I Was Bad

I kinda messed up this morning. Mom was thinking that Darius and I were starting to respect our boundaries of the invisible fence but I "broke out". I couldn't help myself, there was this cute little baby deer that was calling my name. I was overcome with the desire to play and run and chase and all that good stuff that makes me a bad girl some times. By the time I knew it I was a long way from home. Mom was soo worried about me but I was on my way back, honest. When I saw Mom I was soooooo happy that I jumped into the car without waiting (more bad on my part). I was so surprised that Mom didn't yell at me or anything. She just took me home and gave me a good brushing to get all the burs and grass out of my hair. I think she said something about revoking my yard freedom but I know she'll relent sooner or later (probably later than sooner though).

Three Years and Counting

Wheeee, I may be five years old but I've been with my pack now for three years!!!! It sure doesn't seem like it, but it really is true what they say - Time flies when you're having fun!!! So in the past three years I've found a forever home, met my new ohana, found Dogster friends, lost Yoda when she went to the Rainbow Bridge, helped Darius with two surgeries and moved to WV with mom and Darius. Not bad if you ask me. I can't wait to see what the next three years bring. I'm hoping more good times hiking with Mom and Darius, a new brother or sister and lots of time to run and play in my new yard!!!!!

Woof at ya later,

Kea

A Little Bit of Freedom

ARHOOOOO. I got off my leash in my own yard last night. Mom, Darius & I met with the guy that installed our invisible fence and he thought Darius and I could be off leash for some time each day when we're outside. Darius more than me, but then again he's a momma's boy!!! I got to run around in my own new yard. It was soooooo much fun. I'm hoping that means I'll be able to play every day. Maybe I'll even get my freedom in the mornings some time soon.

Woofs,

Kea

Oooh, I'm sorry Darius. I really didn't mean to snap at you. I just wanted my treats and we're both not happy bout all this moving stuff. Please forgive me. I think you're the bestest bro ever.

Movin' Time

You might wonder why we (Darius and I) haven't been playin' with you or barkin' lately. Well, it's a long story but I'll give you the short version. First as you all know we're now living in West Virginia and enjoying the cooler weather and the long walks on the C&O Canal Towpath. We moved here cuz Mom has a new job at Shepherd University. She's some sorta adminsomething. We know how much she loves us, but she's been spendin' an awful lot of time workin' so we're gonna have to get her to relax more. All that work doesn't give her time to type for us like we would want.

On top of that we're gonna move today and tomorrow into our NEW HOUSE!!!!!!! We've only been over a couple of times, but it sure has lots of room for us to run. We've got this thing called a basement that we didn't have in Texas. Part of it has carpet and boy is there lots of room to run and play down there. We're hopin' that Mom lets us play down there with her some times. There are lots of neat smells and we're gonna have an invisible fence around about an acre. Mom says she's eventually gonna fence in more space for us but that has to wait. Something about getting settled and then deciding on the fence.

We haven't met all our new neighbors yet but Mom says that there are some dogs and cats that live with some of them. There's also a walking trail right in the community that we can visit most days.

We'll bark at ya after we get settled (hopefully next week). Please don't give up on us.

What A Week and It's Only Monday

Wow has it been a great week (if you count Saturday). I got to go for another hike on the C&O Canal Towpath on Saturday. Lots of fun, wonderful swimming in the Potomac north of Shepherdstown. The only bad thing was that in my excitement I almost pulled Mom into the river with me. Good thing the mud was there for her boots to dig into. Sunday was a relaxing morning and then a walk around the neighborhood with Mom and Darius. (Mom had to work so we couldn't get on line and add to our diaries or play). Today when Mom checked my Pawmail I found out that I had been selected as co-member of the week at Love of Pups and Cats!!!!! I couldn't have been more surprised!!!!! I can tell that there are gonna be some great things happening this week.

Pawdicured Again

Rats, I thought Mom would be satisfied with one pawdicure in a week. Just my luck she figured out how to use the Dremel to do my nails. Doesn't she remember how I HATE to have my feet messed with. Of course it is lots better than the nail clippers and the best thing is that I get treats after she finishes each foot. Kinda makes it worth it. Maybe I'll get used to it and my nails will be nice and manicured. I just hope she doesn't put any polish on my nails. A trail walking outdoor dog like me doesn't need nail polish.

Comany from Florida

Oooh boy. We had company over the weekend. Jack and Irene came all the way from Florida to see us. We didn't get much walking in but we got lots of love and attention. The only bad thing is that Irene brought this noisy thing that trims nails. Mom tired it out and said that she was gonna get one to do my nails. I hates to have my nails done, but I think it is a little better than the clippers.

No Fun

Hey what's up with the lack of walking. Mom's been leaving us behind when she leaves again. I wish she would spend some more time walking with us. We're just getting used to all the new and fun stuff around here. Course it was rainy for a couple of days so I can understand that. Darius hates the rain and Mom wouldn't want to make him walk when he isn't having fun, but heck, it was nice yesterday and today has some promise. Maybe we can get some quality trail time today.

Another Day Another Hike

Boy I'm really likin' havin' Mom home. We got to go for another long walk yesterday. Not as much river time, but still lots of fun. We went for over three hours and hiked over 7 miles. The trail was really muddy and at the end we got to swim in the Potomac River for a little bit of time. We were so muddy from the trail that Mom was glad that we decided to get wet . That way we didn't need to be "washed" when we got home. I was so tired that I just curled up and went to sleep on the way home and then when I got home.

Later that day Mom brushed me. She said that my undercoat was getting long and I needed to get rid of some of it. Mom doesn't seem to understand that I don't mind the undercoat, even if it does come off and fly all over the house. Maybe this undercoat thing will go away soon so I don't have to spend 30 minutes getting brushed. At least she didn't trim my nails. I HATE pawdicures.

Oh well, let's see what today brings.
