Mom and Casey and I have been going to different parks lately so we could run through the crunchy leaves. Actually only Casey and Mom like doing this, I like walking on the sidewalk. Well today, Mom wanted us to wear our Green Bay Packer bandanas on our walk. I do like the Packers but HATE wearing bandanas!!!! So after Casey got on his , I went and hid under the bed and wouldn't come out. I was going to show them who's boss. Soon I heard the door close. I came out and I was ALONE, but I wasn't wearing a bandana! Did I win? When Mom and Casey got home they smelled of McDonald's cheeseburgers! I missed a fun time, the park and McDonald's! Maybe that bandana isn't so bad.....I don't feel like I won!

Attacked by a very mean cocker!

Today Mom, Casey and I were taking our usual walk when a rude and very mean cocker came barking and running at us. The cocker's mom grabbed her fur and told her to stop....but she didn't! Instead she pulled away and came after us again. I ran behind Mom, after all, I'm more of a lover than a fighter, but Casey was having none of that ill behaved dog. Casey snapped back at her as she tried to bite him!!! Finally the dog's dad came and got her. The lady was very apologetic for her mean dog and checked Casey to see if he was o.k. He was, but I started to limp to make her feel bad. Actually, my one nail was just stuck in my fur, but only Mom knew that. Mom fixed it when we got home. If you see that really nasty cocker....RUN! We've run into her before and she has a real bad attitude!

A Surprise Party!

Thanks to all my friends who sent birthday wishes! There WAS a party after all! It was a big surprise because it happened in September and our birthdays are in August. The party has always been in August, so we weren't expecting it. We had a special dinner of porterhouse and filets especially made for us pups! Yum!!! Our "new" toys looked and smelled suspiciously like some we used to have a long time ago. We wondered what ever happened to those. We suspect Mom recycles our toys back to us after hiding them for a long time. We have so many toys, it is hard to keep track of them. It was good to have them back!!! There were hugs and snuggles. A great party!!! BOL

Where's the party?

Every year since we got my brother Casey I've had to share my birthday party with him. His birthday is earlier in the month and mine is the last day and we usually have the party in the middle weekend. Well, I was all set to be surprised yesterday, even practiced my surprise bark and jump around, but NO party! It seems that was the surprise! The parents left and were gone all day and when they got home...NO party! Did they forget my special day is Wednesday?? After all these years am I being taken for granted? I've been loyal, faithful, loving and a whole lot of fun! There better be a party soon or they will see a whole different side of me. Beware folks!!

My Summer Job

For the past 2 1/2 months I've taken on the job of watching over the mourning dove family that is living on our deck. They have built a nest in a hanging basket. Mom was going to plant in it, but since they arrived they have taken over. The third batch of babies just hatched a few days ago. I really can't see them yet, but Mom fills me in. My part comes in about 2 weeks when they leave the nest and walk around on the deck. I love those little guys! I wish I could get out there with them, but Mom doesn't let me out when they are walking. The bird parents are used to us and just sit in the nest when we are out. When the babies are out walking they come right up to the screen and so do I. Sooooo close, but I can't even get one good sniff! I wouldn't hurt them. It's been a fun job! I wonder if they'll be any more after these two leave. Teddy ( bird sitter)

One HOT Picnic!

We've had a rather cool and rainy spring so imagine my surprise when at our Memorial Day picnic it was sunny and 89! Yesterday it was 52. We're not acclaimated!!! Casey, who loves picnics with all that tall grass and all, even laid under the table. After the eating, we usually go hiking. The trails through the woods where there was shade were muddy, and the meadow trails were sunny and HOT! So we went to the dog park, not my favorite place. Casey LOVES it, but today he even hung out in the shade. The other dogs had to come to us. Casey had to snap at an over eager Bishon who must have thought Casey was a girl or didn't care?! Casey set him straight! I'm relaxing in my cool house now, not a big fan of HOT weather!

A Visit to the Vet

Casey and I had our annual checkup and shot update. I was a really gooooood boy. Casey peed on the floor in the waiting room, but NOT ME! The vet found a wax ball in my ear! That's the only ball that Casey didn't take away from me. BOL! I had to have extra blood taken for some "old guy" tests. Everything came back good. I do need to have my teeth cleaned next month. I hope I'm getting extra white veneers just like the models have. I have been in 4 calendars in the past and with great teeth, look out Hollywood!

Oh, No, Grooming Day!

Casey and I used to go to the groomer and we hated it! Then Mom decided she would try her hand at doing it. She got the equipment and has been doing it for a while now. Guess what, we still hate it! Mom says Casey has easy to cut hair, and mine not so easy. I've heard talk that some think I might have a poodle or bishon in my family tree. I do have little ringlets of tight curls on my legs.I think it's attractive and hides the fact I might be a bit bowlegged. On "grooming" day Mom cleans off her painting table and lays out the equipment. We saw that happen this morning and there's no where to hide!! After the cut comes the ear hair removal (ouch), and finally the bath. Shih Tzus are not "water" dogs! Seeing we are going to the vet for our checkup on Saturday, we'll have our nails done there. There better be some really good treats after our ordeal, REALLY GOOD!

Another Egg Shutout!

On Easter morning I was set. I'm a morning pup and my brother Casey is more of a slow starter, so I knew this year I would find the most eggs! I was off like a flash, but again Casey beat me to them. There were lots of plastic eggs with snacks inside. The Bunny must have been tired when he got to our place as the eggs were pretty much out in the open. As I ran to an egg, Casey would somehow get it first, get it open and get the treat. The few times I got there first, I couldn't figure out how to open it. After Casey got a few, Mom started to grab them away from him and put them into a basket. Later Mom gave me some that she opened for me. Casey called them "pity eggs", but I didn't care, I just like snacks. Wait 'til next year!

New Cousin

We got a new cousin last week! Our favorite aunt and uncle got us a 2 year old German Shepard cousin! We were hoping for something smaller, but they like the bigger guys. Our last 2 cousins went to the rainbow bridge in September and December. We haven't met him yet, but saw a photo. He only looks as big as my paw but probably will be bigger when he comes over to visit! We sent him an e-mail with our photo and he said we "looked delicious"! Now I hope that's German for "handsome", but Casey thinks he wants to "eat" us! I sure hope Casey is wrong. Casey always stands up to the cousins, but they can be scary, especially our cat cousin!
