Hi pals,

Yesterday there was a strange SUV at the end of the driveway just sitting there but didn't come up onto our property. Daddy was busy cutting baseboards in the garage/work shop and momma saw the SUV just by chance when she was cleaning out the kitchen sink.

When daddy came into the house momma told him about the SUV but it had left before daddy could go see if someone needed some help.

Today, the mystery SUV was back but this time they came up to the house and three men got out (Yes Zoe, we barked our heads off at them) and told daddy that they were from the New Mexico County assessors office and they were here to measure our buildings and property.

They measured and one of the peoples wanted to know what types of flooring and other things were in the house so daddy gave him a guided tour.

When they left, daddy wasn’t very happy so momma asked him what was bothering him. He said that the visitors are the peoples who decide how much property taxes one has to pay yearly. He said expect the tax bill to go up now that there is a finished building on the property.

I hope that doesn’t affect the amount of cookies I get.

08/24/13 The adventure of Coco Rose and Puff Darby

This morning when we went outside to do our business, we picked up a scent of an animal that doesn’t live or belong on our property.

We were both sniffing the air trying to figure out what was making that unusual smell but no matter how hard we sniffed we couldn’t figure it out.

“Come on Puffy, let’s let our noses follow that smell and find out for ourselves what it is”.

“I don’t know if that’s such a good idea because momma keeps on telling us to be careful out here because there are things out here that would like to eat us”.

“Don’t be such a big baby. Come on, it will be fun and maybe we will even get a new friend”.

“Coco, I really don’t think this is such a good idea because we don’t have any idea what it is that we would be following”.

“Well I’m not afraid so you can come if you want or stay behind”, and with that, Coco turns abruptly and trots off letting here nose lead the way.

Oh dear: Coco is going to get into some trouble, I just know it so I I better drop my stuffy and go after her even though I know this is another one of her terrible ideas.

“Wait for me Coco! I’m coming too” shouts Puffy

Coco stops and starts digging through the front pocket on the hoodie she is wearing. Where is it? She paws around and finds four uneaten cookies, a duck strip, one Busy Bone and her cell phone. I need to call some of our pals to help me on this adventure.

Demon Flash Bandit

"Hi Demon, I could use your help on tracking down an intruder on our property. Can you come over right now and help Puffy and me follow the strange scent to see who is lurking around."

“Sorry Coco, but I just got invited over to McDonalds for a hamburger feast. Maybe next time, okay”?

“Sure Demon, I understand. I’ll let you go and we will talk again later. Have fun at McDonalds”.

The next call Coco makes is to

Frank

“Hi Frank, it’s Coco Rose here, do you have time to come over to Puffy and my place to help us track down an intruder on our property”?

“It’s nice to hear from you Coco, and I’m sorry that you caught me at a bad time but momma is busy taking photos of me on the new floor so I can’t leave right now. You know it isn’t a good idea for a little dog like yourself to go chasing after something that might hurt you. Why don’t you wait until after my momma is done and then I will be right over”?

“Thanks for your concern Frank, but I will make sure not to get too close to whatever it is and I will be okay”. “I’ll try calling some more of my pals and see if anyone else is available. It was nice talking with you.”

Coco speed dials

Quincy

The call is answered with a recorded message stating that he is out camping and kayaking with his family and won’t be back until Tuesday so please leave you name and phone number along with a brief message and he will call you back. Coco leaves a message and hangs up.

By now Puffy has caught up with Coco and is huffing and panting.

“So, what are you doing Coco”?

“I was trying to call some of our big dog pals to come on this adventure with us but thus far, I haven’t had any luck. I sure wish

Abby

Or

Lobo

Were still here because they would love to go on this adventure with us.

Maybe I should call

Petey

and see if he can come out here with us". He isn't big but those Terriers aren't afraid of anything".

By now, the strange scent is vanishing and Coco’s tummy is rumbling.

“Oh never mind; Let’s go back home and get something to eat and then take a nap” Coco says. “I’m hungry and tired”.

With that, Coco heads back home with poor Puffy hobbling after her.

