the harder they fall!!!!!
Mum and me was watching the fight (she LOVES boxing!!!) and me well I love laying on the sofa. And we watched David Haye win the Beast from the East heavy weight crown!!!!
It was a pawsome match and it couldnt have happened to a nicer fella! David Haye was on Paul OGrady last week (we'll see if we can find the link on youtube and I'll put it on my page) and mum fell in love with him. Not only has he got phwoar looks but a great personality (not like beckham whose a bit wooden) and a fit body but he has got great charisma.
The match was against the jolly green giant hehehe Well he was a giant:) It was against the man mountain Russian Nikolai Valuev. Whose over a foot taller than Haye and 7 stones heavier WOW!
We have to admit we didnt hold much hope for him and mum was wondering if she should miss the match as she was positive that he would lose. But we thought we'd give it a shot (and also the fireworks show we was going to go to was cancelled as it was too rainy and windy up here).
heres the newspaper link to the fight....
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/more_spo rt/boxing/article6908262.ece
We gotto go as mum has still got a huge smile on her face and she has gotto get rid of it before dad gets up (hes not partial on David Haye...we cant think why!!).
Heres the walk through of it if you guys are interested....
http://timesonline.typepad.com/boxing/2009 /11/haye-v-valuev-roundbyround.html
But Ladies..check out his piccie.....we think dad is gonna put a ban on the sites we can visit that has David Hayes piccie on it as mum just goes phwoarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr all the time!!!

hehehehehehe arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrroooooooooooooo
well, mum and dad was in Kensington yesterday and went to Oxford street (it seems the lights this year will be based on the christmas carol). And well when your in London you have to visit Harrods. Dad told mum that dogs are banned BUT she saw a man walk in with a normal Brown lab dog and he went to the dog section (Yeap tis true!!!). So dad put a BAN on mum from buying anything in Harrods esp any doggie stuff. She saw some absolutely gorgeous collars and leads for us but even mum had to admit that when you multiply anything by 5 it does come to a pretty penny and she couldnt warrent spending 2 grand for us.....so mean!!!
But what we was SURPRISED on was Harrods sells live stock namely DOGS!
There was a few tri colour shih tzus up there for £1200, a lhasa apso and a brown lab puppy (we think). As well as hamsters/ rabbits/ guinea pigs and some other animals.
We havent in a long time seen dogs for sale in pet shops, usually you get them from breeders or rescues NOT from pet shops and def not from dept stores.....so what the bark is going on there?
Anyway you might be asking why my entry is named UP YOUR VIVA!
Well theres a new channel opening up over here that is connected to europe (not canada) and the advert is about one guy phoning up another guy while hes in the toilet and saying *Up your viva* well mum did that to dad and its supposed to be shouted back down the phone....hehehehe but dad wouldnt do it cos mum did it when he was in harrods toilets!!!!! heheheh so doggy funny!
Anyway...Alfies got a diary entry conecting to Dr who he wants to shout so seel you guys later! X

Well I thought I would do a pupdate every month of what has been going on in my lil corner of the world wide web.
So lets start with October and it being the Cancer month. So far this month us tzus have donated to various cancer charities that have been collecting on our local high street and also collected a selection of different pins.
Here are some of the ones we have donated to and also their websites...
www.breastcancercare.org.uk (the pin is strippy and cute!)
www.breastcancercampaign.org the pin is pink with a bit of puzzle on the end.
www.cancerresearch.org.uk which is a cool camoflauge (sp?) and childrens cancer (a blue and white sticker) , amongst others (we didnt collect the pins from them.
So if theres one thing you do this month please donate to a cancer charity :)
But the one thing us tzus have been HATING! this month is the chestnutting!!!!
Our CRUEL< CRUEL MUM has been taking us though the woodlands and it has been strewn with fallen chestnuts in their spiky shells!! OUCH!
Those lil blighters have been the achilles heel to us tzus!
Every where we have turned they have been under us lil tootsies! Stuck to our fur (even in our neither regions ooooooooooooooooooo heheheheh...cheap thrills we know hehehehe)
AND
Have we eaten any of them you can bet you bum we didnt!!! It seems that for the first time this year we have had enough of nutters and have gone nutfree!!! hehehehe
But we have been surprised by the amount of people that have been collecting the chestnuts!
We have meet french/ american/ polish/ chinese/ japanese/ canadian/ irish/ africans and various other nationalities that we have had the pleasure to meet. And surprising the ones that have stroked us was the canadians/ americans and polish. hehehehe and we DIDNT bark at all. I fell in love (as I always do) with a young canadian woman and Winnie fell in love with a charismatic american man.
It seems our trees went overboard with the chestnuts and even though its three weeks into october we have yet more chestnuts falling! We think its becuase the wind has finally died down and the chestnuts are falling naturally unlike our three panels of fencing/ our two parasols our outdoor bin lids and a few other things that had a untimely death this year because of the winds. We could actually sit outside in the last few days and not be blown away!
What else has happened this month?
Our dad has been in hospital for a couple of days having major surgery (at the start of the month) and is due to go back at christmas. Hes on the mend finally paws crossed but mum has found a couple more grey hairs as all of us HATE hospitals and he had to go to DEATH valley...whoops darenth hospital.
But the good news is we got the nyce gurls letter! And we are Jealous of the huge land they have got!
We live in a lil village at a top of a huge hill (the hill is nicknamed heart attack hill) . If you walk it from our main road its like a mile of up hill that our mum and dad finds knackering. Even seasoned bike riders have been known to get off of thier cycles because its so steep. we'll have to take a piccie of us on part of it...if dad is up to it (he's slowly increasing his exercises).
Anyway I best be going....yawn* as its not far off of 8pm here and dad wants to use the pc and we all know that Dads have to have thier own way otherwise they because spoilt brats unlike us of course hehehehehe
Hope we havent bored ya to much:)
and remember to donate this month........
hugs to ya
XoXoXo

