Mom has made a vet appointment for me tomorrow to get me all checked out and stuff. They said the price will be $165 for the complete annual exam, which includes being tested for heart worms and all my shots. BUT, it's an extra $11 to have my nails clipped. I want to know...do you have to pay extra when the vet clips your nails or do they do it for free or is it included with your exam cost? Just Wondering
I think it is extra. I know it is here in the Bay Area..
Mom clips our nails, so we never use the service. Once they clipped my nails when I had a paw injury. Mom was not too happy about it, but well..
I am very positive, that it is an extra service and wow, $11 is really a great deal! Here it is $20 and up when the vets do it....... bummer.
Best to you and your exam!
Woofs, Jojo and sonja
Our Vet charges $15 to do them, but when jazzi had her girlie surgery they did them for free while she was under.
When I used to take Rinky to the vet, I was always charged extra if I wanted her nails trimmed. And just like Harley's vet, I was charged $15.
Doo, everything is okay right? You's not sick is you's?
My vet did them for free and Mommy didn't want them done. Mommy always does my nails herself same with Missy but, when I went in for surgery he clipped my nails. Then when I got my stitches removed he clipped them again. Mommy was mad about that cause she was going to do them herself right after my stitches were out.
Ebby, everything is alright, mom just wants to get my shots and have me checked over from head to toes.
Monty, I can't believe they cut your nails at surgery time and then AGAIN when the stitches were removed, like 10 - 14 days later. WOW! Mom would have been mad too. I mean, really, how much could they have grown in 2 weeks time!!
Mom wishes she could cut our nails but we squirm too much and then mom's pulling one direction on our feet and legs and we're pulling the other. She doesn't want to cut the quick, so she just lets the vet do it.
Mom thought $11 was high, but its cheap compared to everyone else's prices.
Normally stitches are in for 10-14 days but, I am special and mine were in for almost 6 weeks. I was rejecting my stitches like a rebel. The sad thing is Mom did my nails two weeks before surgery and they still did them. She never actually cuts them she always files them and we are always so patient with her too and she makes it so she can't hear us walking on the tile floor. When she can hear us walking is when we get our nails done again.
Momma tortures me herself, so I don't know what our vets charge...
and I think you just reminded her to cut mine!! Yikes!!
Cutting your nails is extra doo!!!!!!! Are you having blood test too sweetie???? Is everything ok????? Thinking of you! Lots of hugs! Loves ya!
Shhhh Doo. Be quiet about this toenail clipping thing, I don't want my momma to get ideas.
yes, my vet charges too, that $165 is a great price for everything and a vet visit.
Everything is fine with me, its just I haven't had a check-up in a long time due to mom's financial problems, so now that mom has some money, she wants to make sure us kids are all healthy and good to go for this super hot summer coming up. Thanks everybody for ya'lls concern. :o)
And I am TERRIBLY sorry if I triggered thoughts in the mama's minds to trim their babies nails. :o(
My vet doesn't charge to clip my nails. I think Petco and or Petsmart charge $5.00.
Hi Doo, our vet charges too. It's weird though, if the vet cuts the nails as part of the exam, we don't get charged. But if one of those mean 'ole vet techs has to take us "downstairs", we get charged! I don't cooperate with mom when she tries to cut my nails so she's always glad to pay. Mom thinks it's like $10 to have them cut at the vet.
We got charged $16 a couple of years ago...extra on top of the other incurred charges...a dollar a toe! No way said growlmy so now she does it...and thanks for reminding her...NOT!
Hope all your check up stuff comes out great!
If yu make a 'ppointment wif my bet jus' fur yur nailses, it r $25. If yur bill aftur yur check-up comes tu $400 wike mine did wast week, dem frow it in fur 'free'!!! :D
Mommy pays extra for nail clipping.
The place in PetsMart is Banfield. I
have a wellness plan there and when
I go every 6 months, I have to get
my nails cut. Our charge is 12 bucks,
buuuuut - they also charge extra for
extra handling, which is always the
case with me 'cause I'm an ornery ol'
hag - I try to bite everyone! Can you
believe they charge like 27 bucks
extra for that?!! Gee, I'm special!!
