It is a very very sad day. Our little friend SWEET GEOFFREY went to the Rainbow Bridge last night. He was such a sweet little guy. Geoffrey had a very hard time finding his furever home, but when he did, he hit the jackpot! He had a wonderful mom and brother. I am so thankful to them for letting SWEET GEOFFREY know what it was like to have a home full of love. We will miss you so much SWEET GEOFFREY. Run free now little boy. You are whole and well again. We will always love you and never ever forget you!

Hello to all my pals. I have a favor to ask. Care2 is holding a shelter contest. The prize is $10,000.00. Would you please copy and paste this link and vote for Southern Cross German Shepherd Rescue Group. They are in Clarksville Georgia. Without this wonderful group, Phoenix, Atticus or my fursis Hannah would not be here. This would help Atticus so much. He still needs over $4,000.00. Thank you all so very much. Love to all!!

OMD!! Today is my birthday. I think I will have my breakfast in my bed. Then I will get my favorite toy and run around the house with it. I will have humom throw it for me. Then I will have a snack and go take a nap.
When I wake up, I will do it all over again. It is raining here today, so I cannot go outside. Humom told Hannah and Faith to do what ever I say today. Well, not really. They will. They always do. Tonight will be the best. We are having Frosty Paws after dinner. I can hardly wait! Well, better go get started with my day.

I wanted to share this with everyone. Our friend Doni has stepped up and is working hard to help us raise funds for Atticus. This was her letter out today:
This week we celebrate a time of giving thanks. While I doubt that Native Americans embrace the original holiday as a time of celebration (not to mention the turkeys) it is still a time of remembering those blessings we have.
In today's economy it is easy to lose sight of the things we are blessed with. Most of us can easily find things we do without. For some it is "minor" things like not having the car we want to drive or the clothes we would like to wear. For others it is much more serious; not knowing how we're going to pay the rent at the end of the month or where the money is going to come from to put food on the table for our children. No matter what your personal situation is, it is important, for your own personal well being, to reflect on the things we have instead of always looking at things we don't have. If we only look at the things we don't have, it is easy to become consumed by the "lack" around us. Through the act of acknowledging and giving thanks for those things we have, we lift our souls from the dark place we otherwise reside in, a place filled with want and despair.
One of the acts of acknowledging our blessings is to share freely of what we do have with those who may not have the same blessings. People tend to get hung up in the belief that if they don't have money to give, they don't have anything of value that others might want or need. Nothing could be further from the truth. Giving of ourselves is a much more valuable commodity than money will ever be. There are so many opportunities out there and they don't have to involve a lot of time. What it does require is looking around outside of yourself and seeing what needs other have that are right in front of you. What do you see that needs to be done that you have the power and ability to do? Maybe it's offering to give a neighbor a lift to the store when their car is not working or they don't even own a car. Perhaps it's taking a few minutes and visiting with someone who is a shut in to see if there is anything they need or just giving them your company. It might be going down to the local shelter and volunteering to walk the dogs or clean out the pens. It could even be stopping from running long enough to give a hug to someone who least expects it.
It is easy to do things to "take care" of the people we love and care about. It is much more difficult to commit to spending time, energy, and yes, sometimes money, to help others that we may never have a day to day interaction with. They may even be people (or animals) that you will never meet. But the impact your efforts have could be life altering for those on the receiving end.
So as you are letting your dinner settle on Thursday, take a few minutes and think about what you have that you are grateful for. Then ponder on what you can do to make life better for someone else with the gifts that you have. Be creative. While waiting for an appointment I recently overheard a conversation the staff was having about instead of doing the $20 gift exchange at the office party this year that they thought it would be a better idea to put the money towards a local charity. I enjoyed eavesdropping in on their own plans to step outside of themselves and look to how they could help others.
For myself, I am thankful that I am as healthy as I am. I appreciate and relish the love and support I receive from my family and friends (both human and other species.) I am grateful for having a job and a roof over my head.
When I first thought about opening the web site my belief was that I could do more for the animals if I used my talents and helped animal welfare groups to raise funds for the work they do than I could by any amount of efforts on my own. In line with that, and as part of my own personal celebration of thanksgiving for the blessings in my life, I have opened a second, temporary site, that is being used to raise funds for a young dog in Georgia who needs surgery to live as normal a life as possible.
Atticus was dropped off at the pound when he was only 5 months old. He has what has been determined to be an acute injury that makes it so he can only get around using a kangaroo hop. It is believed that through surgery they can correct a lot of the problems on his spine and with rehabilitation he can gain a more normal means of getting around and possibly prevent him from losing even more mobility from his spine deteriorating. By going to www.eaglerosepro.com/donistest/AtticusInfo.html you will find more information about Atticus. You will also find links to pages where you can purchase personalized and custom holiday ornaments and t-shirts. There is also a page where you can purchase raffle tickets for an 8" X 10" plaque that will be given away in time for holiday gift giving that will be printed with the image of the winners choice. 100% of the proceeds from these pages will be donated towards Atticus' surgery and rehabilitation. Take a look at these pages. I guarantee you can find something truly unique and personal for anyone on your gift list, no matter how difficult they are to buy for.
My own wish for this Thanksgiving is that each of you will be surrounded by those you love, and that you will each find your own cornucopia of blessings, however hidden they may be.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Doni

