Vote for me!!

I've been nominated as Most Valuable Pet! Of course, it was my mommy and daddy who nominated me, so maybe it doesn't count. But anyway you can vote for me in the MVP box on my page. I'm not sure how many treats I get if I win, but I promise to share!

It's been nice and warm and sunny here. A lot of trees have flowers on them. I like flowers. They smell good and some of them are tasty, too. When trees have them, sometimes when the wind blows they fall on your head and you can chase them around. Some of my pals in other parts of the country talk about snowflakes. I don't know what those are, but it sounds like the same thing.

Today is laundry day, so I have to help mommy. It's one of my most important jobs. I have to show her how to get to the laundry room and back, and make sure she gets everything in and out of the right machines. I don't know what she'd do without me!

Mom's barkday

Today is mom's barkday. She calls it her birdday, or something like that, but I guess she's just confused. We don't even own a bird. Anyway, daddy and I have been working on a lot of surprises and she's gonna be so happy! But first I have to go in my crate while they have dinner someplace not-at-home.

I made her laugh this morning. I have to take a pill for my itchy-itchies, really just half a pill, every other day. Mommy was cutting one, and one half flew onto the floor. Anything on the floor is mine, if I get there first, so I just gobbled it up! Mom thought that was so funny, because most furs she's known won't take a pill even if you hide it in their food. I can't see why. As far as I'm concerned, anything I'm allowed to have in my mouth IS food!

Too much fun!

Have you ever noticed that just when things settle into a nice, predictable routine, humans seem to like to stir things up? This past week, for instance. Instead of saying bye-bye to daddy every morning and then spending the day with mom, last week there were two mornings when we ALL got in the car, right after breakfast. I don't know where mommy and daddy were going, but I got to spend two whole days at the Wag, playing with all the other furs! Then we had one "normal" day. I was so tired from playing, I just slept. Mommy had to wake me up in the afternoon to take me out (in the rain!) to go pee. The next day it was back to the Wag again! I could get used to this!

But...I hope it doesn't mean mom is tired of having me around. After she went out this afternoon, I made sure to give her an extra big welcome to let her know I missed her.

Woof! I been tagged by my furiend Sheleg. Here are 5 things about me:
1) I NEVER get enough to eat.
2) I like to ride in cars, on boats, on trains, and anything else that moves.
3) I like going to the dogter and the groomer. (I like going ANYWHERE.)
4) I do NOT like being left home alone, unless I'm safely in my crate.
5) My main job is to bark at noises outside. I'm applying as a taster of human food, but no one's hiring...

Now I have to tag five friends. I pick Alexandria, Katie Lynn, Sha, Stewart and Lexces.

Pest?

Yesterday we had a lot of fun. It started with a ride in the car. That's ALWAYS a good thing! We went up to where the grapes grow, but the vines are all dry and brown now. Daddy bought a picnic lunch in the town, and then we drove to one of the places where they make something out of the grapes that mommy and daddy like to drink. So they had their picnic and I got extra treats, and there were a lot of other people having picnics, too. I met three Labradors who live there, a golden one and a black one and one that's chocolate like me. I wasn't very interested in them, though. My mind was on FOOD. Then daddy decided to let me off my leash and I ran all over to the other picnic tables to see if I could get something to eat. Lots of times people drop food on the ground, you know. Mommy said I was being a pest and kept calling me to come, and mostly I did. But then she and daddy started playing a game where they roll balls in the dirt (too big and too heavy for me), and I snuck off. Soon I found a table with food on it and I jumped right up there! The people were very nice, but mommy wasn't happy at all and the next thing you know I was back on my leash, tied to a post. When will she understand that cockers need to EAT!!!

A hot time

This has been a terrific week! For some reason the weather changed from colder-than-usual to warmer-than-usual. So warm that on Sunday we (and every other dog family in San Francsico, or so it seemed) went to Fort Fun for a nice long off-leash romp. I've never seen so many furs there! Our walks have been longer all week. It's a little uncomfortable since I'm in my winter coat--longer and thicker--but the nights are still cold and good for snuggling.

