Arrival Story:
I will bring you to the beginning; this is a story for those that believe and perhaps a chuckle for those that don't believe. When I say believe, I mean believe in animal communication, psychic ability, and telekinetic ability. My hubby and I were so devastated by the loss of our best buddy Droopy (our very first basset hound who is pictured at the bottom of Howie's page as family), that we decided to reach out to a pet communicator. I am the one that is more skeptic, but I do believe in these powers. Since I was younger I have always had "feelings" or dreams of when something would be happening, so how can I deny the fact that others can have this ability or even more of an ability then me. "Ok" you can all stop laughing now, but it's true". So anyway, we contacted this woman that was a pet communicator, she told us that "Droopy" would be coming back to us as a Basset Hound again and we would find him in southern PA, in a home (not a pet store or fancy kennel), close to the state border and near a river and that he would be born around the 7th of June. She also told us that the angels would make sure we got the right puppy. In other words there would be reasons why others wouldn't have selected him. Well, we searched for breeders who would've had a litter within the time span, I wrote to the Daily Drool, then someone told us to check the breeders that were registered with the BHCA (Basset Hound Club of America) and we did. We found a breeder that had a litter of 5 (3 girls and 2 boys) on June 5th ; we called they were located in southern PA, close to the Maryland border and west of the Susquehanna River. We contacted "the communicator" and she said that was the place. The breeder had one little boy left. "Coincidence, I think not", we said we'd be down with the deposit that week. We took the 3 hour ride down from our house in the Poconos to the breeder, passing the horse and buggies from the Amish and thinking "will we ever get there?". Finally, as we pulled up to this small house with a fenced in yard we were greeted with the most wonderful sound in the world, the bales of 4 beautiful Basset ladies. We knew this was the place! The breeder came to greet us along with her girls and we became instant friends. She led us into her small house where we were then greeted by some more Basset friends, an older male who basically was the "owner" of the place, some other females and some more boys in the back, I believe it was 11 in all. Then the moment came "do you want to see the puppy? Yes, Yes, Yes!". She brought us to a sectioned off area in a small room off the living room and there he was, our little guy. He was the smallest of the litter; hence "the angels will make sure you get him".

Name:
Howies name on his papers is really Brave Heart. When we were debating what to name him the communicator said he wanted to be named Howie and when we looked up the origin of the name it was Brave of Heart. When Droopy was sick we always said he was such a brave big doggie.