makes you go.......ooooooooooooooooo lmao....are we tzus evil?!?!?!?!??!
A cheating wife was caught by her husband after he spotted their faithful Yorkshire terrier tied up outside a bar.
The 40-year-old man was out with the couple's two young children when he spotted the dog tethered to a lamp post. The pet happily started barking when he spotted his master.
Earlier the unnamed man's wife, 35, had told him she was taking the dog for a walk to meet friends for a coffee. She said she would be back in a couple of hours.
But as the man walked past the pub in Caltanissetta, Sicily, the excited canine inadvertently uncovered her lie.
The man stopped to look in the bar for his wife - but was stunned to see her in a passionate clinch with the owner.
He stormed inside and had a furious argument with his wife which ended in a brawl with her lover.
Police were eventually called to calm the situation down. The owner was taken to hospital where he was treated for cuts and bruises before being discharged.
A police spokesman said: 'Officers were called to the scene and the situation was explained to them by those involved.
'The wife was caught out by the family's pet Yorkshire - dog's certainly are a man's best friend it would seem.
'We have taken no action against the man but I understand he has contacted lawyers and the couple are divorcing.'

hehehehe I'm just a lil sausage dog arent I:))))
Well today we woke mum up EARLY about 4am and do you know what she did? She come down stairs let us out into the garden, brought us back in and fell asleep on the sofa!! HUH? what about our walk? She said its too dark to take us out at that time so she took us out at about 5. 30ish and it was so cold!
She had on a jacket and a body warmer and we had nothing...zilch...just our fur to keep us warm....tsk! Gonna complain to RSPCA about that methinks!!!
So, we went to the country park and chased the bunnies, and Alfie finally joined me Floppy and Winnie chasing those darn bunnies and we nearly had them if they didnt have such long strides!!!
We got home and went to nannies bedroom (just in case you dont know nanny and us live together) and we gave her a good dirty paws yappy woofday treat! We then run into our peeps bedroom where dad was asleep and he was slightly less forgiving for us getting the bedding slightly mucky whoops!
So we had a tag race down stairs...this involves pulling cinders tail her getting very stoppy and then picking on all of us one by one hehehehehe SO MUCH fun!
Then it was time to give nanny all of her cards and pressies...we had to save up our pocket money for this....WOW its a good thing bed and board is provided free of charge in this house. And we had the most delicious madeira fairy cakes...yummy!
My throat is so much better than it was for the last couple of days..but I'm still not eating anything chewy or hard like pigs ears/ tripe etc.
So, we have had duck today/ chicken/ rabbit and freshly cooked rice. Hehehehe its so much fun, when one of us is ill as all of us gets a special diet...hence us playing on being ill:)))))
Its now quarter to 8 in the evening and we're just cosying down for a long snooze......
Hope everyone is having a ggggreat weekend!
XoXOXO

OKay we thought we'd tell you a few bits of news happenings in our life life this last week.
The bad news is our furiend has past away. She was a Jack russell and she caught the same bug that has been affecting all of us tzus. But as she was old and had lungworm she passed away.
The OK news...Quinn collapsed last night. BUT he's fine! What had happened was he went outside and picked up a few things and was eating them whole. Well he chose some things that got lodged in his throat. Luckily I went outside and saw him laying on his side , froth coming out of his nose and convalsing (sp). I did HIT him on his back a few times and massaged his neck. He finally brought up a hard bit of cheese or plastic (not quite sure what it was) So we stayed up all last night and he was eating bits and bobs but he is fine. I swear though he (and the others) are trying to age me the lil rascals!!!
The good news! Well you might have heard we wont be going to Scotland in the autumn as Dad cant get his time off of work! But nan is NOT going to Devon now even though her holiday is paid for! She shouldve been going today as its her 66 birthday on the 13th BUT she has chosen to stay with us! So all of us tzus are so happy!
Also!!!!!
We have got a new addition to the family!!! Our step brother Aaron (a human) has had a Baby boy a couple of days ago called Charlie! So we are so pleased for him and his girlfriend....now will we be able to hear wedding bells in the future?
HUgs to everyone on this special day.....we are thinking of everyone who was affected directly or indirectly by the events of 2001.....

