Good morning Merlin my sweet and gentle giant.

Its looks like another glorious day, the sun is shining and bright, there is a gentle breeze, but I think it could get very hot today so you would have to be very careful not to get heat stroke, you could chase Spud but as I said, you would have to be careful not to get heat stroke.

I checked my first planting of runner beans, they don't look too good at all, yet the second planting which I did in compost filled pots seem to be growing very quickly, I've put bamboo canes in the pots for the beans to climb up, plus string for them to grow along to other posts. Although I may have to transplant the plants into the ground if they get too big. Mike my son pointed out that one of my potato plants has broken the surface of the ground, hopefully more will be coming up soon. According to articles I have read I could plant more seed potatoes in January, so I might be on the look out for early varieties instead of main crop. Mike my son said yesterday that it seems a lot of work and waiting just to get a few newly dug potatoes and runner beans onto a dinner plate. Spoken like someone who has never had the pleasure of eating freshly picked veggies, I can't wait to hear what he thinks when he eats them.

It looks like the weather is finally warming up at long last, spring is here I'm glad to say, I hate winter, but summer is going to be very hot this year, I'm going to have to put a lot of water outside for the pack, I would like to give them a play pool to cool off in, but I'm wondering if they will wreck it.

Its time for you to go play with your buddies my boy.

I love you and miss you so much my sweet and gentle giant.

Your ever loving Daddy.
