It's suppose to rain on and off all day today, tomorrow and Monday here in Chicago. So, when the Mom got home from the newspaper this morning at 4:30 a.m. she took me out for a quick walk. Usually there's nobody out that late but us. The Mom carries the warning siren Flicka's Mom sent us, and a short, thick stick that the Brother made from a tree branch for the Mom to carry, just in case. No worries here.

When we got about a block from home, a man parked his car up ahead of us. As he started to walk toward us he acted pretty drunk. The Mom said "watchhim, watchhim, watchhim" real low and quiet like. I went into my cattledog walk/crouch as we continued walking toward him. The Mom kept saying "watchhim" and I watched him BIG TIME! I didn't take my eye off him as he passed us. "Good girl, Dixie, Good Girl!"

The Mom kept walking. Suddenly she realized my Flexi-tape leash was extended all the way out. I had stopped walking and had turned around so I could to watch the man until he went into his house. Still in my best "cattledog" crouch. Just in case...

Not too bad for a scaredy-pup from a shelter, eh?