Hello dogsterians!!!
Well after the last few days I have finally felt relief!
I got my peeps worried but thankfully everything (paws touching wood) seems to be in working order and I'm doing GREAT!
well, I thought that as we havent been on as much as what we shouldve as our peeps have been working, caring for nanny and looking after us. We should involve a tag game that also concerns our peeps....... I'll also be tagging five of my buds ...e
So this tag game is about what our peeps think of us:)
Q1. What would your mum/dad say is your most annoying/ cute habit?
A. Well I have got a habit that does drive everyone up the wall!! hehehe I like to lay under thier feet when they are sitting down. I'll push my body right up against their feet until they lift them up and then i stretch myself out:)
Q2. Does your mum/ dad dress you up? And if so, what is their favourite costume for you?
A. Yeap all the time! Mum likes me in my tux and shirt. Dad likes me wearing my goggling glasses and looking like a nerd:)
Q3. Does your mum/ dad give you a good night/ good morning kiss?
A. Yeap! And I give them one back as well! hehehe
Q4. Are you taken for walks and if so who by?
A. Well I'm taken for walks everyday and its by my mum....we have this bond which gives me the right to wake her up every morning cos I'm dying to go for a wee wee's!
Q5. Do you get presents *just because*?
A. Yeap, when my peeps go out and bring back bags full of shopping I just have to investigate them and see what they have brought me hehehehe:)

Well where do I start?
We took the tzu five out on sunday morning to medway maritime and they absolutely enjoyed it. They where off lead for part of it and was running around being lil terrors:) And we wanted to go into Dickens world but we found out you couldnt take dogs into it so we had to put that off.
Quinn was (and the rest) was doing great. They was all energetic and being right lil rascals!
Monday come and I took them out on a walk to gravesend (it was about a four mile walk) and they was fine. A bit tired at the end of it but fine.
Then me and Glenn went to Cobham Fete and left my dogs with my mum # O...before I forget ~ Quinn had messed in his pen so I had to clean it out and wash his bedding etc ~ BUT they was NO BLOOD! .....
We was only there for a while when we thought we should go to Dickens World. We had left the dogs with my mum and know that they should be okay.
We got home at 4pmish and found out that Quinn had Diarrhoea...slightly unusual for him but we cleaned it up and kept a check on him.
Well between last night and this morning Quinn has been bleeding from his back passage. It is only when he wants to do his business but he is still bleeding blood...
We are so devastated!!!
If any of you guys have any ideas what this could be ...please send us a private message....
I'm waiting for the vets to open to get him in.......
If any of you guys know what this could be.....any ideas.....please please write us a message...
Just to let you guys know....
The food chart for Quinn has been this....

Be an Angel Day
When : Always August 22
Be an Angel Day encourages us to do acts of kindness, and to help others.
This special day has strong religious roots. Jayne Howard Feldman, the creator of this day, says she was inspired by angels to create this day on August 22.
The objective of this day is to be like an angel, and do something good or kind for someone. It encourages us to be God's servant in doing good things for others. It is intended to do something nice or kind for someone who is in need of help. The type of angelic help you can offer is not defined or limited. It can be physical, emotional, or spiritual.
Be an Angel Day is for both the giver and the receiver. If you are the receiver, make certain to express openly your appreciation. And, recognize the angel in your life as being sent from God.
Tzus thoughts: So will you be celebrating today?

A boxer dog which fell off the back of a lorry after a 1,300-mile trip from Spain is being made an internet star in a bid to reunite it with its owner.
Angel was found in the car park of the B&Q store in Taunton, Somerset, and handed in to animal welfare officers who thought she was just another stray.
But they were shocked to discover she was microchipped and her home was listed at an address in Malaga, Spain.
Officers at Somerset County Council's animal health and welfare team said Angel, a nine-year-old red and white boxer, is thought to have illegally entered the UK in a lorry.
They have been trying to locate her owner but so far have had no success.
So they have made a film about her story called Angel Falls Off The Back Of A Lorry and posted it on YouTube, hoping to attract worldwide publicity and that her owner will come forward.
Helen Gloyn, senior animal health and welfare inspector, said the dog was taken to the RSPCA West Hatch centre near Taunton by a member of the public who found her in the car park.
"We made some inquiries with the local police and Defra but have been unable to trace anybody. The RSPCA made further inquiries and found her microchip and that she was first registered to an address in Malaga.
"It is likely that Angel may have been in the UK for some time and was imported into the country in compliance with legislation but in the absence of that information we have to consider the chance that she may have come here on a lorry from Europe or further afield."
Angel is now being cared for by the South Western Boxer Club during her six-month quarantine. They said they will look to re-home her if she is not reunited with her owner.
Quinns thought: All us tzus are hoping Angel finds her owner...paws crossed!

