Hi all -
As i'm sure you've noticed, we haven't been around much lately. Mommy's work blocked Dogster on their computers so she can no longer update our pages or diaries on her lunch break, which leaves her very little time to come to dogster at all.
Also she's started a blog and that takes up a lot of time.
And even though it's a blog about writing, she lets me write a blog post every Friday - isn't that great?!
So if you're looking for me or Mommy (or even George or Tula) come check out Mommy's blog at http://falenformulatesfiction.blogspot.com/
Thinking of you often, Dogster pals!

Things have been OK lately. We went on vacation. It was pretty fun. I didn't get to go on the boat at all. The weather was kind of rainy so even Mom and stuff didn't go on the boat that much.
Instead everyone stayed inside and played a lot of games and watched movies. Tula hung out with Penny and they got in a lot of trouble (they even ate a whole bag of Penny's dog food - can you believe that?!) while I hung around with cranky old George.
Anyway, I've decided I like Tula a little more. Sometimes she can be fun to wrestle with. I try to teach her how to wrestle correctly (you know, on your back) but she tries to use her paws which makes me MAD. Especially since she's some sort of giant freak with HUGE paws. No thanks, I don't want those hammers on me.
Also sometimes, if I'm feeling real generous, I'll chase her around the yard a bit, after we've done some wrestling that is.
I got stung by a bee. AGAIN.
That's right - can you believe that? It's like the summer of stings or something.
We had just taken a walk and I was sitting on Mom's lap when she noticed I had a red bump on my foot. She looked closer and saw that I still had a stinger in it!
She tried to get it out herself, but it kind of hurt so I wouldn't sit still. She had to call Anne over and they managed to get it out then. It felt a lot better after that. But now it doesn't seem to be healing. It's like I still have this pink bump on my foot and it's been over a week for sure!
But it doesn't hurt any more so I suppose it's OK then.
At least my face didn't swell up again.
Peace Out

So the other morning I was in the office room with Mom and Anne and I went to go sit at Anne's feet when I saw something on the floor. Being my normally curious self I decided I should eat it.
But then it bit me back and I jumped away!
Anne looked down to see what was going on when she what it was that had attacked me.
"It's a bee!" she said and grabbed me away.
Can you believe a bee was just sitting on the floor waiting to get me like that?
It appeared to be injured because it didn't fly away or anything so Mom grabbed a piece of newspaper and managed to scoop it up and throw it outside, over the fence.
George, of course, being a boy, thought the bee was a great thing and kept sticking his foot out through the fence to try and drag the bee back. He kept doing that until Mom finally yelled at him.
But that's not where this story ends...
A few weeks later, my face was itching me pretty bad and I kept rubbing it on the couch. Mom just thought I was being silly. So when it was time to go to bed she brought me to Anne who gave me a kiss on the face. Anne said "you have a really pink face tonight" and Mom laughed and then brought me to the bed. But when she set me down and started looking at me closely she noticed that my face WAS really pink... in fact it was pink and swollen! My beautiful nose wrinkle looked like some sort of sausage rolled over my nose, and my beautiful cheeks were puffy and thick!
Mom called the ER vet and then off we went. Once there they gave me a shot until my swelling went down and then we went home. They said it was most likely a bee sting.
Can you believe that?!
Do you think it's possible that that nasty bee somehow got me back from bee heaven or wherever bees go?
The next 2 days I was sick to my stomach from those nasty stings, and I couldn't keep any of my food down, not even my bedtime carrot. But finally I was back to my normal self.
I hate bees.
Peace Out,
Yvie

I discovered a new thing I like to play with.
Water.
I know, right? Who would have thunk it? I mean, I’m no George - I’ll go outside in the rain to potty if I really have to go. But I don't like to be rained on either.
But lately Mom has been watering those grass seed patches in the yard. And there's something about that water that comes shooting out of the hose. It just splashes so alluringly on the ground - I just can't stand it!
I have to run over to that water and bite it over and over again.
When Mom's done watering the yard I am all soaking wet, and sometimes my belly is muddy too.
But I don't even care.
I'm going to get that hose water one day if it kills me!
Peace out!

What? WHAT?!
What are you talking about?
What do you mean "a new puppy"??!!!
That's just not possible!
I'm the puppy here - I'm the only princess allowed!
How many weeks until she arrives?
Less than a week??!! That's crazy!
And you and Anne have to fly on an airplane to go and get her?
That just doesn't add up at all.
All I can say is I'm not sharing my stuff with her.