The End

08/23/13 I need some excitement

I spent Wednesday barking at the workers who came to install the garage door opener on the garage/workshop. They were here for hours so Puffy and I barked and barked and wouldn't stop even when momma yelled at us to SHUT UP! Really, if you're going to get rude why should I listen to you? Of course even had momma asked me nicely Puffy and I wouldn't stop anyways. Puffy is kind of funny because he always has to have the last word in. Just when you think he has finally stopped he will emit several more barks just for the fun of it. He cracks me up.

The humans have been working on the house but have made a lot of progress. Daddy got the guest bedroom all finished and also put down the base boards in the hallway. He has yet to do the base boards in the media room, bathrooms and kitchen. Momma says she is too old and worn out to be getting on her hands and knees to paint base boards and wants the whole thing finished.

The kitchen counter tops will be the last project and that should be interesting. Momma told me she thinks daddy won't get to them this year because the snows will be coming pretty soon and it is unlikely that daddy will go out in the cold and snowy weather to cut tile. Momma has been trying to press daddy to get the garage straightened out so the cars can be parked in there when the snows come but again, it is pretty unlikely that daddy will get to that either.

Well, that's it from me today.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

08/19/13 Please pass the Charmin

I’ve been wondering why Charmin uses bears to advertise their toilet paper. Does anyone actually know a bear that cares about having a clean hinny? I on the other hand have been forced to use dirt which is very uncomfortable due to rocks, twigs, insect, thorns and other debris. Let me tell you accidentally sitting on a cactus while trying to clean the delicate hinny is not something I recommend.

Now that I’ve said this, would you please put down your cookies and pick up a pencil and write to Charmin and tell them that I should be the spokes person for their product. Make sure you mention that I have a really cute hinny – okay?

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

08/13/13 Nothing much going on here

Hi pals,

We didn’t have a single Thunderboomie yesterday and boy am I happy! Here in New Mexico the weather can change quickly. Right now it is a lovely sunny day but there is no telling if the clouds will quickly come rolling in and if you will get rain, thunderboomies or just clouds.

Puffy and I are still being locked in the bedroom as the humans work on the house. I’m happy to report that all rooms have been painted. It’s a shame that the humans will forever have to repair cracks in the walls because the “handyman” and his crew did not do the seam mudding and tape correctly. Apparently they chose to save time and not use the tape so now major cracks are appearing in most of the walls and ceilings. Momma is going to work on one crack today in the living room that goes from the floor all the way up to the ceiling.

Puffy was doing better on not piddling in the house because the vet changed his medication dosage so he was allowed to wonder around without his wee-wee wrap on while in the house. Too bad for him that he piddled in the hallway and then left the lamb stuffie right where he piddled at, kind of like his calling card – BOL, BOL. It wasn’t hard for the humans to figure out who piddled – BOL, BOL. Someone should tell Puffy not to leave a stuffie by the piddle but I’m not going to do it because it would take away my entertainment.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

08/10/13 Daddy killed one of our neighbors yesterday

Yup, daddy killed a neighbor yesterday and I'm sitting here wondering if the police will figure out who "did the deed" and come and take my daddy away.

It was really an accident but I don't think there is a way the humans can prove it. Momma was there at the time but wasn't paying attention to what daddy was doing so she didn't see the killing

Here's what happened: The humans were coming back from Gallup and daddy was driving down the 8 mile dirt/gravel road towards home. All of a sudden daddy said "Did you see that snake in the road"? Momma had been looking to the right hand side out the passenger window so she said "What snake"? "The one that raised it's head and hissed right before I ran it over". "OMG! Is it dead or clinging to the underside of the truck"? Daddy looked into the rear view mirror and said "Dead! laying in the road". "Was it a Rattlesnake" asked momma? "I don't know and I'm not going to stop the truck to go over there and look".

So now all I can do is wait and see if someone comes to take my daddy away.

Coco Rose - sobbing her little heart out....

08/05/13 House update

Daddy has finished doing all the flooring in the house. Momma thought that she would help him by working on the laundry room ceiling patch. It should have been a simple job: all momma had to do was take the can of texture and spray it where the patch was.

