Why I will never visit Light Street Animal Hospital in- Baltimore, MD again...

Poor Sammy. Mommy wanted to take him to the park in NY over Thanksgiving but he hadn't had his shots yet, so she canceled his scheduled rabies and vaccinations at Dr. John C. Trujillo, DVM's office in Baltimore and took him to a vet in NY instead. Everything went well at first; the new vet was very nice, EXCEPT Mom and Sam ran into a big problem when they came back to Baltimore! Light Street Animal Hospital didn't write down that Sam's shots were canceled & taken care of in NY (even though Mom had talked to them MORE than once on the phone AND they had to fax his records TWICE to the NY vet) and they gave him the SHOTS AGAIN when he was getting fixed, only 5 days after they'd already been done! Mom was in such a rush to make her train to work, she signed a paper they'd handed her as quick as she could, handed Sam off to the vet tech, and bolted for the door, promising to call from the office to discuss the details of his visit. But when Mom called (twice) from work, no one told her about the shots, or even mentioned anything other than his surgery. Then when Mom picked Sammy up after work, she signed the credit card slip and ran little Sam home as quick as she could. Poor guy was shaking and drooling, and wouldn't even sit near Mom when he got home. Then after she walked him, she emptied her pockets and noticed they'd handed her another rabies tag, and the bill cited $73 for shots! She called the vet in a panic, but immediately they started blaming Mom for the oversight and wouldn't accept responsibility!

"But didn't you notice he was wearing a rabies tag!?!" she asked.
"We cannot be expected to notice those things." they answered.
"But I spoke to you three times and you even had to fax his records, I told two different people at least that his shots were to be canceled!!" she said.
"We can't be expected to write things down every time someone calls" they answered.
"You don't write down cancellations?" she asked.
"No, you're not the only person who comes here. We'd be writing all day if we wrote down everything people said." they answered.
She couldn't believe her ears...

Needless to say, Sammy had a very rough night. Mom was so worried her 7 1/2lb maltepoo could be in danger; she called two emergency vets and monitored him all night long. The doctor had yelled at Mom for almost 20 minutes and held his ground. There was no monetary compensation offered, and Dr. T even went as far as to say said Mom shouldn't have been in "such a rush" if she was so worries, and that it was her responsibility to tell them again that morning if she didn't want Sam getting those shots. And when Mommy yelled back, he said: "This conversation is over; leave us alone."

I believe Light Street to be a disorganized animal hospital. I understand people have conflicting views and claim to have had wonderful experiences there; however I only speak of my experience because I think people should know about not only the oversight but how I was treated. I found Dr. Trujillo to be very defensive and he offered no apologies. I will never visit this office again, and within the month I will be reporting them to the State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners. The hostility was uncalled for and their actions, in my view, were unprofessional.
