Arrival Story:
I randomly decided one day to go to the Houston SPCA to just "look"... But we all know how that usually turns out haha! After looking at a bunch of different dogs I walked up to her kennel. The kennel card said she was a 1 yr old Border Collie mix and she was found as a stray. I said hi to her, and she licked my hand through the kennel. I felt a connection with her that was just indescribable. That's when I knew I wanted her. I had the staff take me and her to a playroom. I had second thoughts when she jumped on me and stole a treat right out of my hand, but I was already attached. I officially adopted her, but had to leave her there to get spayed, so a few days later I went to pick her up and they told me that when they were going to do her surgery they found a scar already there, so she was already spayed before... which makes me believe that she was adopted before as a puppy and then thrown out onto the street :[

She didn't even know how to sit yet, so I pretty much had a dog with a puppy's mind. I almost took her back to the SPCA when her behaviors got to be overwhelming, but being the dog lover that I am, I just couldn't do that to her. And now, a year later, I can't imagine my life without her. She's outgrown her bad puppy habits and is now the most loving, awesome dog ever. I always thought she was just a Border Collie mix until one day I was watching an AKC dog show on Animal Planet and all of a sudden I see a dog that looks like Skyy! It was a Canaan Dog. So I researched the breed online and I am pretty convinced that she is a purebred Canaan Dog.
