I've been LUV tagged & I'm only a puppy!!

Thanks KJ, Dogster # 94249 for the honor of being tagged by such a sweet and accomplished dog such as yourself. I don't know many dogs yet, as I haven't even reached my FURever home yet. I'm looking to Mica then for my inspiration.
Please see her diary too. There are some really furtastic dogs over there, and she has more experience writing than I do.

Like Mica mentioned, there are so many dogs that come to mind and are deserving in their own right. I've been watching, and learning like puppies do.

Games are fun. I hope I do a good job.

I tag Angus, The Warrior, Dogster # 173508. He is a warrior in every sense of the word, as he stands tall alongside my Mica, facing each day with IMHA. He has such honor and dignity. He may not even realize how much he helps my mom. At times she gets so overwhelmed by the formidable task of research, advocacy, fund-raising and even just holding someone's paw who has just been diagnosed. He always has a kind word for everyone and his loving nature brings about a sense of calm in the midst of a weathering storm that this disease is that we battle together each and every day.
I respect him and his family on behalf of mine. I love you too, Uncle Angus, the Warrior. I hope to earn my own title and I'd like to play dress-up and get some battle gear, for practice! Thank you.

Next, I tag Arthur, Dogster # 457493. I heard a story about Mica the day before she went to Heaven. Mom learned something very special that day, about friendship and it makes me proud to tell the story. Mica was in ICU and my pawrents got to spend most of the day and evenings with her-outside of visiting hours. The doctors felt she did better when they were near. She was very very sick, and yet the staff always told mom and dad that Mica was a sense of calm and comforted them and the other sick dogs and cats. None of this would surprise them, knowing Mica, it's just that in all this time she never uttered a cry or a moan, and showed such courage that could almost break your heart, mom said.

On one trip to do her 'chores' outside, they passed a bulldog that was in considerable distress. Mica had never seen a bulldog before, and she stopped and calmly turned and looked straight into my mother's eyes. Mom smiled back at her. It was then that Mica performed her magic on the both of them. She showed such kindness in her own adversity to this dog, who sensed Mica's help, and led him to a place where he could be comfortable. Mom said she knew Mica was curious about this dog she'd never seen in her life, (I have heard tales of Mica's intelligence) and she was immediately taken with him. It was one of the last acts Mica ever performed, and because she loved and accepted him as a friend, mom fell for bulldogs, because Mica led the way.

It was Arthur who then befriended Mica, and took my family under his wing, as a fine representative of bulldogs everywhere, he fills our lives with joy in the midst of sorrow. He puts others first, always and he makes sure you know that you are special in a way, for us, that only a bulldog can. He has a very special family too, and anyone that knows him adores him. I want you to know him too. Thank you, Arthur, for Mica.

Last and certainly no way on this planet least is a dashing young pal of Mica's named Gibbon, Dogster # 238846. Mica calls him Gibbety..(mom tries to say that really fast 3x in a row) he's a Min Pin with character the size of Liberty herself, as he comes from "The Big Apple' too. He's kind of like a Cary Grant of the dog world- a real man about town. Suave, debonair and as funny as the day is long. He fills the absolutely necessary void in my mom & Mica's life with sheer devotion and a LOT of humor.

He's very well known, highly respected and it is in part because he takes an interest in others in many many ways. We watched him just have his 2nd woof day and welcome a new baby sister Mia into his family. He does it all with great patience, and grace and like Mica said earlier, it's hard to fathom sometimes how much goodness one can fit into such a small space as a dog like a Min Pin, and still have room for even more heart. He's a blessing, and an absolute laugh-riot, and if you don't know him, I hope you will soon. Mica adores him, and I am hoping that he and Mia (see how close that is to Mica?) will be my pals a long time too. You see, in them, I get to know the sister I won't meet for a very long time, and it's a good thing for a puppy, to learn about goodness, and friendship, and why the grown-ups value these blessings so.

Thank you again, KJ

I'm really PROUD of Mica AND Precious

Mica received a Pmail yesterday and that pup was kind enough to let us share it with you.
It's from Precious, a Jack Russell terrier..Dogster # 534359

***beforehand, Mica wants to tell you something, just so you may understand better- you'll see this term used: "PCV". A PCV stands for packed cell volume. It is a measurement of the oxygen-carrying portion of the blood (the red blood cells, or RBC) and in part how the vets know how many are present in a volume of blood. They monitor this very carefully in IMHA. Mica's had fallen to 6. After her transfusions it climbed to 21, and held. Mica's should have been between 45 and 60.***

Mica says she hopes this helps.