Now I'm a countryside dog but even I know that there are some evil people around...Mum has said to me not to run off just in case I encounter some people who are not very partial on dogs...BUT when we read this story it made my lil tzu blood boil.....it made the 5 tzus wanna go up cambs and teach those youths a lesson!!!
One of Britain's ugliest dogs is recovering after he was attacked by a gang of youths who pulled out his only clump of hair, his owner said. Skip related content
Mugly, who was named Britain's Ugliest Dog by a national newspaper in 2005, was set on by a gang of teenagers after he went missing from his home in Peterborough, Cambs.
The five-year-old Shitzu-Chinese Crested cross was rescued by a passer-by who saved him from the teenagers who were punching and kicking him in a nearby park.
"They even pulled out his clump of hair," said owner Bev Nicholson, 46. "It was the only hair he had."
She said: "Mugly leapt out of the lounge window last Thursday. He must have seen someone outside because he is a real 'people dog'.
"We searched high and low for hours and put posters up around the neighbourhood. I was convinced he had ended up under a car.
"About five hours after he went missing I got a phone call from a lady saying, 'I think I found your dog in a park, but don't get too excited because I had to pry him away from five 11-15-year-olds who were kicking him, punching him and hitting him with a stick'."
Mrs Nicholson said she took Mugly to the vets where he was treated for bruises and a couple of sores.
She added: "Mugly's bruises are really coming out now. He is a little jumpy but in the circumstances he is doing really well.
"People might say he is ugly but when you spend a minute with him you think he's gorgeous because of his personality."

Harry Patch, the last survivor of World War One to fight in the trenches, has died.
He passed away at Fletcher House, the care home in Somerset where he was living. He was 111.
The care home released a statement which read: "It is with much sadness that we must announce the death of Mr Harry Patch at the age of 111."
The statement continued: "Funeral arrangements are being made in accordance with Mr Patch's wishes, and we wish to extend our deepest sympathies to his family, friends and the residents and staff of Fletcher House."
Mr Patch, known as the Last Tommy, fought in the battle of Passchendaele in 1917 in which more than 70,000 British troops died.
He became Britain's oldest man when another veteran of the war, Henry Allingham, died on July 18 aged 113.
Mr Patch was a machine-gunner in the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry. He served in the trenches as a private from June to September 1917.
Born on June 17 1898, he grew up in Combe Down, near Bath, and left school at the age of 15 to train as a plumber. He was 16 when war broke out and reached 18 as conscription was being introduced and after six months training he was sent to the front line.
Mr Patch joined two other veterans of the First World War - Mr Allingham and Bill Stone - to lay wreaths at the Cenotaph in central London on Armistice Day last November. All three men have now died.
At the time he said: "I am very happy to be here today. It is not just an honour for me but for an entire generation. It is important to remember the dead from both sides of the conflict. Irrespective of the uniforms we wore, we were all victims."
Us tzus are in mourning for the last tommy........

Us tzus saw this story and thought we'd share it with ya:)
It's not unusual for visually-impaired humans to rely on a guide dog - but now a shelter in Norfolk has found a blind border collie with his own inseparable canine companion.
Best friends Bonnie and Clyde were brought to the animal shelter in Norfolk after they were found wandering the streets in a rain storm.
When the pair are together Clyde, five, seems as capable as a fully sighted dog - but he won't move unless Bonnie, two, is close.
Bonnie guides him on walks or towards food and lets him rest on her when he becomes disorientated.
Cherie Cootes, who runs the Meadown Green Dog Rescue Centre in Loddon, Norfolk, said: "He totally relies on her the whole time. When she walks she tends to stop and make sure he's there - she does look out for him."
Vicky Bell, a spokeswoman for Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, said she had never heard of a dog voluntarily acting as a guide for another dog.
"There's absolutely no option of homing them separately - they have to go as a pair," she said. "This is a very unusual case - it's such a lovely story.
"Some dogs take to guiding better than others because they naturally have the right temperament."

Well we have heard talk from our peeps about having a northern holiday and where they could be going. Well the furthest north we pups have been is well London. So we are so looking forward to going up north at all.
Our peeps have been discussing Scotland and Loch Lomond or Loch Ness has been mentioned. Well we would LOVE to go to Loch Ness as that is where Nessie is meant to be but as mum likes to point out all animals like to have a holiday and she could just see the Loch ness monster settling down in other parts of Scotland so she might be able to persuade Dad to take us to Loch Lomand or to other places in Scotland.
It has been mentioned that it is a bit of a drive from our home (we live in the south) to up Narf! Around about 8 hours. But we could have pictures taken at interesting parts from the country and hopefully make a lil diary of all our exploits hehehehehe
But we are not sure if we are going away this year or just our peeps sniff*.
So keep your paws cross for us:)

It is still getting light and so there is a few wildlife around and Winnie went running after a fox ~whats that pangram about a fox. Thats it *The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog*:) Well this lil gurl certainly wasnt lazy but the fox JUST had the edge.
The good thing about getting up early is that its my 5 woofday!!!! Yeap, I managed it ~ I've played up, been romantic, jumped in the pond, run after cyclists/ runners/ livestock (when I was a pup) crossed the roads unmanned and I achieved 5 years old:) Against the odds phew!

