I got a puppia

I got a brand new red Puppia soft harness today and I love it! My sister got one from her beau a little while ago and I was a bit jealous so mom bought one for me, Dragon, and Yuki. We all have Puppias now. Dragon got a blue one and Yuki got a gray one. Chester uses a gentle leader so he didn't get one. What lucky pups we are. Also, Dragon was microchipped today and I was thinking, whew I'm glad that wasn't me...BOL! Actually I lived that nightmare just after I was adopted so I did sympathize with him. We're fine though and mom feels better knowing we have a permanent form of ID.

My new brother Dragon is so much fun! We are really hitting it off well and I can't believe how fast he is! He's been with us a few weeks now and is fitting in better every day!

What a vacation!

Hi pals,

It was spring break so we went to visit our grandma in Indiana. She has two dogs named Sneaker and Sunny and it has been a few years since we saw them last. Sneaker is a party boy and I had fun playing with him. Sunny OTOH was much crabbier than the last time we saw him. He was not happy to have us there but for the most part we all got along well enough. It was a long drive, just over 8 hours to get there and we were all tired when we arrived. Thursday night it started to snow. It was a thunder snowstorm!!! You could hear the thunder and see an occasional lightning strike in the sky. Talk about weird! Then while were visiting, a new dog named Dragon arrived at grandma's house. I liked him and played with him. I didn't know it at the time, but he was to become my new brother! On Friday I got all excited to take another car ride with Mia and mom and dad, but I was unaware of where we were heading. They stopped at Just 4 Dogs grooming and walked me in with Mia and then they LEFT ME there! Not only that but Mia left with them and I swear I saw her grin and wiggle her butt as she pranced out the door. Usually mom grooms me but she really likes Misty and when we travel to Indiana she wants to have my hair cut professionally. So now I'm bald when she picks me up, once again Mia is grinning. We went straight to the ANIMAL CONTROL CENTER after that! What is she trying to do to me! Well, actually I knew we were going just to visit and say hi to all the staff. I got to show off my new do and everyone was so happy to see both me and Mia. We were the talk of the town. Finally after that hectic afternoon, we went back to grandma's house. We would spend another day and then on Saturday we all got back in the Subaru and headed home but with one small change. As I mentioned before, Dragon came home with us!! It has only been a few days but I think I'm going to really like him. We play on and off throughout the day. Well, that is my exciting vacation.

Homemade cookies!

I am allowed treats again! I had a couple weeks of treat fasting due to some tummy troubles, but I've been fine and can have treats again. Mom made some homemade beef biscuits tonight and I can't wait to try them. Technically she made them because tomorrow Mia celebrates her 3rd Gotcha Day with the family, but I can say they are for ending my treat fast, too!

Anyway diary, I'm feeling better and I'll be getting some yummy biscuits soon!

Rice and ground turkey

Not that I'm complaining or anything but all I'm getting for dinner is rice w/ground turkey. I woke with tummy troubles today. I lost my entire breakfast :(

I'm already feeling a little better so maybe it is something that just needed to run it's course. This morning was not fun at all, that is all I have to say. Anyway diary, I guess I just wanted to complain. I'm getting bland food for a couple days now to make sure I don't throw up anymore. I might even have to miss playgroups tomorrow :(

Here are my 7 furtastic facts:
1) It's no real secret......I love to eat!!! There isn't much I'm not willing to try.
2) Dad once gave me a pickle. I didn't eat it, but I dropped it on the floor and rolled on it for several minutes!
3) I finally have a girlfriend. Mischief said she'd go out with me :)
4) I don't care for Boston Terriers. No offense but they scare me.
5) If I need to go potty during the night, I jump up on daddy and thump him in the head with my paw. Works every time!
6) I have a wooly coat and when it gets a little longer like it is now, dad calls me his lambie pie!
7) My brother Bruno's birthday is Tuesday. I can't wait, that means we'll all get a special dinner.

Tummy troubles

Oh boy did I ever have tummy troubles yesterday. I was acting fairly normal but after breakfast I threw up 5 times!!! Mom thought I was done at 4 but later I had to throw up one more time. I was still acting fairly normal so mom said we'll watch and see how you do but if it keeps up we're heading straight to the dogtor. Thank goodness that was the last of it! At dinner I got a small helping of rice and ground turkey. It tasted great, but I wanted more. No luck, mom wanted my tummy to settle. She says I'll be on the rice and turkey mixture for a few days and my kibble will increase as the days go by. I'm not complaining because it really does taste good, but mom wishes she knew why I didn't feel good yesterday. Here's hoping all my Dogster pals are feeling good! Nobody wants to feel sick when Santa Paws is coming.

Oh yeah, one more thing. I saw a gift that mom bought me for Christmas and it's a portable pop-up soft sided crate! What the heck do I want that for! I want FOOD!! COOKIES!! The good stuff!! She says it will be SO much easier than lugging around my at home kennel on Saturdays! I hope I still get something good. Besides the crate is up by the tree and the cat keeps going in it. Maybe it should be HIS gift! BOL

Happy Holidays,
Ted (wants cookies) E.

A poem just for me!

My boy wrote this poem for me shortly after I was adopted in 2005. I just love it and would like to share it with all my Dogster pals. It's perfect for the holiday.

Twas the day of my birthday

Twas the day of my birthday without my family there.
I didn't expect any gifts and I didn't really care.

My mom and my brother both showed no emotion.
They hopped in the van and put it in motion.

They were both gone for hours, it seemed like forever.
Where could they be on this unknown endeavor?

My grandma was in the kitchen, my aunt in the hall.
My cousin Amanda was shopping at the mall.

My uncle was working on building a house.
My father was still in Champlin, oh what a louse!

I spent the whole summer away from my home.
Stuck starting a new school and feeling alone.

How could I expect my birthday to matter,
when no one made me a cake from some batter.

Then what to my wondering eyes should appear,
but my mom's big blue van with my brother in the rear.

They pulled in the driveway so cautious and slow.
I knew in an instant they must have a package in tow.

The van door flew open and in my mom's arm,
was a tiny ball of fluff kept free from harm.

She called me right over to see what she had.
She knew this sweet creature would make me so glad.

A new little Shih Tzu adopted from the pound.
A lifetime of love I knew he just found.

I named this boy Teddy because he looked like a bear,
with a puppy-like face and tan and white hair.

He yipped and he barked and he danced upon greeting.
What a wonderful way to start a new meeting.

Now it was time for him to meet the whole clan.
I called them all over to greet him first hand.

Now Bruno! Now Tara! Now Mia and Chester!
On Emmett! On Bitty and Sunny come faster!

They ran out the door just as quick as a flash.
All bunched up together they met with a crash.

They played in the backyard for hours on end.
I knew from that moment they'd always be friends.

This once discarded dog brought such joy to my heart.
A true birthday blessing, I know we'll never part.

The rest of the summer he helped me get through.
Then back to Minnesota in our van we flew.

But I heard my grandma say as we drove out of sight,
"Happy birthday to Zach and to all a good night!"

Dear Diary - Thankfulness

I've been reflecting and have come to the realization that I have so much to be thankful for during this Thanksgiving holiday season. I now have a family that adores me, a beautiful Shih Tzu friend named Mia, and lots and lots of pawsome Dogster pals that love me. I go to playgroups, eat lots of great food, and even get homemade treats. My one wish would be that ALL our furry friends that are unwanted out on the streets or in the shelters can also find a loving home and a soft warm bed on which to lay their weary heads. Pals, pawlease remember to pray for the homeless pets and hope that one day their lives can be blessed with the good fortune we all share.

Ted (so thankful) E.
