Likes:
Daisy's favorite things are chasing her big sisters around and cuddling in my arms. She also likes soft blankets.

Pet-Peeves:
Daisy is very calm. She has the soul of a Golden Retriever, I think. :) Nothing frightens or bothers her. She loves everyone and is never fussy. She isn't destructive and almost never cries (only when she wakes up hungry in the mornings).

Favorite Toy:
She loves stuffed animals that are bigger than her. She will attack them and wrestle them to the ground. Then, she will curl up on them and go to sleep.

Favorite Food:
She gets fed boiled chicken and Halo dry dog food, which she loves. She almost never gets handouts, but she'll do just about anything for a french fry.

Favorite Walk:
Daisy loves to go to the park. She has an extra long leash, and she'll run in circles as fast as she can over and over and over again. She prances like a little horse when she walks, and she likes to pick up leaves and carry them with her.

Best Tricks:
Daisy tucks herself in at night. She goes under her blanket and lays down on her back with just her head and front feet sticking out. It's adorable and how she sleeps every night.

Arrival Story:
Four years ago, I rescued two little birds. Someone had cut down a tree, causing their nest to fall. They were probably about a day old and would not have survived. I took them into my home and raised them, a boy and a girl. I'm not sure what species they were, just little wild birds. As they grew, they came to know me as their mother. After they would eat, often I would lay down, and they would hop on me and come close to my face. They seemed to like to be close to my face. The little boy would crawl up on my shoulder, getting as close as he could, and stare into my eyes. When I gently touched him, he would shiver all over and close his eyes, lightly tapping his wings. I had never felt such pure love. My heart broke when one of my dogs got into my bedroom and killed them. It happened when I wasn't home. The lock on the door had broken, and I didn't know it. A part of me died along with them. Last summer, I separated from my husband. It was a scary and lonely time. That was when I adopted Daisy. For years, I've rescued dogs, and if you look at all the dogs in my family, you can see what I'm talking about. But this time, I searched. I contacted breeders. I was trying to find the innocence that I once felt with Meadow, the little bird. That was a peace like I had never known before. And I thought I might find the same with a puppy. When I saw Daisy's picture, I knew. She was the one.

Bio:
Daisy came from a breeder in Georgia. A very nice, but dirt poor young woman had a few puppies for sale. I think I saved little Daisy from being taken to a flea market. Daisy is CKC registered, and she is tiny (under two pounds). She is absolutely beautiful, without any flaws and perfectly healthy. She is gentle and very intelligent, too. And more than anything else, she is innocent, unharmed and unmarked by the cruelty of the world. My other dogs are all emotionally scarred in some way. They've all seen cruelty. Daisy has known only love. And that helps me to heal. ... Daisy's full, registered name is Daisy Jane Dancing Snowflake. Her papers list her as a chocolate chihuahua, but she is really more fawn. Her paws are white, and just above each of her shoulders is a white patch, which look just like angel wings.

It is a cold, grey, and windy fall day. I am a long way from home. I was born in northern Georgia a little over a year ago. My mama adopted me when I was very small and took me to live in Alabama. Just after my first birthday, my whole family moved to New Mexico. That is where I live now. It's a lot colder here, and I have to wear a sweater every day, now that summer is over. I'm still very small (under 2 pounds). At night, I sleep with a heating pad, and during the day, I like to snuggle with mommy or with my sisters, who are all very warm. I love to play, too. This past year, I've grown a lot, maybe not in size, but in muscle tone, coordination, agility, and cognition. I'm excellent at fetching, and I have learned how to catch soft toys that are thrown to me. I'm very fast, too, and I love to run. My size used to limit me, but mom says I'm determined. I can jump really high, and I have learned to jump on both of the couches and mommy's bed. And if something is really high, I've learned how to climb. I'm like a little mountain climber. Mama found me on a desk a few days ago. My most favorite thing to climb, though, is mom. I can climb up her body like a cat, and when I reach her head a give her kisses; this makes her laugh, and it makes me very silly. I love to make mama laugh. My mom thinks I'm just about the prettiest little thing she's ever seen, and she loves me to death. My personality is really sweet. I'm the poster child for calm submissive. I haven't met anyone I don't trust, and I get along super with all of my sisters. I'm very calm and quite happy most all the time. I'm good at sharing, happy to play with anyone, obedient, quiet, and very gentle. I'm a good girl. I'm excited to see what the coming year will bring. Maybe it will snow. Maybe next year will bring another new home; mommy says she feels the winds changing again. I have a good life, and I am loved.

Almost One Year Old!

I'm almost a year old, and Mama is letting me write my first diary entry! I'm pretty excited! I love being alive. Every day brings something new and different. I love to go exploring in my backyard, and I love playing with my sisters. One of my favorite things is to snuggle with Mommy. I got weighed yesterday, and I weigh one and a half pounds. My Mommy's pet doves are bigger than I am. Mama says that she's never known a sweeter puppy dog, and she can't seem to stop kissing on me. I guess I'm pretty lucky to have such a good home. I am sooooo loved. I hope everybody has a great spring, and I send kisses to you all!!