Our mum is a seventies gurl (yeap she was born o so many years ago) and was brought up on a whole wide mixture of music. She can remember singing to a multitude of jackson stuff and even got into other stuff that wanted to be like the Jacksons. Does anyone else remember 5 star etc?
Well, we couldnt let this day go by without saying we're gonna miss the big guy and like Elvis and Marilyn andmany stars before him...he will be missed....
Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009) was an American recording artist, entertainer and businessman. The seventh child of the Jackson family, he made his debut as an entertainer in 1968 as a member of The Jackson 5. He then began a solo career in 1971 while still a member of the group, and that successful career led to him being dubbed the "King of Pop" in subsequent years. Jackson's 1982 album Thriller remains the world's best-selling album of all time, and four of his other solo studio albums are among the world's best-selling records: Off the Wall (1979), Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991) and HIStory (1995).
In the early 1980s, he became a dominant figure in American popular music and culture. He was the first African American entertainer to amass a strong crossover following on MTV, with videos such as "Beat It", "Billie Jean" and Thriller—widely credited with transforming the music video from a promotional tool into an art form—bringing fame to the relatively new channel. Videos such as "Black or White" and "Scream" made Jackson an enduring staple on MTV well into the 1990s. Beyond his success on television, Jackson popularized a number of physically complicated dance techniques, such as the robot and the moonwalk, with his elaborate stage performances. His distinctive musical sound and vocal style influenced many hip hop, pop music and contemporary R&B artists across several generations.
Jackson donated and raised millions of dollars for beneficial causes through his Heal the World Foundation, charity singles, and support of 39 charities. Other aspects of his personal life, including his changing appearances and behavior, generated significant controversy that damaged his public image. Though he was accused of child sexual abuse in 1993, the criminal investigation was closed due to lack of evidence and Jackson was not charged. The singer had experienced health concerns since the early 1990s along with conflicting reports regarding the state of his finances since the late 1990s. Jackson married twice and fathered three children, actions which caused further controversy. In 2005, Jackson was tried and acquitted of different sexual abuse allegations and several other charges. The singer died on June 25, 2009, aged 50, after suffering cardiac arrest.
One of the few artists to have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, his other achievements include multiple Guinness World Records—including one for "Most Successful Entertainer of All Time"—13 Grammy Awards, 13 number one singles in his solo career—more than any other male artist in the Hot 100 era—and the sales of over 750 million records worldwide. Jackson's highly publicized personal life, coupled with his successful career, has made him a part of popular culture for almost four decades.

Did everyone have a great July 4th?
We did:)
We couldnt get on the internet as again it was playing up:(
So we instead went down to the marshes near our home (which we rarely do) and spent a whole load of time down there looking at boats and talking to other peeps:)
We run around the fort ruins there, played amongst the rocks and enjoyed our selves so much that we want our folks to take us down there again.:)
Yappy weekend everyone!

Two German Shepherd police dogs have died in the heatwave after being left in a car by their handler.
Dogs are widely used by police forces across the country
The dogs were found dead in a police car parked outside Nottinghamshire's force headquarters in Arnold at 2.15pm on Wednesday.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission said it received a referral from the force and is deciding whether to investigate - the RSPCA is investigating the incident.
A statement from Nottinghamshire Police said the welfare of its animals was "of paramount importance".
It said: "We endeavour to take every measure possible to ensure their well-being and safety."
It takes nine weeks of intensive training and costs more than £7,000 before a police dog can go out on patrol.
The maximum sentence for causing unnecessary suffering to an animal is six months in prison and a £20,000 fine.
Nottinghamshire Police said the handler has not been suspended.
Peter Davies, the force's assistant chief constable, said: "This is a tragic incident and we value the important work our police dogs carry out on a daily basis. That is why we swiftly reported this incident to the RSPCA and we will be working with them very closely."
It is believed the dogs' handler was not on duty at the time and had called in to the force's headquarters at Sherwood Lodge, leaving the dogs to over-heat in the parked car. It is not known how long they were left in the car but temperatures in Nottingham on Wednesday hit 29.4C.

We found this bit of news for you dogsterians to read:)
A hero dog who lost his life trying to save a group of children from a Pit Bull attack has been awarded the top honour for pet bravery. t
George the Jack Russell was given a posthumous PDSA Gold Medal, the animal equivalent of the George Cross, at a special ceremony in his home town.
He had been out for a walk with five local children, aged between three and 12 years old, when a pair of Pit Bull Terriers set upon them.
The 14-year-old dog sustained significant injuries as he shielded the youngsters from the attack. He later died from his wounds.
Hundreds of people, including the children he saved, turned out to honour George at the presentation in Manaia, New Zealand.
Governor-General Anand Satyanand handed over the award to George's owner, widower Alan Gay, on behalf of British veterinary charity PDSA.
The medal was hung around the neck of a statue of the brave dog, which has been erected in the town in his memory.
"There's no doubt that George was a small dog with a lion's share of courage," said PDSA director general Jan McLoughlin.
"Each account of his devotion to the five children on the day of the incident tells of a dog that was not afraid to face great fear in order to protect his friends.
"The children will never forget George's sacrifice and PDSA is proud to honour this exceptionally brave dog."
The PDSA Gold Medal is the highest honour for outstanding animal bravery and exceptional dedication.

