I'm Home!!

Mom finally brought me home today and except for having to stay in a 4' X 6' pen for the next 4 weeks, I am one happy dog!! Mom has to be very carfeul and walk me outside for very short visits, but at least I am home! I am feeling better and the veterinarain told Mom it will be several weeks before we will know exactly how successful the surgery was. Thank you all for your support!!

Update on Wesley's surgery

First of all, many thanks for all the support we have recieved from so many of our Dogster pals. It means so much. Wesley came through surgery well and has actually been able to stand up in his cage which is a very good sign. He is still on pain medications and IV fluids and has eaten for the first time this morning. If all goes well, I hope to bring him home on Tuesday or Wednesday. It will take a few months for him to get back to normal, and hopefully he will be pain free. Thank you again for all your support.

Plese think of me . . .

Mom had to take me to a specialty veterinary clinic in the San Francisco area yesterday to have an MRI of my back as I am having pain and some difficulty walking. The MRI showed that I have a herniated disc in my back. I am undergoing 4 hours of surgery today and will have to stay hospitalized for 5 days. Your thoughts and prayers would be much appreciated . . .

My Visit to Dr. LaHue

Mom has noticed over the last 6 months that I have just not been very tolerant of exercise and heat and sometimes I make these funny choking/coughing noises for no apparent reason. So yesterday she took me to an orthopedic specialist thinking maybe my back was really bothering me as I do have some old age related arthritis in my back. But when she told him all the symptoms, he has decided that I may well have something call Laryngeal Paralysis. That is why I can't exercise like I used to, especially in heat! It doesn't allow me to breathe and pant like a normal dog. The good news is that there is a surgery that could very well cure it and by chance, Dr.LaHue is an expert at this surgery! So, Mom is going to do some more research on this condition and we will keep you posted on what we decide to do. Meanwhile, as long as Mom doesn't exercise me, I am feeling good. She sure is glad that she has health insurance on me!!

A visit from Wesley (my namesake and DOTW!!).

Last week while we were at our cabin at Donner Lake, we had a visit from our Dogster pal Wesley (my namesake), and his Dad John. We all went for a hike around Donner Lake. It was so much fun to finally meet everyone. Than we came home to find that our pal Wesley is this weeks Dogster's Dog Of The Week!! We are so proud of him!! We know that they are still on the road and hope that they soon get internet access so they will know.

Talk Like A Pirate Day!

One of our favorite days to decorate my page is coming up. "Talk Like A Pirate Day" will be on September 19th. We love to watch our Dogster friends dress up like pirates and see how they celebrate this fun day!

What's A Cowdog?

Every since Mom went to that cattle ranch and left us "boarding", things have been a little different around here. She has been telling me about all these really awesome Border Collies that were at the ranch and how they were some of the best working "cowdogs" that she had ever seen. Then she keeps telling me that it is in my "jeans" to be a cowdog too! First of all, I don't wear jeans and what the heck is a cowdog?? I think mom has been wearing her "jeans" a little to tight lately and it's cutting the circulation off to her brain or something!! I just wish I could have chased some of those cows like she did.

What Doe's Boarding Mean?

We are leaving for our cabin in the morning, but on Tuesday Mom says Sunny and I are going to be "boarded" for 5 days while she goes off to some cattle ranch in Nevada to ride horses. What the heck does that mean? She says Sunny and I will have a private "condo" with a TV that plays Animal Planet all day. She says there is also "playtime" outside for us too. I sure wish we could go to that cattle ranch with Mom cause I have always wanted to chase those cows! Instead, we get "boarded" while cowgirl Mom gets to chase cows!! How fair is that?
We thank all our friends for all the nice gifts you have been leaving and we will back with you when we get back--in about 10 days!

Our friend made it home!

Just wanted everyone to know that our good friend Wesley has made it back home!! We are so thankful for that. We know how sad his Dad was without him.
We are going to the cabin for awhile and will be back the end of next week. We hear there is still lots of snow there with all these late season snow storms. I guess Sunny and I will just have to play in the white stuff!!! Bark with you soon . . .

Our Dogster freind is missing . . .

We have a very good friend here on Dogster, his name is John, and his dog Wesley (yes, same name as me) is missing. They were out on a hike when Wesley caught the scent of a deer and took off after it. Wesley's Dad has been searching the area but has not found him yet. We can't do much from here in California except pray for his safe return. PLEASE find your way home soon friend . . .
