Poor Lexie Pupdate; Mom Needs Chocolate!

My poor sister! She had to go to the vet today to have a small growth removed from her eyelid. After a while, the vet tech called, asking for permission to do a dental on her while she was under because she had bad tartar again. Mom said to go ahead, but then half an hour later the vet himself called back to say that Lexie was gonna need some teeth pulled because they were really wiggly. Mom freaked out and started to cry. I didn't know what to do with that. I gave her the sympathy eyes I have been practicing for Lexie, and she came over and hugged me and rubbed me a lot. Then she fell asleep for quite a while next to me. She must be pretty sad to just fall into a nap like that, like I usually do. She must be what they call "dog-tired." I know what that's like, especially after I go to the dog park or play with Oscar or Jenna. But Mom wasn't playin' or anything like that. She was just cryin'.
So, Mom snoozes next to me on my bed and then wakes up and immediately calls the vet to see how Lexie is doing. They told her that Lexie is recovering just fine and that Mom can come and get her in a couple hours. They also told Mom that the doctor had to remove SEVEN teeth! Mom starts leaking all over again. Sigh.
Please pray for my sister. All our pup pals started p-mailing us and telling us their tooth stories and making us feel better. That really, really helped my Mom. She read all those messages and heard about how so many of you have had to lose teeth and all, and she was encouraged. Not that you all had to lose all those teeth, but that you got over it and have gone on to lead productive and happy lives despite your losses. Lexie is the family's first dog and we've just not been through these things yet. Heck, Mom herself never even had a cavity in her own teeth until her mid-30's!

Mom seems to be a bit better now, at least she is up and walking around and hunting through the house for chocolate. That's always a good sign.
