Going to the dog park to chase squirrels & trying to catch Lizards in the yard, playing with his soccer ball - the nastier the ball the more fun it is to play with, going for long walks with Mom

Squirrels that sit on the fence, Evil Mr. Vacume Cleaner, When mommy feeds the birds, the mean doggies that live down the sreet, fast cars

Favorite Toy:
His grimy, slimy, disgusting soccer ball

Favorite Food:
Peanut Butter,Tiny milk bone treats, Peanut Butter, chicken sticks from Trader Joes & Frosty Paws! Did I mention Peanut Butter?

Favorite Walk:
The Dog Park Trail as we go right thru Squirrel Town!

Best Tricks:
He will plop if you ask, "Are you exhausted?" He will quitely say please, and bark when you say speak, but his best trick is just looking too darn cute!!

Arrival Story:
I read his story on Petfinders, saw his picture and knew I had to rescue him. He had been beaten and abused, when I went to pick him up he was afraid of everything. He threw up in the car on the way home!! He refused to go upstairs in the house so I stayed with him all weekend (sleeping on the couch) until he braved the stairs! He has become an Angel, most of his fears are gone, except that Evil Vacume Cleaner. I may have rescued him, but he saved me~~

He has a tail that looks like Bob Marley got ahold of it, braided it, untied it, called Tina Turner, she teased it and Viola! It's an awesome tail - that really does not go with his body (see pictures). He is smart, funny, sweet as he can be, loves children. LOVES goinog to the dog park to play with his friends and chase squirrels in the woods. He likes to come sit beside me on the couch late at night and just be petted. If you stop petting him, he gently touches you with his paw as if to say, don't stop! He is my Angel.

Who is the pack leader?

Barks & Wags to all,

It has been awhile since my last entry, I've just been so busy! We have new neighbors and I am not used to them or their cars so I must keep watch at the window to alert mom when they come home. I do this by barking loud ( I sound so fierce), then the fur on my back stands straight up! However, my tail wags the entire time. I must make the new humans aware who's the pack leader of the neighborhood. I don't trust them for they have no furry children, only 2 legged human children, very strange!

It has been quite cold here, which I like in the afternoons, but not so much in the early mornings when mom takes me for my walk. I'd rather keep snoozing on the couch at least till the sun comes up. Mom genlty wakes me up and after a few snuggles I am ready to go. I am always ready for a walk no matter the time of day or temp, there are just times that are puppy preferrable.

We still go to the dog park on Saturday & Sunday mornings, that is BEAR time! I am ultra cool when I am at the park, I have lots of friends & humans alike who think I am just adorable. I get to run & play for about an hour then I must go home and nap to replenish my energy for my afternoon walks with mom.

Frosty Paws, Peanut Butter Treats, back rubs, long walks, lots of loving, long naps & Eukanaba, yep I still got it so good! I am the luckiest pup on the planet!

Until next time, barking outloud I am,
Charlie Bear

Expensive trip to the dog park

Barkings to all and Happy 4th of July!

Mom took me to the dog park a few days ago. I have been sniffing around that park for almost 2 years. Me, The Bear, well I consider it my playground. I don't woof twice about sniffing around in the woods. So as you can imagine I was quite taken by puppy surprise (mom was even more scared than me), when a Wasp stung me right between my perfect puppy paw!!! OUCH!!!!!! I ran as fast as I could back up the hill, (I think I was in shock), then went underneath the park bench were I proceeded to try to chew my foot off, the pain was that bad. There we many other pup moms & dads who crowded around me to see what the matter was.

Well as you can imagine, my mom was pretty uspet, because she did not know yet what had happend. I looked up at her with my best sad puppy eyes (which by this time were very dialated) and tried to let her know I got stung, by whining and whimpering but she couldn't understand me. I limped to the gate and mom decided to take me to the Emergency vet.

By the time we got to the vet my paw was swollen but I was not limping as much. They took my temprature (don't ya think you humans could think of a better way to do that besides sticking that thing you know where? Geez, it's quite embarrasing!), Anyway, my puppy temp was quite high and Mr. Vet person was a bit concerned but said he would give me two shots and I would be OK. I did real good even though the shots hurt a bit, but not near as bad as the sting did!!!

So we went home and I am back to my normal wonderful self. It cost mom a lot of money, but she told her friends it didn't matter what the cost, she would have paid anyting to make sure I was OK. AWWWWWW, ain't I a lucky pup! It was quite expensive so Mr. Vet person suggested mom keep liquid Benedryl with her when we go to the park.

Gotta go now, my paws are tired of typing and Ceaser is about to come on Animal Planet. Gotta go see what kind of "issues" these pups have!

Barkings to all!!!

As I mentioned in my last diary entry, I was having a problem with scratching and losing some of my beautiful coat! Well, since then, my wonderful mom has been giving me liquid fish oil. A drop or two on my daily bowl of Eukanuba and voila! I am gorgeous once again! Not that I ever wasnt't but my coat is more silky than ever. The little places behind my legs that were going bald are once again furry and fluffy! It could also be some of my winter coat finally coming in, but I must say, every time I walk by the mirror I have to stop and admire myself. I am a handsome dog!

All my mom's friends got me lots & lots of presents for Christmas! Treats galore, and lots of squeaky toys to play with. Guess those humans really do love The Bear!

Mom has been taking me to the tennis courts across the street on those days when it's too muddy to go to the dog park. She throws the tennis ball and I chase it. I do it for her, (yeah right), I am a tad obssessed with the tennis ball. Mom sez it's the Border Collie in me. I say cause it's mine!!!

Mom has joined the Best Friends Network. It's this wonderful place out in Utah, run by some wonderful humans. They take in all the animals who otherwise would be put down, unwanted, damaged, & abused. These humans are truly amazing. They not only take in our species, but they big High Paw to the wonderful humans at Best Friends.

I leave you with a puppy thought. We are so truly blessed to live with and be cared for by humans who love us dogs. Maybe you could suggest to your mom or dad (if they are not already doing this) to volunteer some of their free time, or money to their local animal shelter. Any orginzation that helps our fellow critters out would be great. The humans who work/volunteer at these places are very special people, why if it weren't for them, my mom wouldn't have been able to rescue me!

Every pup have a wooferrul day! Dream of Big Milk Bones and squirrel tails.

Sloppy wet kisses,

Charlie Bear
