Arrival Story: We fell in love with Butch's photos on petfinder.com and adopted him from Patriot Lab & All Breed Rescue. He was driven up from Georgia by a company called P.E.T.S. (http://petsllc.net/) and we picked him up in Connecticut on February 16th, 2008.
Bio: I was born in Georgia, but was adopted by a couple in Massachusetts. I really like the New England weather and love playing in the snow. Now that it's getting to be spring, I'm finding that I like to chase birds. I'm just trying out my herding skills on them. The only problem is they can fly away.

Today, mom & dad took me to my grandparents house and I hung out with their dog Boots. They love to see me and always have treats ready. When we left, we went for a ride and stopped at Tasty Top for ice cream. I actually got out of the car and went up to the window. Mom got a chocolate cone, dad got a twist cone and I even got my own dish of vanilla. We sat under a tree and enjoyed our treats. Dad said the man didn't even charge him for my ice cream because I was "cute" and "made their day." That was so nice. I hope we go back soon!
We continued our ride and ended up at Mount Holyoke College. I had never been there before - I was so excited. We walked on a path around the pond. I even stuck my paw in to feel the water. Mom & dad were really proud of me. When we first got there, my hackles would go up whenever we came across someone. By the end of the walk, I didn't even pay attention to the people. Now other doggies are another story, but we're working on that. There were also a lot of walls that I could jump on. Can you imagine, me jumping on walls? I was afraid of rocks until just a few months ago! Anyways, I was so tired after that, but mom & dad insisted on giving me a bath that night. Uggh! I don't like those, but I have to admit I do feel pretty good after one.
Today I met the love of my life. Pumpkin thinks he did too, but Cloey is mine. Mom & dad's friend Lammy brought over his 10 month old Golden Retriever and she is beautiful. We got off to a rough start - I scratched her nose! Sorry Cloey.
We played in the backyard all afternoon. Pumpkin came over too, and Cloey even went through our tunnel. All was going well, until I got a little posessive of my ice cube, and I went after Cloey. She was a little scared of me after that, but we were fine after a little while. I can't wait to see her again!
Wow, I haven't had a diary entry in a long time. My dad is still out of work, but I think he'll be going back in a couple of weeks. I've had so much fun having him home all the time. And next week mom is on vacation, so we can all be together.
Last week, we had some excitement at our house. On Wednesday morning, mom got up for work and wouldn't let me out. She said there was a skunk in the backyard. She waited a few minutes, and then put me on the leash. After I did my thing, I went back to bed with dad.
Just a few minutes later, mom came back into the bedroom to get dad. She said something about water in the basement. We had a big storm the night before and the rain came down fast. I heard later we got anywhere from 4 inches in 2 hours or 5 inches in 3 hours. Our laundry room was filled with about 2 inches of water. I was wading around in it and it was fun.
Mom stayed home from work that day so she and dad could pump out the water and try to clean up a bit. The worst part was our carpet on the finished side was ruined. The smell was horrendous. Dad and some of his friends ripped it out on Thursday and then buffed the tiles underneath on Friday. The floor looks great. Mom & dad bought a new area rug last night and I like it.
