Our vet has recommended immediate hospitalization with the specialists at the U of M.

Mia has now had a total of 3 seizures in the last 16 hours but the vet feels these are secondary to some other underlying cause. They took x-rays since she is having difficulty breathing and the lungs are full of fluids. With finding the fluid in the lungs she isn't sure it is a brain tumor anymore. The vet is concerned that the fluid is blood because blood results show that the body is trying to produce more to compensate for a loss somewhere. They mentioned rat poison but we don't have ANY in our home and if by the slight chance that is the case, she was poisoned by a neighbor. We really don't think that is the case but it has to be a consideration. She also mentioned the possibilities of a stroke that dislodged a blood clot or the body attacking it's own red blood cells. Our vet feels very strongly that she needs to be on oxygen and have an expert read the x-rays to determine for sure if the fluid is indeed blood or not. In any event she is too weak to come home so off to the U of M she is heading for overnight care.

She is now considered in critical condition. She desperately needs prayers.

Mia is doing much better now that she has been placed in an oxygen chamber. She will stay in the chamber overnight. She saw a cardiologist and a neurologist and they are now leaning towards congestive heart failure. It is a terrible diagnosis but hopefully if that is the case, meds can buy her some more time.

My Momma is so sad to hear this. We are glad she is doing better tonight. We can't bare to lose her as I know you can't. We continue to send our thoughts to you.

So glad Mia is doing better. I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure several years before I crossed the Bridge. We're praying for Mia and I'm sprinkling Angel Dust over her, so she and your Family can enjoy each other for a long time.

We just saw your latest diary entry & our hearts dropped when we started reading it, but we are so glad to hear that your beautiful Mia is doing better tonight. All of our thoughts & prayers are with her & with you. We pray the vet's will be able to help her & give you more time together.

The vet will call us in a couple hours to update us on how she did overnight. I will post an update when I hear. I just wish I could stop crying but every time I turn around I'm reminded she is not here. We lost our beloved Chow Chow to CHF but hers was a gradual progression and medications helped her for over a year. Mia's seemingly came overnight and her last two days have eerily reminded me of Tara in her last days. I think that is the reason the tears keep falling.

Thank you all so much for all the support and for the power of the paw. If she does indeed have CHF, I just pray we are blessed with more time. I'm not ready to be without my baby girl.
