Arrival Story:
I worked at a hospital on the med surg floor and a nurse friend of mine said her dog just had puppies. I had never seen a Shih Tzu before and since she lived near me I went over to see them. she had four big brothers, in her litter much larger than her, all golden and blonde and white. they came running to greet me, then a tiny wee little black one came out and sat an watched as her brothers played with me. I asked about her, they said she was the ony girl and the runt of the litter they were not sure she would make it because her brothers kept her away from mom, they had been feeding her with a bottle. I reached down and picked up the 10 oz little girl and she snuggle close to me and let out a deep sigh. She was only six weeks but I took on right then and there.. knowing she would get much more one to one attention to help her grow and live. Her owner thought it would be good to...

Cricket was a loving dog, she loved eveyone and everything.. she help me care for almost a hundred strays cats and dogs and find home for them.. she even thought kittens were hers.. she never got over 5 lbs.. she would get so mad when I went to work that little bitty girl would chew the molding off around the door.. so the vet said to get a toy and go out and when she start to chew the door open it and throw her the toy go back in and keep doing it. eventually all I had to do when I left was throw her the carrot and she would kill it instead of our door.. she was always a good girl, never a barker or whiner...she ask for very little and was loyal til the end. Cricket passed just last November. she was just 20 years. old..
