Buddy's Beat

I was so excited this morning because Mom took us in the van to drop kids at their schools and she brought the leashes with her! This means we are gonna get to walk some place exotic, like around the school or near the grocery store, instead of our usual jaunt around our own neighborhood. I was sooo looking forward to some new scents and pmail, but it was not to happen.
Mom pulled into the last kid's school parking lot and let him out. A good friend who works at the school was just getting out of her van next to ours, so she stopped and chatted with Mom for a couple minutes. Then Mom turned the key in the ignition to get going to our exotic walk location, and the van just made this click*click*click*click*click noise. Radio works, lights work, van doesn't work.
Thankfully, the friend was still there and she just handed over the keys to her own van so after calling for a toe truck, we just left our dead van and drove home in the friend's van. The toe truck people said they were busy kicking other vehicles around, so they won't get over to kick our vehicle to the fix-it shop for a few hours yet. Mom says they don't kick it. Why the heck do they call it a toe truck then?
There is a winter storm heading our way tonight - up to 14 inches predicted. Our van will probably be stuck at the fix-it place so Mom is hoping for a snow day so no one will have to get anywhere. I just wanted my walk. Mom says if I don't leave her alone, she will have to toe me around the block a few times. That sounds very mean!