Hello
Hi, my name is Precious. I'm a Jack Russell terrier. I have the same disease as Mica did. At first we didn't know what it was until I saw your site. My (PCV) was at 12 when mom took me to the vets. I was critical. They wanted to keep me overnight. Dad talked to the vet and said how bad was it? Vet told dad I wouldn't make it through the night so dad just said we are taking her home, and they did.

This happened on the 4th of July.

I have to say that I'm doing much better. I'm on meds that help me. My PCV is at 26 now. So, I made it through, with the help of Dogster pals and of course you.

Yes, you may ask why?
Because you gave me the information that I needed. And, you helped me to live.
I just wish it was the same for your beloved Mica. Without Mica I wouldn't have known about the disease and how to deal with it. So, thanks from the bottom of my heart.

With love, hugs, Precious & Precious's mom

**Mica, mom & I hope & pray that Precious will continue to do well. We thank her & her mom for letting us tell other dogs & their pawrents on Dogster about what happened to her. We are sorry that she has been diagnosed with IMHA, yet very thankful that Mica could help someone, as that has been our wish all along. Mom says she knows Mica is smiling like no other dog can right now.
Bless you Precious.

LOVE, Mirra the pup

We're just happy, joyful & gleeful for you Cheyenne

(from Mica's diary)

Cheyenne is safe and with her loved ones once more. Mirra & Mom join me in wishing you & your family every blessing. Your mom never lost faith and helped so many others along the way. You have been an inspiration Chantelle, one we can all learn from.
I love happy endings.

With our love & respect,

Mica & Mirra's family

Here are the Tag game rules: (hint: copy and paste the rules to post in your Diary!)

Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Dogs who are tagged, need to post in their Diary the rules & their 7 pawsome facts. Then choose 7 dogs to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to bark them a pmail, or send a fun rosette, letting them know that they have been tagged and to read your Diary fur the rules.

Wow!
Well here goes nothin'...

1) I'm a half Canadian, half American, Belgian Oregonian, and proud of it! BOL!
2) I'm the alpha pup in my litter just like my big angel sister, Mica-the wonderpup.
3) I not only 'shadow' mom, I am often a shadow, except of course when I pretend to be invisible.
4) I play all day yet I have a strong work ethic..I'm a Belgian afterall!
5) I have 3 other sisters-1 a pawsome human and the other 2 are cats. Wish I could tag 1 now too!
6) The pawrents say I do a really good imitation of Snoopy. It's mostly a cute yawn noise, but they like it.
7) Mica watches over me and keeps me out of trouble, which evidently I am apt to find. We just wish she was here with us still. We miss her very much.

I'd like to tag (ALPHA betically, of course):

1) Asena 31742
2) Bebe 508240
3) Blue 620507
4) Daisy 446903
5) Dallas 132613

Tag-Team Tagged by Precious

[ View A Comments ]

A very brave pal who is living with IMHA.. a special little hero to both of us.

In fact, as both Mirra & I have been tagged, we shall do a tag team trial..
Time is a real commodity around here. Mirra felt Mica should do the talking.

Here are the Tag game rules: (hint: copy and paste the rules to post in your Diary!)

Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Those tagged need to post in their Diary the rules & their 7 pawsome facts. Then choose 7 furry friends to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to bark them a pmail, or send a fun rosette, letting them know that they have been tagged and to read your Diary fur the rules.

1) Both Mirra & I appreciate the fine qualities cheese has to offer. Yummers!

2) I was ok with water. We live in Oregon afterall. It was best to be in it though-as opposed to watching it happen (rain). Yet when it was snow, it was Heaven. Mirra is all about water. It's like she doesn't even notice it. I can't wait for the first snowfall.

3) Speaking of water, I liked baths. Mom called it 'puppy @ the spa day'.. I let her call me "Fluffy Galore", but ONLY on that day. She always had a special treat ready for me afterwards, so I looked forward to it. I was a very cooperative dog. Mirra, not so much. It's the only time she notices water-in conjunction with a bath. She's ok as long as there's no soap. (go figure?) So, we're hoping the special treat factor will sink in and help. She is a puppy- we'll give her time.

4) Squirrels! Most around here know they have 'issues'.
I had one fat one over the years that even drove me a little nuts. It must have been valedictorian of "Taunting Tech." I let most others be. Mirra has a juvenile one now- her first, that makes mom nervous. Neither has any fear, so she thinks it makes it unpredictable. Moms hold their breath a lot, ever notice?

5) Love..Both Mirra & I adore our sister Mckenna. I didn't have the luxury Mirra will, that she lived far away, but it was pure Gold when we got together. Last week, she & her kitty rescues, Margo & Whitney, moved back to Oregon from NYC. She has a special way with animals, like she speaks our language. In fact, she introduced my pawrents to our breed, when she was quite young. I don't know if we can thank her enough for that. My pawrents do all the time.