Like Sully and Socks, we do not know Hope either, but we want to help too! We got this from Sully and Socks's diary.
OK, we don't really know "Hope" or her family yet, but Daisy Mae posted this in her diary today and we just had to jump in to try & help. Mom copied Daisy Mae's entry and is grateful to Daisy Mae's Mom for writing such a touching entry. Here goes:
Do any of you remember the thread about the "elusive dog" last year that Kenyons Mom was trying to catch? The dogs name then was Baby- she tried for many months(8 or 9) to rescue Baby and finally got her. They renamed her 'Hope". She had injuries that were treated- she was spayed. Her people spent lots of time and money fixing a warm-comfortable and secure place for her to come home to live in. She was still insecure and afraid of almost all people except her new Mom and Dad. She would let them pet her a bit and would sit fairly close to her Mom. Over 6 1/2 months - she grew to trust and love them so much that with colder weather coming- she was ready to be moved indoors- first to the heated garage and then the house when she was comfortable. Then the day before Halloween arrived and
someone broke into the kennel and scared Hope very badly and she bolted. Her Mom and Dad saw her not to far from them looking terrified and she ran away so fast and wouldn't come. Her Dogster ID# is 693563. We are putting her picture on our page and that she is lost- perhaps you might like to also.
It goes without saying that her Mom and Dad are totally devastated.
**before Hope was captured- she had a litter of pups (6- I think) during the winter. Her Mom and a friend Lucy looked for days trying to find them. When they were found they were rescued-fully vetted-spayed/neutered and transported to a great rescue in New York where they found safe and secure forever homes.**
Thanks for listening. You might leave a kind pmail or a pretty on her page. HOPE's DOGSTER ID# 693563.
Thanks Pals!!

The name that has been given to me is Atticus. I am really the sweetest pup you will ever find. I have just had a rough start in my life. Please read my bio for my story.
So far I have found how wonderful life can be. I just love to play, but right now I have a really hard time just going out to potty. My back is hurt really bad. If I do not get treatment soon, I could become completely paralyzed.
I am so thankful for the kind humans that are trying their very best to help me. They have taken me to see the person they call the vet. I heard them say I need something called surgery. This will give me the chance at a normal pup life. I want to be normal like the other pups at my foster home. Right now, I have to stay inside all the time and just watch them out the window. This makes me cry!
I also heard my foster humans say this surgery is going to cost $6500.00.
I am not sure what this really means. I heard them say it is a lot of money and they must raise the money by Oct. 28. They said this is when I am scheduled to have this surgery thing done. I want it so bad. I want to be able to run and play like all my pals. Without it, this will never happen and I will start to get a lot of pain, then I will not be able to even go out for a potty break.
I am a pup with a lot of love to give and a very big heart! My foster humans tell me times are really bad for people right now. That it will be hard to get this thing they call money. If any of you out there has even a dollar to spare, will you please help them get this money?
Dogster has been so kind as to allow us to ask for your help. Without all you pups, I just do not know what I would or will do.
If you can find anything you can give to help me here is the way to do it.
You can send the money right to the place that will be doing my surgery:
NCSU-Vet Teaching School at NC State University
4700 Hillsborough Street
Ralieigh, NC 27606
Case #142791
Please be sure and give them this case # and tell them it is for me.
Or you can donate through the wonderful rescue that is trying hard to get me this money:
SOUTHERN CROSS GERMAN SHEPHERD RESCUE
Click on Special Needs at the top of the page. Then click on me. You will then see where to put your kind donations.
I will be ever so grateful for anything any of you pups can do.
No amount is to small!
Love to all!!

