Hey, everyone, I just wanted to pop in and wish you all a Merry Christmas.
I am doing great up here...EVERYONE loves my talking and my pranks are even mre welcome. Strange place, huh?
At any rate, I would like to mention to Jones that his attempts to "take over" for me in the kennel are not appreciated! Don't forget, grandson, I can see all and especially, HEAR all now!!!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!!!

Happy Birthday, Lukie!!!

Ah, Lukie.... we still miss you more than ever!!! Your daughters Hilda and Lola, and great grandson Jones try their best to keep up the family reputation but they can only stand in your shadow.
I can't believe it was a year ago that you crossed the rainbow bridge... seems like just yesterday. And, next week you would have been TEN years old.
Goodbye, my friend. You are gone but NEVER forgotten!!!!

As you know, my Mom has lots of dogs and she loves all of us, but... she loves me the best!! Here in her own words is why:
Ah, Lukie... you WERE the best!!! You always kept us all entertained with your pranks and the silly things you did. You were truly a person in a dog's clothes. You were the epitomy of what a good French Bulldog is supposed to be... you were good looking, had a great temperament, you were a perfect loving companion always, and best of all, you made me laugh, and laugh, and laugh!!!! Ah, Lukie, I still miss you!

Peace on Earth!!!

Let there be peace on Earth and let it begin with us!!! Mom says that us dogs are actually more peaceful than many humans!

We want to wish everyone a most Happy, Healthy Holiday Season. May all your wishes come true, but most of all, may you enter the new year with a renewed feeling of love and compassion for all our fellow living creatures, be they human, or canine, or feline, or any. May we all do our part to conserve and protect our world so that it will be as we know it for future generations to come. May we all leave the petty and bickering behind and welcome the coming year as a new chance to put forth our best!!!

Happy Howladays from our family to yours!!!

Still missing me...

Mom read every single one of my diaries this weekend. She said she was sooo happy to have a record of all my pranks and stuff. She said without Dogster, she would have nothing.
I heard her and Julie talking the other day... I forget what started it... some dog came in with a really neat toy, I guess, and Julie told Mom she wished I was still here cuz I would have LOVED that toy!! Yup... I sure would have!! I loved most any toys, but especially my Build a Bear little white Westie dog. He sure could take a licking and keep on ticking!!! Mom put it way up on a top shelf in the kennel and none of the other girls dare to give it to any other dog... maybe Lola can have it when she grows up???
Mom said Louie reminds her of me lots now. I guess he has that cocky Frenchie attitude that I had and that I gave to my grandson, his dear old daddy, Jones. Poor Louie is probably going to have serious issues... Jones is even worse than I was about vacuum cleaners and hair dryers and cats... especially cats!! I could sure get them all hissing and scratching when I went into the cat room... Jones can do that without even getting all the way into the room...and, he has the scars to prove it, hehehe!
Louie is still to young to know about his singing voice. Mom says he can make some pretty awful noises, but true singing takes an adult voice to perfect! Now, that is one thing that Jonesie never learned how to do... he can break glasses but only cuz everyone smashes them in their hurry to get away from his sounds... true talking and singing is an art, and I was THE true artiste!!!

My Birthday and a Diary pick...

Wow, I come up here across that rainbow bridge and Dogster FINALLY gives me a diary pick!! Figures. And, today would have been my 9th birthday as well. I sure hope Mom is giving out some bully sticks in my honor down there!!!
Meanwhile, we shall party hearty up here. It's the perfect temperature and the perfect weather... a perpetual crisp Fall day here. You remember how much I loved those days, especially with a few leaves blowing around for me to chase. My kind of weather!!
I guess Mom is going to look at my babies in a few weeks. She already decided she is naming my daughter Lola, and Tula's Mom is keeping my son and is naming him Luke after me. That's nice, huh? Maybe he will get a page on here, too?? I am sure Lola will. Mom says she hasn't had a Frenchie puppy to raise in over five years... now she will have two of them!!! Her last one was Hilda, believe it or not, and Hilda was/is my daughter, too!
Well, I better go now, it's time for our spa treatment. It IS pretty comfy up here!!!

Thank you, Lukie...

Now that I am home again, I am actually realizing that Luke is gone. I was sure he would be greeting me with his yodel when I walked into the kennel this morning. Somehow we expect our pets to at least warn us before they are going to pass and Luke did not... he never missed a meal and when I left Wednesday, he was his normal, active self. He never missed a trick... and I had no idea he was soo sick. Since I wasn't here, it still somehow seems like he is just away visiting somewhere and will be home soon.
Luke had the most outstanding personality and temperament of any Frenchie I have ever known. He not only talked with his voice, he also talked with his eyes and with the movements of his head. If you have read any of his diaries, you know what a prankster he was. They say that dogs don't think but I KNOW Lukie knew exactly what he was doing! He had a way of crouching down and bobbing his head and when he did that you knew something was coming. As frustrated as we all would get when he did his "break outs" from his kennel, we all ended up laughing at his antics, since somehow, he made it all seem like it was our fault that he managed his escapes. Hey, I guess it was... his most famous trick was to toss his food dish around, banging it on the floor and making a huge ruckus, then he would bolt out when you opened the door to pick it up. He knew exactly how long to stand still to convince you that he wasn't going to bolt out... he would always catch you off guard...no matter how quick we were, he always won! It always seemed like he knew all our moods... if we were tired or stressed, he was a perfect gentleman. If we needed cheering up, he pulled some great new prank and made all of us laugh. The kennel will never be the same without him there!
I want to thank all of you for your kind expressions of sympathy. He wasn't just a dog... he was THE Lukester!!!

His final prank....

Sadly, Lukie crossed over the rainbow bridge last night. True to form, he did it while I was away, knowing it might somehow be easier for me that way.
We will miss our Lukie terribly... he was the end of an era for my involvement in Frenchies. Hopefully, it will also be the beginning of a new era with his newborn daughter and his great great grandson to carry on his legacy.
Luke was going to be nine years old next Tuesday. While not really old, it IS considered older in terms of Frenchies. Perhaps we will never know what happened, but it is likely that he had a tumor on his kidney and it finally got big enough to cause his sudden sickness and death. Luke was a healthy, happy boy and lived his life to the fullest. His favorite joy was to make people laugh, and he sure knew how to do it and do it well. We shall all miss our Lukester, the prankster. God Speed, my friend, God speed.

Praying for the Lukester

We got a call this morning while camping that Luke is very, very sick. It was unknown what the problem was, but he has a high fever and bleeding in his urine, as well as serious respiratory problems. The vet was hoping he had a UTI or a kidney infection so they started him on antibiotics and diuretics and supportive fluids. Well, she called tonight and sadly, he is now much worse. His fever is higher and he has no bladder or bowel control. Antibiotics were changed and we are hoping for some improvement by morning.
Everyone, please pray for our Lukie's speedy recovery!! Thank you!
