Arrival Story:
I was looking for my first dog at the Oakland City Animal Shelter (CA). She tricked me into getting her by looking very cute and sad. She sat on my lap the whole time I visited her and didn't want to get down to play or run around. They told me she was a rottweiller/pit mix, but I don't think so. Someone from Dogster recently told me to check out Black Mouth Curs because they thought she looked like one. I definately agree, so now I am calling her a Black Mouth Cur/Pit mix (pretty much all dogs in shelters in California are pit mixes of some sort, so that is a pretty good bet).

Cyrus was my first dog (besides family dogs growing up) and she taught me a lot about patience, persistance and a new definition of cleanliness. Unfortunately for her, I didn't know much about dog behavior or training at the time. But she has been a great sport, and managed to become a great dog - despite my downfalls. She is very happy to now have an educated pet parent who knows how to teach her right. The best way to describe her personality is always happy and unaware of anything that could be going wrong - and always hopeful (especially when it comes to food and treats!).