It will come as no surprise to dog lovers, but man's best friend is remarkably good at detecting our moods.
A study has shown that dogs look for signs of anger, irritation or happiness in faces in exactly the same way that people do.
Scientists believe dogs have evolved their 'face reading' skills over thousands of generations as a way of avoiding an unwelcome kick.
They say that dogs deal differently with human faces from any other image, and that their method of processing the information is the same as humans use.
Past studies have shown that human faces are lop-sided when it comes to showing emotion.
Moods such as anger, pleasure and fright are expressed far more clearly on the right side of our faces than on the left.
Researchers say the right side of a face is more expressive because it is controlled by the left hemisphere of the brain, which deals with emotions.
When most people meet a stranger face on, their gaze tends to shift to the left and they watch the right side of the unfamiliar face. The phenomenon - known as 'left gaze bias' - has been shown time after time in experiments.
Now a team led by Dr Kun Guo from the University of Lincoln have found that dogs show the same preference, New Scientist magazine reports.
The researchers showed images of people, dogs, monkeys and inanimate objects to 17 pets and filmed the animals' head and eye movements.
When the dogs looked at pictures of animals, their eyes flicked evenly across the image. But when they were presented with human faces they tended to gaze to the left, just as people do.
Dr Guo said the bias evolved in domestic dogs to help them gauge human emotions. They do not deal with animal faces in the same way because these are less important in expressing emotion.
A second study found that dogs have a much stronger bias to the left when looking at angry faces rather than happy or neutral ones.
The discovery suggests it is far more important for dogs to gauge a human's mood quickly and accurately when a person is angry, and therefore possibly violent.
Quinn's trail of thought: I dunno if all that is true, but I can gather when I'm gonna geta treat or not and its not just by the expression on my humums face its the *do you want......* that gives it away hehehehehe

Financially-crippled Iceland has sent a container filled with jumpers, socks and blankets to Britain's freezing pensioners.
It follows a charitable appeal on popular Icelandic show Bitid, on the Bylgian radio station, after it ran a story featuring Britain's National Pensioners Convention and its warning that up to one in 12 pensioners could die from the cold this winter.
The consignment is being shipped by freight company Samskip and will arrive at Immingham, Grimsby, on January 26.
The Icelandic organisers hope to formally hand over the garments at the end of next week to a charity of welfare organisation in the city of Hull - twinned with Reykjavik - to distribute to local pensioners.
NPC spokesperson Neil Duncan-Jordan said: "This is a fantastic and generous act of compassion from the people of Iceland, particularly at a time when their own economic situation is extremely difficult.
"But it is also a shocking indictment of the UK Government's complete inability to properly tackle the problem of winter deaths amongst older people. In the last decade we have lost 260,000 pensioners during the winter months and the response from Whitehall has been a deafening silence."
He added: "We hope this act of kindness will shame the Government into raising the state pension and the winter fuel allowance so that pensioners have the confidence to turn on the heating when they need it without the fear of what it might cost."
Icelandic broadcaster Heimir Karlsson said: "When we broadcast the story that UK pensioners were dying from the cold, our listeners could not believe their own ears. We decided to give the Icelandic nation four days to fill a 20ft container of pure Icelandic wool for the pensioners in Britain.
"Families, some from far away, came one after another with garments to fill the container. Some of the sweaters were brand new. One nine-year-old girl gathered 37 beautiful sweaters and delivered it to us at the radio station."
Between December 2007 and March 2008, 25,300 older people in England and Wales died of cold related illnesses - a 7 per cent increase on last year's figure of 23,740.
Meanwhile, in Iceland, two police officers were injured during clashes with protesters when tear gas was used against anti-government protesters outside parliament.
Demonstrations have become a regular occurrance after Iceland's currency plunged and the financial system collapsed in October due to billions of dollars of foreign debt incurred by banks.
Quinndred Spirit thought: We are truly blessed where we live as situated behind our house is many small bungalows that house OAPs but in the past year we have lost about 10 OAPs to age related illnesses. Us tzus have tried our hardest though to keep up the moral of the pensioners .....well actually our humum has said that when the OAPS see us walking along it looks like a carpet of fur moving hehehehe.
But we just wanted to say remember the OAPs in your area and make sure they are being looked after. It only takes a few of your muscles to smile but it can mean a great deal to the man or woman:).

Well our humum is going into work later so she took us on a almighty walk and we saw a few of our friends that we havent seen since the weekend!
Boy has it been a unexpected morning already!
Dad has gone down to Portsmouth for work and was going to take mum with him but mum decided she'll stay home and go to work later (shes doing the afternoon shift ~ which means a short shift and we get to be with her for longer!!!).
So she took us out on a HUGE walk!
So there we was walking along when mum spys her friend that she always chinwags to and she was having a good gossip with him when I decided that I would run off with his two black labrodors (gorgeous dogs!) The guy was saying to mum, your lil gurl has eloped with my two boys and mum nearly peed herself laughing hehehehehe. She thought it was funny that he had mistaken the ruff tuff hard boy aka me for a FEMALE!
She said well I doubt they'll get far especially as thats a boy shih tzu and the bloke laughed at his mistake!
Then when we got home we found a lil human girl outside our house. Her peeps had gone to work and her school was shut today. So as we live out in the countryside and anything could happen she come in to play with us. An hour and a half later her mum comes to pick her up and we had the most pawsome playdate!
But the best thing about today was that when we got back from the walk, and after playing with that lil girl for a while...we looked at our email and found that I am Dog Of The Day!
Can this day get any better?!?!?!?!?!?!

