Chewing...(mom gets mad when I eat shoes and things out of the garbage can). I also LOVE going for car rides and like to play tug-of-war with my rope bone.

Being alone (I hate my crate!), not being able to eat people food.

Favorite Toy:
BONES! Anything else become destroyed within a short period of time. Mom bought me some new supposedly indestructable toys for Christmas, we'll see how long they last!

Favorite Food:
Anything!! I love to eat and I am a big fan of pizza.

Favorite Walk:
I love being able to run around free with the other dogs in the fenced-in dog park, but any walk is fine with me.

Best Tricks:
I know how to sit, give paw, lay down, and jump really high in the air. But only if I get a treat!

Arrival Story:
Spirit was found as a stray by a local shelter in a neighboring county. Unfortunately it was not a "no-kill" shelter and was running out of room. She was then brought to the White Oak Animal Safe Haven. We were thinking about getting a puppy but decided that a young dog would be a better fit for us. One day we drove by the shelter and Spirit was outside in the exercise cage area. The shelter was closed, but the volunteer was nice enough to answer some of our questions. We adopted Spirit the next day when the shelter opened.

I am now in search of what breed Spirit may be. I have come to the conclusion that she is probably a redtick coonhound, not only because of her looks but her personality. She is intelligent but VERY stubborn, has the distinctive bark of a coonhound, and is a very loyal companion. Although not much of a hunter (she missed the 5 wild turkeys that crossed the road right in front of us during a walk), her nose is always to the ground. Not to mention at the mere whiff of any food she is at your side immediately. If she wants to play and you dare ignore her, you will get a reminder by getting a nip in the butt.

I have adjusted well to my new house and my mom and dad. A few months ago I graduated from my crate (YAY!) which I did not like. Now when mom and dad are gone I spend most of the time sleeping in my chair during the day so I can have lots of energy to play at night. I have 2 beds but I just don't like them. The chair is way better, but I get mad when the humans sit in it. Pretty soon I will be celebrating my Rescue Day. Since mom doesn't know my birthday, we will celebrate the day that I was adopted. I hope I get lots of new toys!
