i was born in cowboy country in florida.
my owners didn't think i'd add up to much; they sold me for $40 to a nice lady who lived on a boat.
she said we would have many adventures together; and wow, she wasn't kidding!
she took me home to her wooden yacht which was at a dock where she was working and refitting the boat for another long passage.
i was very tiny, they said i was 8 weeks old; but my new mum thought i might be even younger.
she set me down on some green stuff that smelled really good! i found out later it was grass; i had never been outside before.
when she took me down below on our new home, i had a big surprise!
there was another dog there who looked like me!
his name was teddy, he was 3 years old and he said he had asked mum to find him a friend because he was lonely without a playmate.
i liked teddy right off the bat, but as the years rolled by, i grew to love him more and more. he let me tell him what to do; i like being the boss!
we soon all set sail and teddy taught me to be as good a sailor as he was.
we sailed over 12,000 nautical miles over the years; i love sailing!
i love the adventures we had too; running and swimming on beautiful tropical beaches everyday; and once teddy and i even climbed an extinct volacano on nevis, (well, our mum ended up carrying us on the slippery parts), and we were above the clouds in a jungle full of green monkeys and flowers.
the three of us went everywhere together.
the winter of my 12th year was my last here on earth. my life was very wonderful, so much so, that i tried to stay as long as i could. but teddy called to me from the other side, and told me he was lonely without me; so i ran to join him!
he was waiting for me on rainbow bridge with so many other doggies; it was a party, just for me!
it was fantastic to run again, free and fast like when i was a puppy!
when i saw mum was still crying a month or so later, teddy and i sent her a funny puppy to look after her named nina. mum was never any good without one of us guiding her and now she is happy again, so teddy and i are happy too.
there is a party everyday here where we welcome doggies and all of us run, run, run like puppies!

I'm glad you had such a loving Mom and had lots of adventures precious. And, I'm glad you got DOTD so I could read your story.