6) Similarities..We're both born in May and in a year ending with 7. We're both Alpha pups & purple girls. Finally, both Mirra & I arrived at our furever homes with a sibling. I had my big brother Quixote & Mirra had sister Sufi along. It was a grand day of play and exploration. Kind of like Lewis & Clark!

7) The Shadow effect..the day I arrived, mom asked our friend & breeder about us as a breed-what to expect in part.. One thing she said was, "you'll never go anywhere alone again, (even the bathroom)." Mirra & I shadow mom like we're an extension of her. Mom says she couldn't be in better company if she tried.

Thanks Precious, for tagging US together. I hope that this tag team effect is acceptable to Dogster pals everywhere. It was great fun, not to mention a real honor.

Hence, Mirra & I can tag 14. WOW!

1) Hannah
2) Zeke
3) Benji
4) Hope
5) Maddy
6) Grizzly Bear
7) Jack
8) Ladysmith
9) Hunter
10) Yippy
11) Mi'je
12) Rockstar
13) Katie Hepburn
14) Whitney

Mica and Mirra are "Feeling BLUE"

[ View A Comments ]

The same as Mica's diary..

Some of the following is cut & pasted from Blue's son Zeke's message, who tagged me. With our thanks to him and Suika, who then tagged Mirra. We Belgians will double our efforts for our pal. Please help if you can.

SO many pals stepped up for our pal Cheyenne, who is now safe at home.

Time to get those paws moving, this is a project with many purposes! The main goal is to get even more pups & people aware of BLUE's plight outside our immediate circles, it is also with hopefully the strength in numbers a way to show the ever watching dogster crew our efforts & determination (we have more reasons and ideas rolling that need dogster's support and partnership).

It involves diaries and a game of tag!
BUT it is unique!
What we need every pup to do is:
PLEASE

First write an entry in your diary titled "Feeling BLUE" (If you don't have a diary now is as good a reason to start if any!) Then write a message expressing how it feels to miss BLUE or friend or how you would feel if you were lost/separated from your family.

PLEASE include this information (ok to cut & paste) in your diary.

Blue, a black and white Siberian Husky (4 year old male, brown eyes, micro
chipped) has been missing since May 8, 2007 from Brighton, MI.
Dogster page: http://www.dogster.com/dogs/620507
Website : http://whereisblue.com
E-mail: inform@whereisblue.com
Telephone: (313) 550-6095
Reward offered for his return, no questions asked.
Permission and gratitude for cross posting. Thank you!

Next pick 5 to 10 pals* ****important**** make sure they are unique as in pals of yours that might not run in the same social circles as we want the tag to reach out not move in circles amongst us or tag pals with many different pup pals and send pawmail or rosettes including a message..

You are dear to me, a special friend. Please read my diary and see how much a friend means to me, especially if they were missing. This is a very unique tag, you do NOT have to tag anyone else but I ask you in the spirit of friendship to write in your own diary and title it "Feeling BLUE" and how
you would feel if you were lost or separated from family & friends and include BLUE's information which you may take from my entry."

Mirra and I were most fortunate to help a pal in need a short time ago. We then got to meet Cheyenne's mom. It was so easy to be able to post her pup's image on our pages and ask others to help, so we did. Then they did. To be a part of something so special was a gift in itself. We gained a very special set of friends that we would never trade. We can't know what Cheyenne or Blue has gone through, but it must be terrifying beyond human words, such that we hope and pray we never have to go through this horror. I know it would destroy our mom. We can hope and pray and offer what we can to share the burden and lessen the load of the loved ones closest to Blue.

It is such a small deed really, if you stop and think about it. It is almost painful not to be able to offer more in this time of need. I know Blue needs us, and we'll be here for him as long as he needs us.
God Speed Good Pal.

LOVE, Mica & Mirra

We have chosen to tag a baker's dozen..

Cheyenne

GraceLynn
Maggie
PITA

We sincerely hope this will help you Blue.

Thanksgiving TAG!!

November 11th 2007 11:47 am
[ View A Comments ]

I was tagged by Greta Grace, a sweet miniature Schnauzer. Thank you my friend.

Here's the rules:
Because it’s Thanksgiving time, there's a small change to the rules. Each player tells 7 special things they are 'thankful' for. Tagged dogs post the rules in their diary with their 7 things, and choose 7 pups to tag. Let them know by pawmail or rosette that they've been tagged and to read your diary for the instructions on how to play.

