A Trip to Auntie's House

We spent the weekend at auntie's house. She lives about a hundred miles away from us so it was a long car ride. I love car rides, but my pug sisters are more rowdy and they had to travel in the crate. I, however, got to sit on mommy'a lap the entire time. I am so special.

Auntie lives in a very small town in northeast Kansas. She has a big backyard with old, old trees in it. Auntie feeds the birds and squirrels so they are abundant in her yard. I tried and tried to catch the squirrels, but those wiley little things ran right up the trees and stared at me. They mocked me, even! BOL! Well, I just stared back at them and they were afraid to come down. BOL! I tried to climb a tree, too, but discovered that it is harder than they made it look. Anyway, that'll teach them that I am a great squirrel hunter.

My Boy Won!

Wow!!! David Cook is the new American Idol. I knew he could do it. I think he is awesome and I'm sure he must love miniature dachshunds like me! BOL!!! BOL!!

It's a Good Day to Bark

I am just sitting on my mommy's bed, looking out the open window and barking. I like to bark. I bark at nothing. I bark at the wind. I bark at neighborhood noises like lawnmowers and cars passing on the street and birds chirping. Speaking of chirping; do you ever hear those darned doves cooing? It bugs the heck out of me. Anyway, for now, I will continue to bark just to bark. Ta-ta and BOL!!!

All's Quiet on the Midwestern Front

Our auntie and cousin, China Sue, went home late yesterday afternoon and it seems so quiet here without them. China and I don't much like the rowdiness of the two pugs, Amazing Gracie and Gigi, but China and I mostly put up with it and sometimes they can even be fun.
I remember what life was like two years ago before we had the pugs. I got all my pawrents attention and I could run around the yard without being fenced in by anything or having to take walks on a lease. I still get my mommy every night 'cause I get to sleep with her and she rubs my belly and scratches my back and ears. I love my mommy so much.
We joined a new group called the Mud Puddle and are having fun playing the games. There are dachshund groups but I can't find one that's very active so this one fits the bill for mommy and me.

A Good Day

Oh, I can already tell this is gonna be a great day. The sun is shining and the weatherman said it's gonna be 75 degrees. That's a perfect Spring day in my book. I can sit outside on the deck and bark, bark, bark, bark. bark! My mommy gets angry if I do it too much 'cause she says the neighbors are gonna call the dog police and they will make me stop, but I can't help myself. I will try, though, 'cause I don't want to have to spend all day in the house.

All's Quiet on the Kansas Front

It's Saturday morning and nothin' much happenin'. I love to bark, bark, bark, bark, but there isn't even much of that going on 'cause no one is outside to bark at. It is snowing outside a little. What's really strange about that is it is APRIL!! Come on! Bring on the Spring time. This cold is gettin' me down.

Little Sisters are a Pain!

I was rudely awakened this morning by that silly Gracie jumping into bed with me and mommy. I snapped at her but she is too dumb to understand or else she just ignores me. She better not ignore me cause I will bite her off her curly pug-tail if she does.

Mommy tried to make all three of us go outside, but only Gracie was dumb enough to run out in the rain - yes, rain! - and down the deck stairs. Didn't she realize it was cold and wet? I ain't gonna go out there! No, way, Jose! Now I might go out if mommy lets me out the front door. I don't mind going to the front even in the rain. I get to see all the neighbors leaving for work and I bark "good morning" to them all. Mommy says I am not supposed to talk so much, but I learned it from her. She talks a lot, too.

Sunshine in February

It was warm and sunny today so Mom thought we should take advantage of it and play outside. I got to sit in the sunshine while my two little pug-sisters ran around like idiots, chasing the ball and posing while Mom took pictures. I just barked and barked. Mom kept saying, "sh-h-h", but I didn't stop. I like to use my outside voice.

Tomorrow it is supposed to snow 6 inches so I'm glad we had some unusually nice weather today. I don't mind the snow a lot, but if it is that deep it will make my belly cold. I can only do about an inch.

Saturday at home

Well, today I want to go outside and BOL at the neighbor dogs but my mommy won't let me casue she says I BOL too much. There are big Labs next door - a black one and a brown one. They have a little sister who is a Cocker. They bark back at me and their daddy makes them go back in the house. I guess it's not fair that I can stay out a little longer and they can't, but I can't help it. I just keep barking and barking. I just like to "talk" a lot. It is sunny outside so I hope mommy will take us out again.