The other day me, Anne, Mom and George were outside just hanging about. George was putzing around the yard while the rest of us were on the deck. Mom had recently taken down all the banisters on the deck in preparation to removing it and putting in a patio and since the deck is only about 12 inches of the ground George and I can get on it from any angle now.
Anyway we were on the deck when that pug Princess from next door ran over to her corner of her deck and stated barking at a dog in the park. Well I more or less can't stand that princess so I was going to run over to the fence and bark right back at her.
Only I forgot I was on the deck. So when I took a step forward I did a stupid thing (just like George) and did a faceplant on the ground. Then I fell over on my back.
Anne and mom scooped me up right away, of course. They should do that, I'm the REAL princess.
But I was ok and since then I've been a bit more careful about where I'm stepping.
Peace Out -

I know I mentioned recently that we were fostering a pair off guinea pigs, due to one of them having her eye squeezed out by an overanxious person. Unless you want to kill and eat the piggy (which I do, all the time,) it's very important to hold them carefully.
Anyway the piggies were here for quite a while. As we all know, I love to watch the resident pigs, but when we get fosters, well that's even better. New pigs = new smells= more chances to try and eat one. Also these piggies were kind of picky so whatever veggies they didn't eat with their dinner, George and I got to eat.
But the time came that Anne was going to bring the piggies back. Her eye had been removed and she had all healed up and it was time for them to go back to the shelter to find their forever home.
Anne had gotten them all ready in their transport cage and then went to take a shower. Mom was in the office working when she heard a lot of strange noises. She turned around and what did she see? Me on the dining room table giving one last attempt to get at them pigs! (see pictures above) Mom laughed and and took me off the table. She then pushed in the chairs.
But I'm pretty smart and managed to get on the table a second time.
Mom realized she had left one chair out and pushed that one in.
But then I got up on the table a 3rd time! I am awesome!
Mom took me off again and pushed in every chair as far as it could go under the table. After that I really couldn't get back on that table.
Sigh, I never get to eat a pig.
On a plus note, those piggies were adopted a few days later by a lady who's own 15 year old, one-eyed pig had died recently so I'm sure they're in a perfect forever home.
Just like me.
Peace Out,
Yvie.

The weather has been really nice lately. There's been a few rainy days, but there have been a few days where it was almost 80! Wow is that nice, especially after such a long, cold and snowy winter. Nice weather means I get to sit out on the deck and sun myself, or play catch with the Frisbee outside, or help Mom and Anne with the gardening. So many opportunities, not to mention walks, when the weather is nice. Well since the weather has been nice and there aren't really any bugs yet, Mom took to opening the deck door but shutting the screen. I'm not very good at recognizing screens. Once I took out a new screen door at Mom's Mom and Dad's house, but that was the first screen door I had ever seen.
Anyway Anne also has trouble seeing screen doors and she thought Mom had just left the door open so she shut the glass door. Later, we were going to go outside and play catch so George and I were excited. Anne told us to wait, which we did and she opened the glass door. Then she gave us our release - "Ok!" she said so I ran right at the deck. Mom noticed right away there was going to be a problem, but it was too late - Neither Anne nor I had noticed the screen door was shut and I plowed right into it, mashing my pretty face against the mesh.
I was ok, I wasn't hurt or anything, just embarrassed. Anne felt bad because she didn't see the screen either, but it was ok, I forgave her. Then we went outside and played with my Frisbee, so all in all, not a bad incident.
Peace Out,
Yvie

So the other day George and I got in a scuffle over some deli turkey. Ironically we were getting the turkey because we had behaved so well for getting our nails clipped and our teeth brushed. Normally we're really good around each other when we get yummy treats. But every once in a while we just get really mad. The scuffle was very brief and Mom and Anne broke it up right away but I had a cut on my chin. No biggie - we get cuts all the time when we wrestle just because we play hard.
So things were good for 2 days, my cut had a scab on it and it looked fine.
Then early Tuesday morning I threw up in Mom's bed. That was because I had some pineapple before bed and it just didn't sit well with me. But for the rest of our bed time I slept sitting up, which Mom noticed because I snored more. She thought it was because my tummy was upset.
Then when we got up and Mom fed us and she noticed that I was the last one to finish breakfast when usually I'm the very first. She let us outside and remarked on this strange fact to Anne. Anne then went to let us inside and she noticed that the left side of my face was a swollen mess!
She said "Oh no!" and Mom looked as well and they were shocked!
The cut on my chin had an abscess that had burst and it was dripping puss!
Good thing for Mom and Anne that they're fostering a cyclopean guinea pig right now who needs the exact same treatment on her missing eye.
They made a hot compress and drained my wound. Most the swelling went down, but Mom still took a picture (posted above). We then went to the vet when they shaved my chinny and flushed it out (they said there was nothing left to flush since Mom and Anne did a good job doing it themselves) and then gave me some antibiotics.
I had a good time because the vet gave me a lot of treats and said I was so cute and pretty. I was so happy that I even wagged my tail, which is really hard for me to do so I only do it on special occasions.
All in all, cut on my chin? Kind of worth it for the attention...
Peace Out,
Yvie