Miea pawrents kutz Meia nailtz, butt $11 knot two mooch iff
U gotz 18 nailtz tuu kutz...finking...huuuummmm...dats woodbee bout 61 scent fore etch uno...?????
I do both boys now ... but when I used to get our vet to do them... his Vet tech used to hold the dogs while I clipped.. and charge nothing.....
If they used to clip and me hold... about one in 5 times they would ask for a $10 "donation"
He charges $10 to most clients.
But then.. we have a vet I wouldnt trade for a million dollars. As long as I live within 100 miles of him.. I will never change ! He charges $30 for a full yearly set of vaccines... and his other charges are in proportion. Its a modern loving practice that treats Longhorns to Hamsters !!!!!
Hey Doo where does you go to vet? Mommy liking what they charge you...our vet is so 'spensive!
Mama had them clip my nails when she took me to the dogtor last week and they charged $5 for that in addition to all the other stuff.
Mom had to postpone my vet appointment til Tuesday at 3:30 cause she had an upset tummy when she woke up this morning. (No urka gerkas tho.) So both me and Austin will be going to the vet the same day, just at different times. So I'll be updating you all probably Tuesday evening.
Ebby, mom goes to a clinic called "Spring Creek Animal Hospital" on Nacogodoches close to Judson Rd. The vet's name is Sherry Youngblood and she's been mom's vet for over 20 years. She's very good and even tho there's one close to our house (less than a mile and 1/2), she's rather drive a little further to be with someone she knows and likes and is good to us. (Mom has recommended Dr. Sherry to a lot of her friends and family members also, she's that good.)
Well Mommy thinks this info is good to know. She likes Rinky's 'cute' (her words not mines!) vet, Dr. Patin. He's a great vet but it's hard going there cause...well...you know, that's where Rinky always went. My 'holy-ist' vet I loves, but some things like surgery or major things she doesn't do.
Hey, yu clowns!! $400 wuz fur ALL(3)da shotz I needed hab AN' a 'xam by my bet AN' a hartwurmz test AN' hartwermz med'cine AN' wellness bloodwerk tu make shur I r healfy an' junk AN' I got tu bark at Mel da cwinic kitty AN' I gotted WOTZA pats an' wuff an' stuff an' TONZ ob healfy tweetses, tu!!
Nail's are extra at our vet's. $14.00 per dog or cat! But we get treat's there to BOL!
I get my nails clipped at the groomer! No extra charge, BOL!!!
they charged 10 bucks extra at my vet in maine.
but i often went to the once a month nail cutting at the local pet store. the lady was really good and charged only 5 bucks..we tipped her an extra buck.
since i left the U.S. i had to accept that mommy was going to trim my nails (or she had to accept that she was going to succeed at it by herself).
i had been giving her a hard time all my life. she had gotten to a stage where she could do it with someone else holding me.
well, necessity is the mother of all invention and now i am perfect for nail trimming!
she figured out a trick which was to put me on a countertop or table. at first i was still a bit ancy so she tied the leash really tight to a cabinet knob like the noose at the groomer.
now i stand like a horse and allow each paw lifted and trimmed.
(a card table and the bannisters on the stairway will work for a large dog).
given mommy is a sailor, she always uses a slip knot (with a quick release), just in case i were to attempt a jump. (i never even tried it).
i just thought i would tell this story as mommy was almost ready to give up on me i was so persuasive about not cooperating with nail trimming. i had her convinced it was a 'doxie thing' since she always trimmed all her other dog's nails.
but it's all fake and i am trained now, so your mommy's shouldn't buy the hype if they want to save the money on your pedicures. it's expensive and a hassel to take you someplace and you need it done every month so my advice is keep trying.
the table top is what turned the tide, it just feels different up there, same as at the vet i guess..time to behave.
That is interesting, because I used to snarl and bite..really bite!, when growlmy tried to trim my nails, but then she bought a muzzle, but she didn't like that thing, nor did I of course...so one day when I was on the countertop in the bathroom for brushing my teeth, she tried to do my nails, too...Eureka! I cooperated!Growlmy makes sure she always has a leash on me too...wow, Nina, your mom and mine must think alike! BOL!
