down at The Narrows...a creek where he can swim and along the bike trail

sitting and waiting patiently for a treat when we get in from a walk or doing business in the yard

Arrival Story:
the son of a co-worker of mine got Phil when he was a 6 wk old puppy. the son was moving to another state and because he couldn't take Phil with him, his dad(my co-worker) put up a sign at work that Phil needed a new home. i saw his face and fell in love. Phil has been with me about a month and i really enjoy him.

Bio:
Phil is still learning me and i am still learning him. he is an awesome dog with an serious desire to please. i plan to start obedience training with him at Gem City Dog Obedience Club when the next class starts on 29 Sept08. Phil needs work in manners and our eventual goal is for me and Phil to get our CGC (Good Canine Citizen) certificate. Phil is very smart and adept at learning patterns and figuring out getting around rules. he is 98% house broken and very good in the house when left with plenty of things to occupy his genius level dog brain. he LOVES to swim and he really likes kids. he likes people in general, though he needs more socialization with both people and dogs.he knows how to sit, though he needs work in coming when called. he walks well on the leash most of the time, though a squirrel at this point will make him lose all decorum...this will change :) he HATES for me to leave and we have some training to do in that area. i am going to learn the best way to get this message across to him with firmness and respect. he seems to not have dog aggression, though he is wary. he lived with a pitbull female that was about 2 yrs older than he...she was alpha and he got his butt kicked regularly...he has a few small scars to prove it. here with me he will be the only and TopDog. he is so smart and active he really needs a job... once we get basic obedience down...i'd like for him to do some dog sport, like frisbee or flyball or weight-pull. i think with the right training and guidance for both of us...Phil will be a MOST outstanding ambassador for his much maligned breed.