Mission statement:
Mica's IMHA Research Fund is dedicated to funding research that leads to effective diagnostic tools, treatments and a cure for immune-mediated hemolytic anemia (IMHA) and to raise awareness of immune-mediated (IM) disease.
Mica’s IMHA Research Fund is a non-profit foundation and it's name represents it's mission. IMHA gave Mica her wings, and her quest for a cure left her a legacy. It would greatly please the wonderpup that in her memory others could join her and benefit in finding a cure. If these efforts on our behalf could save even one life, or spare one you love like we did Mica- the sheer indignity, pain and uncertainty of IMHA then it would be worth it.
We await tax-exempt status. We never handle funds directly, but do maintain all pertinent records for the trust. All information remains private. Our email address is: micabelgianred@yahoo.com
What we ask any patron of our charitable cause is to email your full name, mail address, date and amount of donation.
Please write MICA in the subject field. Kindly indicate if you are interested in knowing what studies we support and result of study, if available to us. (Note that some studies go on a long time). Finally, if we can share your pup’s badge on Mica’s page as a supporter, (or later use their likeness and name on Mica's foundation website, please let us know which Dogster# pal you wish we display to represent the family. We apologize for the necessity of asking for a family representative, as space is a commodity.
We appreciate any donation. We accept as little as a dollar at-a-time. Honestly what pains us most other than one never giving a second thought to IMHA research, is that most people who make a donation feel that what they have to give is not enough. Please feel good that what you contribute IS good, and goes to cause not only near & dear to our hearts, but one that Many we have come to know (and LOVE) touched by this disease watch & wait for such a miracle [that] a cure would be, and none too soon.
We never feel a donation too small to graciously accept. If you can help us help others in Mica's name, please, give us your best. It's all Mica ever gave.
Until the launch of her foundation website, (which we will announce here) when PayPal will be a means of choice, one may send a check or money order to the credit union which manages the fund. One individual is responsible for Mica's Trust.
It looks odd, as written all run together, but it is correct.
Please make check payable to:

Many have been aware and asked recently again of another aspect of support for Mica's Cause. We wrote in Mica's diary awhile back, and a special mate drew our attention there.. here is an excerpt:
A corral may be a very special entitlement for some to give. We understand that. We also see that we have a rather unique situation in so much as for us it's a "plus" for research for the disease that took mica. It’s another dog altogether that is going out of their way to make the donation for a corral that a pal makes on our behalf. So, shameless or not, although I hope I am wrong and it is a popular thing to do, please consider that mate of ours who is wagging a tail today. We can hardly believe a full year has passed, only to hear of hundreds more diagnosed, and dozens upon dozens lost, in this short span of time.
If you can help us help others in mica's name, please, give us your best. It's all mica ever gave.
Another year has passed and countless others lost while many more face a sentence no dog or cat in their infinite gentleness should ever endure. We honestly wish we could but we can't do it alone.
Thank you for your consideration
Thank Dogster for their approval of our endeavor for the LOVE of dog

I Lakota woke this morning in a soft bed right by my humom. I am one of the lucky ones. Hannah is now able to wake in her own soft bed, her hunger clam. She is no longer sick and dying. I know she is one of the lucky ones. As Faith heads out to her monthly grooming, I know she too is one of the lucky ones. We all receive much love and care each and every day. Happiness fills our home, but sadness is always only a blink away.
As I look across our street, I see a little pup barking. This little pup was once cared for and loved. Now the pup never receives even a pat from the humans. The little pup is always sad and alone.
As we drive down the street, we see a pup being allowed to wonder in the middle of the road. The pup's fur is dirty and matted. Where are the humans that are suppose to care for the pup?? Nowhere in site.
As the TV plays, I hear commercials talking of all the animals in shelters. All waiting and hoping. They do not have much time. What will their fate be??
TV shows showing all the horrible abuse suffered from human hands.
No matter how much happiness we have in our home, there is always that cloud.
Will the cloud ever go away?