I've been tagged by the blossoming beauty of Trixie Mae. Sorry its taken a couple of days to do this Trixie X
This is a game so others can get to know you. These are the directions...Your supposed to write 7 things about yourself and then go and tag 7 more friends and they will do the same.
7 things about me....this is gonna be taxing on me olde noggin:0)
i) I sing, actually I sing a LOT! Everyday in fact I am singing a lil olde song. The humums havent got a clue what I\'m singing to but I do enjoy it;0)
ii) I am always on the lookout for hurricanes! We havent had a proper hurricane in years but if theres a blast of wind ~ zoom I\'m under the table. It just so happens we live at the top of a huge hill and its windy quite a lot. Hehehehe
iii) If I\'m on a extendable lead I\'ll walk by your side. But if I\'m on a standard lead I\'ll walk in front of you.
iv) I have in the past pee\'d on Flippys back while she\'s laying out in the sun! hehehehe
v) I am SCARED of police dogs! Mum was taking us out on a walk and one of our good neighbours had their son home with his police dog. Now normally I meet and greet every dog but ALL 5 of us wouldnt go near him! He was just so SCARY!!!!
vi) I try and play with the german shepherd that guards the Harlex centre near to where we live. He\'s a dopey dog and is such a push over for us (we have known him for about 4 years).
vii) I know when mum takes mints out on our walks! If she does I\'ll behave myself until we have all eaten the mints then we all try and nick cinders mint (she takes forever to eat hers!!!!).
OK, I gotta think of seven dogs....I\'ll be adding to this very shortly!

And what better way to get ready for the new year than having a proper scottish version of auld lang syne
Heres the lyrics to the song if you guys think you can sing it:-)
As our humum is part scot/ eng/ irish (with a bit of greek thrown into the mixture) she can sing the scots version like a true pro :-)
Heres KennethMckellar version of the great Burns poem.
Shid ald akwentans bee firgot,
an nivir brocht ti mynd?
Shid ald akwentans bee firgot,
an ald lang syn?
Fir ald lang syn, ma deer,
fir ald lang syn,
Wil tak a cup o kyndnes yet,
fir ald lang syn.
We twa hay pedilt in the burn,
fray mornin sun til dyn;
But seas between us bred hay roard
sin ald lang syn.
Fir ald lang syn, ma deer,
fir ald lang syn,
Wil tak a cup o kyndnes yet,
fir ald lang syn.
An thers a han, my trustee feer!
an gees a han o thyn!
And we’ll tak a right gude-willie-waught,
fir ald lang syn.
Fir ald lang syn, ma deer,
fir ald lang syn,
Wil tak a cup o kyndnes yet,
fir ald lang syn.
Fir ald lang syn, ma deer,
fir ald lang syn,
Wil tak a cup o kyndnes yet,
fir ald lang syn.

Or would that be new years pressies?
Well, the pawrents thought that we needed a few extra things and so went to pets at home to buy a couple of things.
Doggy darnit they didnt have a sale on (sniff!) but Winnie has now got a new extendable lead for the walks. Yeap, it goes upto 26 ft or 8 metres. And while they where in there they got us a extra pressies.
Sumptious red rolls of fish, cold fillet with kelp and bamboo furbuster cos us tzus have got a lot of fur at the moment we are kinda looking bulky and so our peeps thought this should hopefully help to keep our hair to a minimum.
Flippy who has got the most thickest coat out of the lot of us has said its OK. So our peeps our slowly working their way though us:-)

Fans of singer George Michael can enjoy a free festive gift by downloading his new single.
December Song (I Dreamed of Christmas) is available free to download throughout Christmas Day via the www.georgemichael.com website.
It is the first Christmas song to be released by the singer since the 1984 Wham hit Last Christmas.
The new release was originally promised by the singer on stage during the last night of his Final Two sell-out concerts at London's Earls Court in August, billed as his "last arena shows in the UK".
It was written and produced by the singer and co-written with his friend David Austin.
The singer has sold more than 100 million records worldwide.
Guess where mum is going after she writes this:0))))))))