Last night I met my (human) cousin Dan for the first time, even though he lives pretty close to us. I'm not sure what a "cousin" is, but he was a lot of fun and we played a really good game of tug. He said he might be getting a pup of his own. I hope we'll see him a lot more!

Score!

I got two dinners tonight! See, usually daddy feeds me when he gets home from work. But mommy thought he was gonna be late, so she fed me. Then when daddy got home he didn't ask her, and he fed me again. I didn't say a word, oh no! Only, mommy heard me crunching from the other room, and she wasn't happy.

Too bad, mommy!

Put 'er there, Sheriff!!!

My Gotcha Day

Today is my Gotcha Day, the day I came home with mommy and daddy three years ago. It was very rainy that day, and it rained again today. That's okay, I like to catch raindrops on my nose! We're all very happy today, remembering all the adventures of the last three years.

Mommy's been busy yesterday and today changing the house back to the way it was before Christmas. I wonder why she made all those changes if she didn't like them? The worst thing is, yesterday daddy took my tree outside, and today it's gone! I never got to mark it, so now I don't know how I'll ever find it. Maybe from all the needles it dropped on the way out...

Happy New Year!!!

Afterwards

After all the excitement with paper and ribbons and new toys and a visit to Grandma's two day ago, yesterday I had to go in my crate for a couple of hours while mommy and daddy went out. And then I could hardly get their attention when they came back. Trouble is, they have a new toy. It's kind of hard to explain, but we have this box in the living room that has people in it. Mostly we just sit and stare at it, watching the people. But with their new toy they move around and wave their arms and stuff, and the box makes music I don't like and sometimes odd noises. I'm trying to warn them, I bark and bark, but they just laugh and keep going.

Today we all got in the car and went to a different dogter than I usually see. I thought we were going to the pet store--maybe for some new toys!--but inside was a vet's office. That's okay, it means I'm about to get a lot of attention. I like that. I also got a shot, but I didn't really feel it. This one had something to do with my "temper," if I heard right. Anyway, then we went to another place where daddy went in while mommy and I walked around outside. When daddy came back out I said "Hi!" and then threw up all over the sidewalk. Mommy said that was from the shot, and afterward I didn't feel too good, but I'm fine now and ready for dinner! If I can get get daddy to put away his new toy--!

My favorite holiday!!

We've been having so much FUN! Mommy and daddy went out one night last week and came home with bags full of people food that smelled so good you wouldn't believe it. Cheese and meats and crackers and chocolate! I kept trying, but couldn't get any. On Friday they put it all out on trays and tables, some I could just about reach! But mommy has eyes in the back of her head, and as soon as my front paws left the floor she was all over me.

All day Friday people were coming to our house! The doorbell kept ringing and ringing, and after it got dark a lot more people came. Some I had never smelled before, but most I remembered from last Christmas. I just knew there would be someone who would give me people food! I kept sniffing and hinting--really, I put on my very best Starving Cocker eyes, but no one gave me anything. And every time I got my nose close to something irresistible, someone would sneak up behind me and pull me away. I suspect they had all been coached! But I had a lot of fun anyway, getting rubbed and held and petted and fussed over. I was so tired I couldn't even move after they all went home.

The very next day we went for a long ride in the car, and when we got out we were up north where it smells like grapes. We went to some different places where daddy bought something in bottles, and then we had a picnic. Last of all we went to a big house all made of stone. Mommy called it a castle. It was so much fun, because there were lots of rooms and hallways to explore, and everyone there really likes furs. I had so many treats that day! And I was so tired when we got home I didn't even notice that I didn't get any dinner.

On Sunday it rained and we all stayed home and rested. I hardly opened my eyes, but when I did I could see the lights on my tree, and candles everywhere.

Tonight if it doesn't rain we're going downtown to see the store windows and the big tree in Union Square. (Don't ask, you can't even get close enough to sniff it, let alone mark it!) Then tomorrow I'm going to the Wag to play with other furs all day, and then we'll all get in the car again and ride around looking at lights in the different neighborhoods.

And the next day will be CHRISTMAS!! And I know there's a present under the tree for me from my far-away grandparents, and then we'll get in the car and go to my grandma's and I'll have to be very very good but there will probably more presents there, too. And treats!

Christmas is ABSOLUTELY my favorite holiday!!!
