!

The Lady and I walk most every night after she gets home from the "job". Nighttime is a nice time to walk. No barking dogs. No grabby kids. No scary men. Just me, the Lady, and the BUNNIES!!! I try to catch the bunnies but they are, as you know, wascally wabbits! They are so very fast. And they know all the places to hide.

Last night we rounded the corner. What a SURPRISE! Someone had planted a whole bunch of TREES! Right where the Tastee freeze parking lot used to be. Wow! These must be some magic trees, to grow so fast. The Lady said they were Christmas Trees. She stopped and talked to the Christmas Tree men about "wreathes". I stood real quiet and didn't pull away. I was a good girl, even though I was very nervous.

The Lady took a couple of pictures of me by the magic Christmas Trees. And Sunday we are going to something called a "mall". To see someone called "Santa Claus". I will try not to be afraid of this Santa Claus. Much.

I got a Ham Bone!

The Big Man scraped off all of the meat.
It still smelt and tasted real yummy.
I didn't know what to do with it.
I learned real fast!

Sending POP to all pups in need.

Thankful for my furever home.

And my furever friends.

Top Ten Reasons to Adopt a Black Dog

[ Leave A Comment | 1 person already has ]

10. We cannot clash with your furniture or clothing (and some of you actually worry about that).

9. We cannot clash with any collar you might choose either! Ditto for the bandanas; accessorize us!

8. Ease of vacuuming! You can quickly spot the areas of most urgent need.

7. We hide the dirt well (doesn't mean we don't need that bath after a messy play but your guests won't be able to see it so quickly).

6. We make an excellent "backdrop" for a second, lighter colored dog (if you choose to have one).

5. Availability!! We are available now at every shelter or rescue you can imagine, in every age bracket with no long waiting lists or difficult search.

4. No annoying queries of "exactly what kind of dog is that anyhow?" People are content with "big black dog" and don't ask anymore questions.

3. EXCELLENT night walk protection. The "bad guy" won't see us until it's too late!

2. Status symbol potential. Black pearls are the most costly you know.....

and the number 1 reason to adopt a Black Dog

Thanks to Midwest Lab Rescue for this top ten list, which appeared in their Winter08 Newsletter as a side-bar to the story "Black Listed--the truth about BBD-Big Black Dogs (otherwise known as Black Dog Syndrome)"

Tagged by Bentley and by Bubba Smalls!

I've been tagged. I guess it's a good thing to be tagged. Means someone thinkin' about you. Wants to know about you. Bentley tagged me. He was a special friend to the Chicago Crew. Hope he will be my special friend too. And Bubba Smalls tagged me. Bubba lives in Illinois, just like me. He is family to Tico el Bandito, a Chihuahua that was in the news because he got attacked by a Hawk!!! Right in his own backyard! Whew...

Anyway, here are 7 things about me. This is hard because the Lady and the Big Man are just learnin' about me.

1. I was a trucker's dog. In a big, big truck. With 18 wheels. Now I am not.
2. I chase bunnies. Every day. I never catch any. Every day.
3. I do not do "toys". I do not understand this "fetch". But the Big Man keeps trying.
4. I like when the Big Man eats. He always gives me some.
5. I race the Lady back to the house. I always win. She is slow.
6. I can sing wooooo-arroooo-oooo, and I do "zoomies". I am happy here.
7. I miss the little fat dog. Now I just live with a cat. Jury is still out on the cat.

Now I will tag 7 other Dogsters. I will try to tag those not tagged already. I do not know many Dogsters. The Chicago Crew knew a lot of Dogsters. I will tag some of them. I tag:

Sully & Socks (two for one?) 752866
Lucas (my twin) 655535
Maxi the Golden Poet 490032
Mickey, Sammy & Bernadette's brother, 322533
Sheba, LuckyLucy's Mom 761843
Damon, Arthur's brother, 766139
and TrixieMae Marshmellow Ears, WINston's good pal, 313869