7 Things I’m Thankful For:

1. My 'furever' home and my family who loves me.
2. My angel sister, Mica-the wonderpup, who sent me here at just the right time.
3. The opportunity for a happy, fulfilled life as a service dog, like Mica was.
4. A big safe yard to play in and a warm bed at night.
5. Fresh water and healthy tasty food each and every day.
6. The good friends in my life who treat me kindly and teach me new things.
7. Dogster, to have the chance to try and help other dogs get 'furever' homes too.

I tag (in no particular order):

1. Lil Miss Mya
2. Bingo
3. Portos
4. Destry
5. Cookie
6. Hamish
7. Wigo Black z Kovarny
8. My Uncle Goofball Mavredes the First-cuz mom can't count and cuz it's a 'special' game, a puppy gets to break the rules when she sees fit and he is SO worth it. (thank you)

I'm six months old today & I wonder if I have learned my- lesson?

In my family, we celebrate half-birthdays. Today is my very first one.
I was born in Canada six months ago today, 30 November 2007!

I have been with my furever family four months now, and I am told I am a good puppy. I still disappear (I call it being invisible) but thankfully only due to my coloring. I blend in with a lot, but since I have grown some I don't get stepped on as often anymore. I'm whisper quiet when I move, so I can sneak up on you and can, as mom says, 'scare the livin' daylights out of you.'

I'm a friendly puppy and very inquisitive. I have my moments, like anyone I suppose. Only this morning I thought to revisit the upstairs bathroom while mom checked the laundry one floor below. I didn't eat much of the bath tissue, but sadly, it left a very visible and very long 'white' trail around the corner and off into the dining room. It's one time when my black coloring betrayed me-it was hard to hide the white stuff dangling from my lips, but I think I smiled when mom came around the corner, just the same.

I heard Mica did that once, but didn't eat it either. Perhaps I'm just finding my own Belgian legs around here, as this is my second time. I didn't get scolded, but I was asked to get down off the couch a few minutes later.

"One has to earn the right to do certain things around here, and in some instances, must be invited by a person." I say this because I had already thought of jumping up on the couch with mom. It has not been even a week since I was 'asked', and already I'm who-knows-where now.

I'm smart enough to know that I probably should have found something better to do when I was trusted to be left on my own. Oh well, always happy to to give the pawrents something to talk about later on, right?

I Hope everyone has a good day. So far, so good for this puppy.

Thank goodness for dogs

oh for goodness sake...

Mom's having surgery soon on both eyes. When she realized JUST NOW that she thought today was the 30th (it's hard for her to see, you see), Mica whispered, that's okay pup, you'll probably get the royal treatment tomorrow anyway..

I'm glad we dogs can look after mom, she obviously needs looking after..
Thanks to everyone who wrote us thinking of me.

xo, Mirra

p.s.
I'm back on the couch!

I 'guess' I love Rock & Roll.. what do I know, I'm only a- puppy!

Mom says I'm a stitch.

Dad's away for work, so mom asked me tonight before bed if I wanted to 'do my chores.' I decided to go out. I went with her and was quick, but I discovered the neatest, coolest night time thing I should like to investigate further. A bunch of bugs I'd never seen on the wet pavement- scurrying every which way in the light.. Dad never uses the lights outside for this, and he doesn't know what he's missing!

Mom called me over the threshold, but I really was fascinated with all of this under the bright lights.. I couldn't tear myself away. I looked up, and wanted to listen, and then had my first dance lesson, the Belgian jitterbug. This (kind of obnoxious) black bug kept coming after me, and all I really wanted was a closer look. I swear. Ask any spider in town and it'll tell you I'm no nonsense about them. You bug me and you're dead. Mom says I get that from Mica.

So I tried to roll it over. Boy was that a mistake. It advanced, facing me-not backing down even tho I was 750,000 times its size.. so I, instinctively (as the kind-hearted pup I am) jumped backwards- giving it ALL the room to run but no.. so again I tried to check it out, same thing happened. Mom starts to chuckle from the doorway.
It's late, mom's hysterical and I'm getting flack from a bug.

I finally come inside, and just trying to 'get' all of what just happened, and as mom wipes down my very very muddy puppy paws, she says, "that's a beetle, Mirra." I was thinking, 'well, it really seems to have an attitude."
And this is where she lost me, but spent the next several minutes trying to explain the joke, in between laughter. Good thing dad wasn't here. I have a much better sense of humor.

She says, "well, it must have known that you are a 'Stones" fan, Mirra."

get it?
Beatles/Stones?
Yes, her age is showing and thankfully she is not a stand-up comic, or I might be facing a bath from being hit with tomatos.

BUT
Then I got it, sort of.
I'll break it down. Mom's a rockhound, Mica was named for a rock, and my dad comes from Obsidian Belgians. I'm resting comfortably now under mom's desk, wondering if that bug will have nightmares of "MIRRACULA!"
I can only hope.
