A Dog's Ten Commandments!

Hello friends! Mom came across this today and really liked it so we thought we would share it even though we are sure that so many of you have already seen it!

A Dog's Ten Commandments!

1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful.

2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.

3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.

4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.

5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.

6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.

7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite you.

8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.

9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old.

10. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so.

Today Was Exciting for Mom and Me!

Today was pretty different that is for sure! My mom got put into the National Technical Honor Society for her College and the ceremony was today. I just had to escort her you know so Off we went this morning! Gregory (her youngest nonfur son :) ) went with us and Blake (her oldest nonfur son:) ) had to work. When mom's name got called we both went up there together to get her certificate and she got a flower too. She let me sniff it but wouldn't let me eat it! Haha! After everything was done there was a big group picture and yup, that's right, I was right there in the front row with mom sitting right there! Mom was laughing at me because I put mu butt on the step and had all of my four paws on the floor. I was sitting up there nice and straight like that! I was right in the middle of the girl's feet on the step I was sitting on, haha!

Oh my dog, there were 2 tiny people there that were screaming like crazy! That scared the whiskers off me for sure! I have never seen such tiny ones in person and boy are they loud! Scared me so much that I did want to get on Mom's lap! She pet me and told me that everything was ok and I laid back in my spot.

It is going to be quite a month for my little family. There was this today the 7th, Mother's day is this Sunday the 10th, Mom's Birthday is Monday the 11th, a big meeting on Tuesaday the 20th, Gregory's college graduation is the 28th, and Mom's college graduation is the 29th. We are still waiting to hear when Blake's college graduation ceremony is since he was all done in February. It is going to be some month for sure! Mom is putting todays pictures on my page, hope that you like them! Hope that all is well my friends and until next time....

To All Of Our Dear Dogster Friends...

Hello everyone. Mom and I have not been able to as much here as we usually do and we thought that we should stop by to say that we haven't forgot about any of our amazing Dogster friends! There has been so much craziness happening here lately. We got the apartment that we were hoping for and in June we will be moving. Mom is so excited, she said that I will have my very first yard to play in, I don't know what that is yet but am sure that it will be great! There is even a puppy in the other apartment for me to play with, even though he was a little hyper when I met him. Mom said that she is going to find my life jacket so that I can swim in the pool with her everyday. Mom is also working really hard trying to finish her school stuff before graduation next month. She said that she may need a couple more weeks though since she got behind when she was really sick, the car stuff, and getting Blake and Gregory to class and work all the time. She is working really hard for sure though to try to finish. Our car is finally getting painted and will be done by this Friday.

Mom called a place yesterday to get a car for a couple days until ours is done and did all of it over the phone. When she went today to get it I stayed home with Blake since she was going to be right back. She had my service vest with her at the car place though. She came home real upset after. The guy at the rental place tried to tell her that a service dog like me can't be in the rental car. He told her that their major company was exempt from the law! Mom knows the law though and knew darn well that he should not have talked to her like that. I am going with her Friday when we take the car back and she is giving him papers with the laws on it and calling the main office at least to make a complaint since he was so bad. After she kept trying to explain the laws to him he handed her the rental papers with "service dog allowed" that he wrote on it.

Anyway, mom and I have been missing having time to look at the bark board every day like we usually do and can't wait for things to calm down and get back to normal. Please bear with us for a few weeks though, we promise that we will be back to normal soon! We will keep answering regular pawmails everyday though. Hope that all is well with everyone! :)

Hello, me again! I am feeling much better with the ears and mom's sunburn is getting better so yesterday I got to go to her meeting with her. She has one every month with a whole lot of people that do work for what she is going to school for. I never got to go with her before. We got there early and went for a walk before we went in. I was real nervous, oh yes I was! We went in and after a few minutes I was ok. I stayed right still and was real good. Mom was so happy with me! I got to have some tiny carrots for a treat, yum! Everyone loved me and told mom to be sure to bring me every time! I heard mom say that she was taking me to her graduation, I am not sure what all that is about though.... I am guessing that it is going to be pretty big though. Will let you know! Here is a picture of mom and I at the big meeting last night! Until next time.... Have a great day :)