But we are talking about my momma and even the simplest jobs become bigger. With that being said, momma aimed and the spray texture went squirting out of the can and all over the laundry room. The brown door was splattered with white texture, as was the black water heater, cabinets, washing machine and tiles on the floor. Yup, ole momma made a big, big mess and to make matters worse daddy just happened to come into the laundry room right afterwards BOL,BOL. He looked at the door that he painted and then asked momma "what happened in here"? Momma told him that she had a "little disagreement with the spray texture". Daddy told momma she better get busy and clean it all up.

The simple five minute job took momma hours to clean up. She had to take a scrub brush to the door because the texturing stuff wouldn't come off. If that wasn't bad enough, she couldn't get the texture out of the grouting on the floors. The scrub brush didn't remove it so she got out the Demeral sander and sanded it out - BOL, BOL

Momma was sitting on the floor saying some words that I can't repeat here but I'm sure you can figure out whet she was saying.

Then today, momma was going to do some touch-up with that same spray can of texture stuff but apparently daddy has taken it and hid it someplace - BOL, BOL.

08/01/13 Is that my dinner on the road?

Hi pals,

We have not had a cattle problem since the cows were taken on a road trip and didn’t return right before the snows last winter, but now different cows have invaded our area. Yesterday when we were driving to the cluster mailboxes there were a gazillion cattle out in the road. Really, there was a whole herd of them slowly walking along like they owned the place and they didn’t even want to move their butts when daddy was trying to get by. Momma saw several baby cows and wondered if daddy could put one in the back of the truck and take it home with us (we do have an extra freezer). Too bad daddy didn’t want to go along with the idea as fresh steak sure sounded good to me.

The humans are thinking about getting a pygmy goat to help control the weeds and stuff here on our property. I think that would be pretty neat but momma is concerned about not knowing how to take care of a goat. Since it would be housed outside would we need more than one so it would have company? Maybe momma should stick with a couple of chickens first to see how things go.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

07/31/13 House up-date

Hi pals,

The humans have been making progress on the house. The sidewalk was completed yesterday just in time for the rains that came tonight. The “handyman” also put in a concrete pad at the back door of the garage so now all doors to the house and garage/workshop have concrete pads. This will be really nice during the rainy and snowy season.

Momma spent all day yesterday painting the guest bedroom and daddy finished painting all of the doors. Today daddy mopped the guest bedroom concrete floor so that he can put down the laminate flooring in there tomorrow.

Momma worked on patching the wall boarding in the laundry room. In case I forgot to tell you the “handyman” neglected to leave a crawl space opening in the laundry room ceiling so when daddy went to put in the attic furnace he had to cut some holes in the ceiling to find the crawl space. He misjudged where the crawl space was by about 12” so that area had to be patched. One more coat of mud on the patched ceiling and then the laundry room will be ready for painting.

Daddy will have to install all of the remaining base boards and the final project will be doing the kitchen counters.

The humans are almost done, can you believe it?

My advice to those of you who have humans who are considering building their own home is to RUN FOR THE HILLS. It isn’t fun, there will be lots of harsh words said, problems encountered that weren’t expected, budgets that are ignored, noise, dust, frustration, stress, missed naps, etc.

Daddy has been working on this house for over one year and he is tired and worn out. Momma can’t stand having all of the equipment laying around on the floors and not being able to find anything. We would all like to walk through the house without obstacles on the floor (except for daddy: he doesn’t seem to mind any of it because he’s the one who created them).

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

07/30/13 I NEED one of these!

Hi pals,

Puffy and I haven’t been on too many pupmobile rides here in on New Mexico place because the main roads are covered in gravel thus making for a very bumpy ride. Sometimes this causes Puffy to knock into me while we are in the stroller, and being the Princess that I am, I have been known to get nasty towards him when that occurs.

Anyhoodle, reading the internet news this morning I came across the following article regarding a stroller. All I can say is:

MOMMA, WHERE DID YOU HIDE YOUR CREDIT CARDS AT? I NEED TO GET ONE OF THESE!!!!

I GOT to get me one of these!!

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose
