Arrival Story: My husband and I wanted a dog for a long time but pets were not allowed in our old condo. After we bought our first home, finding the right dog was tops on our list! We researched different breeds and after long and exhausting arguments (um, conversations), agreed that a GSD seemed right for us.
On New Year's Eve, 2005, we got up VERY early to drive an hour or so to the breeder. There were only two pups from the litter left. We had the opportunity to meet Pete's parents; his mother was a beautiful white Shepherd, and his father had the traditional coloring.
The breeder let the two little guys out of the pen, and one of them seemed to like us the most. That was our Pete! We both thought it was important that our pet select us, and that he be comfortable with us from the beginning.
I sat in the backseat with a very muddy and stinky little puppy on the ride home. He was scared, but soon fell asleep in my arms. From that moment, I knew I had puppy love.

So, my mom and dad have surrendered to the fact that although I am a good boy 99% of the time, I might need some help getting to 100% of my GSD perfection. The Dog Wizard came to our house on Monday and my first lesson is this Friday night. Wish me luck!

So, Mom and Dad headed off to the mountains this weekend to celebrate Mommy's birthday. But the weekend didn't start off so great. I knew that she wasn't feeling well when she came home on Thursday night and said, "Pete, Mommy isn't feeling well. Let's go snuggle." Being the good boy that I am, I obliged her. I kept her warm when she had the chills and gave her my healing kisses when I felt that she was too hot with fever.
By the next morning, Mommy felt better enough to go on the trip with Dad, so they sent me off to camp for the weekend! Yippee! I really love going to camp. I get special play times and walks, and all of my stays usually end with a lavish bath. I was so happy to see Mommy and Daddy on Sunday when they picked me up. My report card was glowing with praise as usual, so when I got home I received lots of love and special treats!
But man! I was pooped. Being around all those other dogs wears me out. There are so many new friends to meet and talk to, butts to sniff, messages to howl...in fact, I fell asleep on the floor while Mom and Dad were watching TV last night and I started to howl in my sleep!
Even more fun in store for this weekend...my Oma and Opa come all the way from Atlanta for a visit!
