I am traveling to the Bridge today to see all my best pals. I'm so looking forward to seeing Angel, Snickers, Kita, Sadie, Sadie Mae, Duke, Sushi, Ben, Keely. Remo, LuckyLucy, Winston, Stella by Starlight, Jayke, and so many other pups who are waiting for me.
I am so grateful for all the wishes for a safe trip. I have the most wonderful friends here on Dogster and will miss you all terribly. I will be waiting for each one of you and will be first in line to greet you when it's time.
I love you Mom and Dad! Remember, I'll be waiting for you, but until then, please don't be sad. Know that I am playing bitey face with Angel again, laying in the sun, and running in circles.

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

In spite of all this gloom and doom, I've had a wonderful week. My honey, Teddy whisked me off to Las Vegas where we had a wonderful wedding! It was absolutely breathtaking with all the beautiful lights and music...and of course my Teddy's favorite....Elvis. Elvis sang a beautiful song to us. Do you think it was the real Elvis?
Teddy is the most dedicated boy I have ever met. What more could a girl ask for? Here I am close to the end of my life and he *still* wanted to marry me! Oh how I love my Teddy Bear.

Well, the liver biopsy did not come back with very good news. It appears the cancer has spread and I have the "bad" version of hysti0cytic sarcoma, which means that there is nothing they can do for me. They will put me on steriods for a bit to hopefully help me feel better enough to eat. Everyone tells me i'm too skinny.
Who would have thought this would be me?
Well, since it is what it is, I have to accept my fate. Despite all my health issues since I was a pup, I consider myself extremely lucky. I picked good parents who took care of my boo boos and sicknesses. They fed me lots and gave me more love than any pup could ever imagine. Who could ask for a better life?
My wish for is that my parents and auntie to try not to be sad. I came into their life for a reason and they for me. It's the way things were meant to be.
To all my friends on Dogster, you have been a blessing for me and my family with all your POPs and prayers. My wish for all of you is to love your humans with all your hearts (like that isn't hard for us Goldens, huh?)
We don't know how long it will be, but when it's time have faith that I will no longer be in pain. I will finally be with my best friend ever...Angel. I can't wait to play bitey ears with her again. :)
...and finally....Teddy. I Love You. You are the cutest boyfriend a girl could ever have. I will watch over you every day and when you are ready, I will be the first one at the Bridge waiting for you. My wish for you is that you live a long and happy life with your loving family.

...is one of the golden retrievers worst enemy. It's so common and so many of my golden friends have been impacted by this nasty stuff.
Now it's time for me to begin my battle. Just two short weeks ago, my favorite vet found a bump on my spleen. I went in for surgery immediately. He took my spleen and the tumor. I sure miss that spleen..BOL! Hey - you gotta have a sense of humor during these times.
Anyway - I'm still not feeling very well. Today's visit to the vet showed my white blood cells very high and my red cells very low. That is really not a very good sign. Plus all I want to do is sleep and food doesn't really taste very good. Doc Brett put me on antibiotics in case i have an infection and I'll go back in a couple of days for more tests.
This is really hard. I never really thought it would happen to me.

Today my little buddy Snickers passed to the Bridge. She was such a tiny little girl. She had been through a lot in her long life of 18 years! A few years ago she had cancer and the vet told us she would only live a few months! Look at that ~ she lived several more years!
She was such a trooper, but by the end of her life she was so frail. I was always afraid I was going to step on her and hurt her. She couldn't hear or see anything. Poor little girl. In the end, her kidney's failed and it was her time.
Rest easy sweet girl....we'll miss you, but glad that you are no longer in pain.

So there I was, minding my own business in MY backyard when a little creature wandered into MY territory.
Now I'm a friendly sort and I just like to check things out. I've had squirrels and fox and birds and rabbits in my yard and I've never chased them. But this one was different. It was quite cute and I just wanted to see what kind of dog it was.
Nobody really saw what happened next or even where in the yard, but the next thing I know my face is ALL wet!! What the...? I needed to wash my face and eyes!! I rolled and rolled in the grass.
Mom called me into the house (unsuspecting of course) and noticed that I was wet. She said "where have you been?", I just gave her the "deer in headlights" look. Then it hit her....the SMELL!! She said...Oh my god, you've met the skunk! Sheeshh..i was hoping she wouldn't notice, but man, do I STINK!
Needless to say I've had tomato juice baths (at least two of them). Good think my coat is already red!
Sigh...I was just trying to be nice. The next question is: Is it still out there? How did it get into my fenced yard and did it get out?
Oh boy...Good thing I have some Febreze Collars!! BOL!

Always remember to forget
The things that made you sad.
But never forget to remember
The things that made you glad.
Always remember to forget
The friends that proved untrue.
But never forget to remember
Those that have stuck by you.
Always remember to forget
The troubles that passed away.
But never forget to remember
The blessings that come each day.

What a perfect Christmas this was! We had a beautiful snow storm on Christmas day and I got to play and run and play in it!
I love the snow!