Hello everyone! What a weekend it was! On Saturday mom and I went to our favorite park where they had a neighborhood Spring Fling they called it. There were people from the City and community there. Mom and I sat at a shady picnic table right up front. Mom had a rootbeer float and I got some vanilla ice cream, yum! We met a lot of really nice people that run the City. We might have even found a cute apartment to go to in a couple months. PLEASE wish us much luck, we will need it! Anyway, Sunday everyone was home together so we got in the car with a cooler of cold stuff and a big picnic basket and off to the beach we went! It was called Jetty Park mom said. We walked on this really long thing over the water where a lot of people were fishing and looking for stuff in the water. Mom got excited when she saw a sea turtle and dolphins. We found a spot on the beach after and Blake and Gregory put the beach umbrella up for me so that I wouldn't get too hot. Mom should have stayed under it with me all the way, one of her arms is real red now! Blake and Gregory got red too. There were kites all over, sailboats, and all kinds of stuff. It was a great day! Oh, we saw cruise ships on our way there. They are huge! Here are some pictures for you to see! Oh, before I forget, Mom talked to her teacher today and she got into the National Honor Society for her college class! She has a ceremony in two weeks. We are all really happy for her!

What a Week, Then Came Easter! :)

Wow, what a week I had. Mom and I started out the week really good. We were going to the park for walks and then two times in the week I got to play with my Frisbee and tennis balls when mom threw them. I ran and ran and had a great time! Then a few days ago I really scared my mom, sorry mom... See, since we have been so busy lately we haven't been playing like that as much. All of a sudden when I went to get up I couldn't for a couple days. Mom was sure scared and crying. She didn't know what was happening to me, neither did I though. Turns out that I was playing too hard and just got real sore. I am better now and mom and I are real happy about that. So my Dogster friends take it from me, be careful when you play real hard when you haven't done it for awhile so that you don't scare the whiskers off your mom! Mom and I talked about it and decided that it will be shorter run times for a couple weeks until we get in better shape!

Well, it is Easter, can you believe it already! I got Easter eggs and a basket of my very own with new toys in it! That mom of mine was taking all kinds of pictures again. I am sure tired out now and getting ready for a little snooze with mom. She is not feeling real good today. I don't know why she sounds different today, when she talks it sounds just awful. It is getting worse and worse as the day goes on.... What is happening to my mom???? Well, off I go to get my pictures on my page of what I did this week and all then take care of mom. Hope that everyone had a great Easter and Passover, I sure do love all of my Dogster friends! :)

Oh Brother, I Had To See The Dogtor Today...

Mom and I took Blake to work early this morning and since my ears have been bothering me yet again and I have been itchy again she decided to take me to the Dogtor on the way home. We haven't had to be there since last October and they were happy to see us. That Dogtor, they took my temperature and boy do I hate that thing! Oh the humilation.... He checked my ears and said that both of them are a little infected this time. I was doing so good for quite awhile this time, too. But we got it early so it isn't real bad, let me just say - whew! My allergies have started up again on my skin and mom ordered more shots for me so I will be starting them again soon. And oh, let's not forget the vacine shots that I had to have today, 4! Mom says that I always do such a great job for those. I say let's just get it over with you know! Tomorrow I start taking those pills again, I don't mind though. Mom has these things that she calls pill pockets that she got me. I say bring on the treats! That is just what they taste like when she puts those things in there and closes it together, a yummy treat! I think that she got the chicken kind this time! Yum!! After my Dogtor was done with all that stuff mom got me 4 new tennis balls and a frisbee! Oh boy! She hardly ever gets me frisbees anymore. You see, I am a really good frisbee chewer, oh yes I sure am! That thing doesn't have a chance let me tell you! The first time we take that to the park it won't be coming back home, I will have that chewed so fast! She throws it and I bring it right back to her but chew the heck out of it the whole time! Well, I am going to snuggle my mom again for awhile. I am feeling a little tired out and all from this morning. Hope that everyone had a great weekend! :)

A Touching Tribute To The Dogs We Adore :)

Mom found this posted today and it made her eyes water. We wanted to share it will all of our Dogster friends too. It is sad so keep a tissue close. Have to go and snuggle mom now for awhile :)

"YOUR DOG (Author Unknown)

The years go so very fast and before you know it that romping pup is
old and grey muzzled and they have sat by our sides while we read, watch TV, and work on our computers. Every so often they come and lay their heads in our laps, toss our elbow with their muzzle or gaze into our eyes and wait for us to notice them.

