We went to the vet to get my rabies shot and were offered to do the bloodtests that day. No HW but...I have Lyme disease and Ehrlichiosis. Both from ticks. I have antibiotics for a month and hopefully that will do it. Besides possible back pain, I haven't had any other symptoms so the prognosis should be good. Stupid ticks! Did you know they are out here year-round?! Yes, even in winter. We still got them on us in November.

The ice here is getting annoying. Our whole driveway/yard is a glacier. The only good thing is the drifts have frozen so much I can walk atop them like a mountain goat. Still, we are pacing around waiting for Spring to arrive.

Spreading the love

My charms have worn off on mom's parents. They really really want a Bichon. Who'd have thought?! Mom has looked a bit online for them on Petfinder and there are some in the tristate area...so when they are ready, she can point them in the right direction.

And it is less than a week before we move!! Dad's coming to meet the family and see mom's hometown, then they are taking off with me and Rudy to the great North East coast. Driving isn't fun but dad is the bestest so we will be ok. We are going to live out in the country too...so many sniffs waiting to be sniffed.

Let's hope the weather holds for us.

First Rudy, now me??

Finally we went to the new vet (well, Rudy's original vet) here. Got my shots so I can get groomed. Which is this week! Now mom won't call me "ghetto-cut puppy" after the disaster involving her and scissors on my scruffy coat...

Anyway, we found out I'm a whopping 20lbs! Ooops. I was 13lbs when I was adopted by mom but back then I was skin and bones; didn't even want to sit because my bones stuck out so much that it pained me to rest on them. But now mom has gone overboard and I'm a bit tubby. Need to lose 4 or 5 pounds to get back on track. Oh jeez.

Fatty fatty fluffer!

More and more

Rudy already updated about our move so I guess this is old news. Having a house is so fun. I bark very loudly everytime the garage door starts making noise or anyone comes near the house. Good alarm system, huh?

We also got new food. Mom could not afford to keep getting Wellness and she worried because our town is pretty small. But she found that TSC carries Taste of the Wild. Cheaper and grain free! She said she likes it even more than Wellness so it is pretty awesome it's available here. Plus there is a family-owned pet shop here with Zukes and other mom-approved treats.

I was super itchy at first because of the weather change. I'm a Texas coast dog, you cannot expect my sensitive skin to adjust to no humidity in a few days. But Mom bought me shea butter conditioner to use in the bath. It is working very well and I smell delicious.

kisses.

Whoops, it's been so long!

Too long of an absence for writing.

I've had many a haircut since my last entry. I pretty much always look hot and slim. Plus I smell delicious. Actually got cut yesterday with an end-of-summer 'puppy clip' so I'm pretty short all around with a mini-afro still.

We also celebrated my Gotcha Day on August 16th. One whole year living in a real home. Mom is so proud of how far I've come. I'm living the good life now!

and perhaps I should mention Rudy and I have a real daddy now. For good. We will live with him soon...it will be nice to cuddle with a man everyday!

hugs and kisses to my pals.

I'm being told that my hair is a wee bit out of control. Mom does enjoy my afro but the passers-by on the sidewalks always comment, "whoa look at his hair!" "oh it's Don King!" "what is THAT thing?" [pardon me, rudeboy, I will pee on your Puma shoes if further insults are flung at me]. So we figure it is finally time I went and got my hair did.

It has taken so long for my hair to come in since I was shaved to the skin the day before I came to my forever home. Mom trims my face and 'sanitary areas' but the rest is in full-grown sheep's wool mode. She also waited because I had to get used to grooming. Shameful as it is, I must admit I would bite her if she even touched my legs when I first arrived. She's just praying I wont attack any groomers once I'm out of the house!

Hopefully we can get an appointment Friday. oh but no worries, my afro stays; it will just be slightly contained.

I'm sure there are many other pups out there who hate wet grass yet have humans that dont appreciate pee/doodoo on the sidewalk. I have found a great solution! While walking in the grass, suddenly start limping and dont let the chosen paw touch the ground.

Then when the human is worried and fawns over you, you can get to the cement. Hold it for a few seconds to validate it and then take off to do your business.

I've pulled this about 5 times but I'm thinking the lady is wising up. I'll have to start gathering an audience around so she'll have no choice but to get me off the horrible moisture or face disapproving looks from a bunch of jerks.

I got the rest of my vaccs the other day and I'm 14lbs! Mom was hoping for a lot more since you can still feel some of my bones but I guess it takes time. Compared to how insanely skinny I was, it's a start.

Mom's friends from back north were here for a few days and ohh I loved it. I love me some men and I love me some men who give me tons of attention! I even slept on them. They called me "Mountain Goat" because I climb all over people, regardless of which body part it is.

Everything for mom's school will be over in a day or two so we are going to the beach next week. We're hoping for cool weather so we can be all alone out there. I cant wait.

looooooooong time

It's been over a month! Ooops. My typist is busy finishing her "school." Yeah ok.

We put up 3 new pics of me (and Rudy). Can you see how white I am now? My fur is coming back! I'm also not so rangey and skinny. Perhaps I've almost left my perro callejero image behind.

Things are good for us and many days we can leave the windows open without my and mom's hair going into full afro-mode. WEEEEE!

I hope all my pals are super great. Sorry if you feel abandoned by us. I think we need to have a massive rosette-giving soon.
