Yesterday we lost our dear friend Milly, our leader of the Schnauzers Rule group. It is so sad when you think of the pain her family must feel. I know it so well from losing Annie, Lexi and Boomer over the last couple of years. One moment life is so palpable, the next so ethereal. Milly brought us a wonderful place where she provided a gentle supportive gathering for all the schnauzers to explore and to share with each other. We became a kindred spirit in the area of schnauzers - an intense, smart, gregarious, mischievous, joyful little dog - just like the group. Milly always had a kind word, greeted every new member, sent out presents on special days. Even when she was ill, she & her mom managed to check in and remain positive. The group is only 1 year old, but it has drawn over 800 schnauzers to it. So many feel it's one of the best groups on Dogster - we happen to think so.
Dogster and Schnauzers Rule has brought a sense of community into our lives. We experience births and deaths, joy and pain, happiness and fear, laughter and tears. We share much with other parents about how to raise our dogs, how to care for them, how to keep them healthy. We share our triumphs, our mistakes. It's such a microcosm of the rest of our world. But there is something a little different about this place. These people are really nice people. Everyone that's here is a bit dog crazy & sees life from a positive perspective. At least that's our experience. We love giving what we can to others, and feel that it's returned 10 times more. We are blessed. We are thankful.
Milly, thank you for the legacy you left for schnauzers on dogster. We couldn't have done it without you - your gentleness, your encouragement, your support, your joy for life. We know you're watching over us and hope that someday you'll join us again. Take care of your parents, let them know that your spirit lives on. You live on in the hearts of many.
Here are 2 poems for Milly:
Bridge Called Love
It takes us back to brighter years,
to happier sunlit days
and to precious moments
that will be with us always.
And these fond recollections
are treasured in the heart
to bring us always close to those
from whom we had to part.
There is a bridge of memories
from earth to Heaven above...
It keeps our dear ones near us
It's the bridge that we call love.
Good-by To An Old Friend
Today your spirit chose to take flight and leave this earth,
And for a short time we shared all that was.
You made me laugh,
You made me cry,
You taught me to look at life through different eyes.
Your love was a constant, and you gave it freely,
Asking for nothing in return.
Today you are at peace.
I shall miss you old friend.