Take a moment now to remember what they mean to you:
I am your dog, and I have a little something I'd like to whisper in your
ear. I know that you humans lead busy lives. Some have to work, some have children to raise. It always seems like you are running here and running there, often much too fast, often never noticing the truly grand things in life.

Look down at me now, while you sit there at your computer. See the way my dark brown eyes look at yours? They are slightly cloudy now. That comes with age. The gray hairs are beginning to ring my soft muzzle.

You smile at me; I see love in your eyes. What do you see in mine? Do you see a spirit? A soul inside, who loves you as no other could in the world?

A spirit that would forgive all trespasses of prior wrong doing for just a simple moment of your time? That is all I ask. To slow down, if even for a few minutes, to be with me.

So many times you have been saddened by the words you read on that screen, of others of my kind, passing. Sometimes we die young and oh so quickly, sometimes so suddenly it wrenches your heart out of your throat.

Sometimes, we age so slowly before your eyes that you may not even seem to know until the very end, when we look at you with grizzled muzzles and cataract clouded eyes. Still the love is always there, even when we must take that long sleep, to run free in a distant land.

I may not be here tomorrow; I may not be here next week. Someday you will shed the water from your eyes, that humans have when deep grief fills their souls, and you will be angry at yourself that you did not have just "one more day " with me. Because I love you so, your sorrow touches my spirit and grieves me.

We have NOW, together. So come, sit down here next to me on the floor, and look deep into my eyes. What do you see? If you look hard and deep enough we will talk, you and I, heart to heart. Come to me not as "alpha" or as "trainer" or even "Mom or Dad," come to me as a living soul and stroke my fur and let us look deep into one another's eyes and talk. I may tell you something about the fun of chasing a tennis ball, or I may tell you something profound about myself, or even life in general.

You decided to have me in your life because you wanted a soul to share such things with. Someone very different from you, and here I am. I am a dog, but I am alive. I feel emotion, I feel physical senses, and I can revel in the differences of our spirits and souls.

I do not think of you as a "Dog on two feet" -- I know what you are and who you are. You are human, in all your quirkiness, and I love you still.

Now, come sit with me, on the floor. Enter my world, and let time slow down if only for 15 minutes. Look deep into my eyes, and whisper into my ears. Speak with your heart, with your joy, and I will know your true self.

We may not have tomorrow, but we do have today, and life is oh so very short.

So please--come sit with me now and let us share these precious moments we have together.

- Love, on behalf of canines everywhere.
Your Dog"

I Went To Mardi Gras!

Hello everyone! What a time we had at Mardi Gras! We got there really early because we wanted to make sure that we got a spot for everything before the huge crowds got there. We found a bench right where the parade would pass us and right next to the concert stage. Well, we sat there for a few hours so that we would not lose our spot. That was sure a long time, but worth it! Before the parade started there were at least 20 people on these HUGE legs that came out, mom called them stilts. Holy wow, they were the talest people I have ever seen! They scared me so that I had to bark once or twice! The guy that I barked at was SO nice though about it! See, he was stopping at all the benches to talk to the people and he was at the one right before ours. Well, I got scared that he was coming to us next! When the person at the other bench said something to him about me barking he looked right at them and said, "Hey he is just doing his job and not doing anything wrong!" then he told them "If I was small like him and working and saw someone like me coming near my person I would get scared and bark, too!". The other people didn't say anything else after that, but I only gave out one or two barks anyway. When the parade started I sat right there and watched the whole thing, mom was laughing because she thought I would try and hide under the bench, but no way! These people that were on the floats kept throwing these things at us when they saw me, mom said they are called beads and she would keep putting them around my neck when she got them. Then after the parade was done and we stood up this Mardi Gras worker came over and handed mom a handful of beads for her, he said that he wanted to make sure that she had some too because he figured that she couldn't run out and get them when they were throwing them! Then we saw the concert of Collective Soul. Mom was VERY happy to see that. I just laid on the ground next to her, we found a spot next to a building where people were not walking through. After we all went home. Here is a picture that mom put together to put here. Hope that you like it and that you had a great weekend also. Today mom is very sore and we are both tired and resting! :)
