Well pups we are trying something different for my arthritis. I have been taken off Dog Gone Pain (DGP). I started drinking a lot of water yet I was (blush) constipated while on it. Mom was convinced I was a diabetic and made a vet appointment. Turns out I am probably sensitive to one of the herbs, most likely the turmeric, in DGP. Turmeric, apparently, can cause dehydration and either diarrhea or constipation if taken regularly. Who knew?!?
So now we are trying Adequan. I had my first injection last Friday, get another one this Friday and then the next one will be in two weeks and so on. Ultimately my vet would like to see me needing the injection every 6 to 8 weeks. If the Adequan doesn't appear to be working, then we will try acupunture.
I am a little confused as to the term "we" as I seem to be the only one getting poked here! Hrmph!
Any other pups out there ever try Adequan? Did you see good results?
I haven't had Adequan but did have acupunture for my spinal injury and it was wonderful. Yes you get some very thin needles stuck into you and then have some electrical current connected to some of the needles but let me tell you I felt great! I was so relaxed and happy. Momma will be taking me back for more acupunture treatments and I can't wait.
Hiya Abby we do not know of that one but we did look up a couple of links for you that MAY HELP?

We hope you find some good info on these sights to help you

luff dem boyzzzz
Hope hey figure out how to make you feel better. Mom used to give Sheba one Bayer aspirin a day for her arthritis pain. It seemed to help quite a bit!
Puff - mom is worried about acupuncture because I can't keep still at the vet. Do you get sedated first or does the vet just start with the needles and that calms you down? She has visions of me running amok with the needles stuck in my back!
Boyzzz - thanks for the links. Mom had seen one of them, but the other two were new to her so she was happy to get that info. She had researched Adequan before I went to the vet and had pretty much decided that was what she wanted to try and was happy when the vet suggested. The vet's own dog is on it, and seems to be improving, so our paws are crossed it will work for me.
Maya - we haven't heard about the Bayer aspirin so will ask the vet. He is thinking of giving me Tramadol for when I have very acute pain.
Thanks everyone! You are the bestest!
