Life here in New Mexico sure is different than what it was in California. I have experienced intense coldness, torrential rains, wild animals, and the last couple of afternoons and early morning hours, thunderboomies and lightning like I have never experienced before.
The mornings start out cloud free and sunny but come afternoon, the dark clouds start coming in and before you know it there is a sprinkle or two of rain with LOUD thunderboomies and lightning. One of the thunderboomies was so loud that even momma heard it and she didn’t have on her bionic ears.
Momma made sure I had on my Thundershirt and opened the walk in closet so I could go in there to hide if I wanted to. The Thundershirt helped somewhat because I didn’t run around in the house paniced, however I still panted like crazy and was afraid. So anyhow, around 1AM momma was sleeping and I managed to get her up to tell her that I was afraid. Not hearing the thunderboomies she put Puffy and me OUTSIDE to do our business while she went and did hers. When she opened the door to let us back inside it was sprinkling and it was then that momma saw a flash of lightning and realized why I had woke her up. She then picked Puffy and me up and we snuggled with her on the big bed. I continued to shiver and pant but after a long time I went to sleep snuggled next to momma.
The sky right now is sunny with only a few small, fluffy clouds in sight, but the weather prediction for this afternoon is more thunderboomies. Momma says although the thunderboomies are frightening, what is really scary is the lightning strikes since we live surrounded by huge trees and all it would take is one strike of lightning to set the trees and surrounding forest on fire – YIKES!
Hugs and kisses,
Thunderboomies are SO SCARY!!!!
Thunderboomies don't seem to bother me, but I guess Angel Abby really hated them. Mom also doesn't like them. Stay safe, Coco Rose.
We are skeered for you for fires. The whole western part of the US is burnin up now.
Please be careful and if a fire starts nearby - get out Fast!
Stay brave and most important, stay SAFE!
OMD! I hate Thunderboomers too! You really do have a big mix of weather in your new home....Almost like the unpredictably of the prairie. Miss Coco you better start listening to the radio, then you can refuse to go out, after waking Mom! Or....
you can not go unless, she goes with you! That's what I do! I never go outside by myself....this year there are coyotes
within a 1/2 m of my housie. I bark at the howling..but Gma said,I'd only make a snack for the pups! A snack, really?????
Happy 4th. to you and Puffy, hugs and kisses, mazy
