New family

Well, I've been with my new family for 4 days now. There sure have been a lot of changes. First, I'm not the only dog anymore! There are 3 other dogs in this house, plus 2 noisy parrots, and 3 outside cats. Finnegan is my play buddy. We chase each other, steal each others toys, fight over who is top dog. It's pretty intense sometimes but most of the time we're just running. We both like to be chased when we have a toy. We have a really big yard, something I didn't have in New York. I don't have free access to the yard like everyone else, or to the house when my new mom & dad are away. Doesn't seem fair. But I'll show them I can be trusted. Afterall, I'm a very smart schnauzer!

Georgie just tolerates me - I think she likes that I challenge Finnegan because she can go about her business without him bothering her. Molly is pretty mellow, she puts up with it all. The parrots throw food on the floor and make a lot of noise. They call Georgie, Molly and Finn. I guess someday they'll say Winston too.

I love going for walks in my new neighborhood. The streets are tree lined and there is a lot of grass. I'm used to sidewalks in Manhattan! Finnegan and I walk together pretty well, but he gets pretty goofy around squirrels. I just don't see the point in that!

I'm really excited to see mom & dad when they get home. I met Paula, our walker, today. She knows pretty well how to walk us, play ball and give us treats. I think I'm going to like her too. Well, I guess I'll stay. Besides, I have no idea where I am!!! But I have a cozy bed that's all my own, yummy food, lots of hugs & play. Seems like a good deal to me.

I was tagged today by Greta Grace - a sweet young Georgia peach of a schnauzer. She's pretty cute! I've also been tagged by Murphy, an Ontario schnauzer who looks pretty cool in his harley cap. Georgie seems to like him a lot!

Here are the rules of this dogster game of "tag" . When you are tagged, you post 7 random facts about yourself, compose a "new DIARY entry" along with the rules and put them in your own DIARY. Then you pick 7 furs (kitties or doggies) to tag but make sure you tell them... a simple p-mail will do fine, or a rosette to tell them, but you must let them know that they have been tagged. Post their names also in your DIARY.

Here are 7 random facts about myself:

I love to bark.

I am a very fast runner & retriever.

I am a little reserved when I first meet you.

I only poop on cement because that's what I did in NY.

I'm like playing with Finnegan but I'm not sure what to think of Georgie.

I love the new food I'm starting to get.

I don't like being toweled off after running around a wet lawn.

The 7 pups I'm tagging are:
Buddy Grau
Holly Berry
Skipper aka MP

Thanksgiving Tag

My pal Lexie just tagged me in a new version of the game called Thanksgiving Tag. Here are the rules:
Because it’s Thanksgiving time, there is a change to the rules. Each player needs to tell seven special things they are thankful for. Tagged dogs must post the rules in their diary and their 7 things. Then choose 7 pups to tag and list their names. Let them know by pawmail or rosette that they have been tagged and to read your diary for the instructions on how to play.

Seven Things I’m Thankful For:
1. I'm so thankful that my new mom and dad found me and let me stay after I had a tryout for the weekend.
2. I'm thankful for our fur siblings Finnegan, Georgie and Molly.
3. I'm thankful for the good food that I eat.
4. I'm thankful for my yard that has a fence all the way around it so I can run free back there.
5. I'm thankful for the doggie door that allows me to run out into the backyard but run back in when I want.
5. I'm thankful for all the toys that Finnegan and I share.
6. I'm thankful our dog walker Paula who takes us for a walk every day when mom & dad have to work!
7. I'm thankful for my new Schnauzer friends who include me in their fun & games.

I am tagging:
1. Jack
2. Jasmine
3. Little Man Mickey
4. Fritz
5. Lady
6. Piper
7. Liebe & Kalli

I'm thankful to have met all of them, by the way. I am so blessed to have so many pals!

My visit to the vet hospital last night!

Mom was supposed to be on an airplane to the East Coast this morning but....

Last night I developed belly pain! I refused dinner - something I've NEVER done before. Then I spent hours hiding in my crate, something I NEVER do. Mom & Dad thought it was because they were packing and all the dogs were a little worked up over it. But eventually Dad made me come out and I was hurting when you tried to pick me up. They localized it to my belly. Uh oh they thought, mom said she had to take me to Georgie's emergency hospital, that she could not leave town in the morning without knowing I was ok. Soooo... to make a long story short, the xrays didn't show bowel obstruction or bloat so I got to go home on some medicine, including something for pain. I got to sleep on the couch with mommy!!! Then mom got up, took dad to the airport and she came home - yippee!!! Mom plans to leave on Tueday instead. Me - I ate my breakfast of rice and cottage cheese, took my medicine like a man, and am running around with Finnegan like usual.

Who knows??? Just thank goodness it wasn't whatever Georgie had! I liked all of the people at the hospital, but I would've been very lonely to stay there.

So far, so good...

House invaders...

OMD - there are people spraying water at the house!!! I keep barking to warn mom and to tell those people to go away. She says "it's ok, they're the painters". How can this be ok? I never met anybody named Painter. Shouldn't they have been introduced and shouldn't I give them instructions on appropriate behavior around my place? Some people....

Plastic House

OMD - now all of the windows & doors are encased in plastic!!! Those people named Painter covered up EVERYTHING with plastic and tape. We can hear them and see their shadows on the windows, but we can't SEE them!!! It's like living in a bubble. I can't wait until it bursts open and we get outta here.

All clear...

Well, we finally have our house back from the intruders. And no plastic on the windows so I can at least see who is coming!!! Our living room and dining room have 3 - 6 foot tall windows and a sliding glass door...I tell you we were living in darkness!!! Whew, we can see the light of day again, and it's quiet outside. I just did my rounds to make sure no one was left behind. All is safe in Shangri-La again.

Tomorrow is my birthday!!! I can't wait to pawty. It is the first time I've been away from my first mom on my birthday - I hope she doesn't miss me too much. But I'm having so much fun with Finnegan, Georgie & Molly. Mom & dad are very good to me. Can't wait to see what's in store for me!

Birthday Celebration

Yesterday was my birthday, and I had such a good time. After mom & dad sang happy birthday to me, we all had breakfast and the usual morning round of play. Then mom took me for a walk just with her! There was a marathon running near our house, and mom decided to take me to watch, partly just for something different to do and to see how I am in a crowd. She could immediately tell that I've been in big crowds before. I really enjoyed it. All of the streets were closed off to traffic so I got to run down sidewalks and grassy slopes where I would never get to go. There were people everywhere, a DJ playing loud music, water station with dancing people, just lots of people everywhere. I met a couple of other dogs and really liked this one cute pomeranian in a pink jacket. We were the same size & she smelled really good, like only another dog could! We walked from 1 mile checkpoint to the next, and then back home so we walked over 2 miles! It was so fun. Then I went back home & played more with Finnegan, Georgie & Molly. I had some special treats and got some toys. And lots of hugs & belly rubs. And was told lots of times how glad everyone was that I was in the family. I think I'm going to start relaxing now and maybe keep these guys. I had a great birthday!