'Twas the night before Christmas and Santa's a wreck...
How to live in a world that's politically correct?
His workers no longer would answer to "Elves"
"Vertically Challenged" they were calling themselves
And labour conditions at the north pole
Were alleged by the union to stifle the soul
Four reindeer had vanished, without much propriety
Released to the wilds by the Humane Society
And equal employment had made it quite clear
That Santa had better not use just reindeer
So Dancer and Donner, Comet and Cupid
Were replaced with 4 pigs, and you know that looked stupid!
The runners had been removed from his sleigh;
The ruts were termed dangerous by the E P A
And people had started to call for the cops
When they heard sled noises on their roof-tops
Second-hand smoke from his pipe had his workers quite frightened
His fur trimmed red suit was called "Unenlightened"
And to show you the strangeness of life's ebbs and flows
Rudolf was suing over unauthorised use of his nose
And had gone on Geraldo, in front of the nation
Demanding millions in over-due compensation
So, half of the reindeer were gone; and his wife
Who suddenly said she'd enough of this life
Joined a self-help group, packed, and left in a whiz
Demanding from now on her title was Ms
And as for the gifts, why, he'd never had a notion
That making a choice could cause so much commotion
Nothing of leather, nothing of fur
Which meant nothing for him. And nothing for her
Nothing that might be construed to pollute
Nothing to aim. Nothing to shoot
Nothing that clamoured or made lots of noise
Nothing for just girls. Or just for boys
Nothing that claimed to be gender specific
Nothing that's warlike or non-pacific
No candy or sweets ... they were bad for the tooth
Nothing that seemed to embellish the truth
And fairy tales, while not yet forbidden
Were like Ken and Barbie, better off hidden
For they raised the hackles of those psychological
Who claimed the only good gift was ecological
No baseball, no football ... someone could get hurt;
Besides; playing sports exposed kids to dirt
Dolls were said to be sexist, and should be passe;
And Nintendo would rot your entire brain away
So Santa just stood there, dishevelled, perplexed;
He just could not figure out what to do next
He tried to be merry, tried to be gay
But you've got to be careful with that word today
His sack was quite empty, limp to the ground;
Nothing fully acceptable was to be found
Something special was needed, a gift that he might
Give to all without angering the left or the right
A gift that would satisfy, with no indecision
Each group of people, every religion;
Every ethnicity, every hue
Everyone, everywhere ... even you
So here is that gift, it's price beyond worth ...
"May you and your loved ones enjoy peace on earth"

TWO St Bernard dogs died after being rescued by the RSPCA from filthy kennels where they had been abandoned with 96 others.
Sickened inspectors said all 98 helpless animals were discovered in locked cages littered with dogs’ mess and other filth.
There was no staff present but the dogs — which grow to a huge size — had been fed and watered.
Two were in such poor health that they later died at a nearby vets.
Twelve officers have been working around the clock to re-home the animals — including pups.
The St Bernards were found at the Wardana Kennels and Cattery in Brigstock, Northants, after RSPCA officers received a tip-off from a concerned member of the public.
All are thought to belong to kennels owner Mary-Ellen Collis — who has disappeared.
Her website says she is a qualified vet and offers customers “one of the finest animal boarding establishments”.
But RSPCA inspector Justin Stubbs said: “There was faeces everywhere and upturned bowls. Something has gone wrong.
Because they’re such big dogs you wouldn’t expect to see so many in such conditions. But it looks like we can do something with them.”
The dogs have now been taken to a kennel near Peterborough, Cambs, and another in Nottingham.
Wardana Kennels are in ten acres and were bought by Collis, 50, in March 2001.
She is a founder member of the Kennel Club’s Accredited Breeder Scheme and charges up to £13 a day.
Yesterday the Kennel Club expressed “'deep concern” over the alleged conditions. It said that at the time of an undated inspection, there was “nothing to give cause for concern”.
An RSPCA spokesman said: “We are in the process of removing 98 dogs and an investigation is ongoing.”
St Bernards were traditionally used as Alpine mountain rescue dogs.
They are known for their good-nature — but adult males weigh up to 17 stone.

The BBC's first broadcast appeal for children was a five-minute radio programme on Christmas Day in 1927. It raised £1,143 18s 3d and the proceeds were shared with four prominent children's charities.
The first televised appeal was the 1955 'Children's Hour Christmas Appeal', presented by Sooty and Harry Corbett. The Christmas Day Appeals continued on TV and radio right up until 1979, raising a total of £625,836. The presenters included Terry Hall, Eamonn Andrews, Leslie Crowther, Michael Aspel and the rising star of the Radio 2 Breakfast Show - Terry Wogan - who made his debut appearance in 1978.
In 1980 the appeal was broadcast on BBC One in a new telethon format, hosted by Terry with Sue Lawley and Esther Rantzen. The telethon was the brainchild of Mark Patterson, who went on to be the Executive Producer for nine years. It captured the public's imagination to such an extent that the donations increased dramatically and broke the million mark for the very first time.
Pudsey made his television debut in 1985 when Terry introduced the new, brown cuddly mascot to the audience. He was designed by Joanna Ball, a BBC graphics designer, who named him after the West Yorkshire town where she was born. He proved very popular and returned as Children in Need's official logo the following year with his design amended to that of a yellow bear with a red spotted bandage.
In the two decades which have followed, countless cuddly bears have been sold to raise money for the charity, while Pudsey himself has received letters, drawings and e-mails from youngsters all over the UK and been photographed with more celebrities than he can remember. Apart from a party hat worn in 2004 to celebrate the telethon's silver jubilee, Pudsey has remained very much the same. But a 2007 revamp has given Pudsey a fresh new look and brighter colours in time for the 28th annual BBC Children in Need Appeal.
BBC Children in Need became a registered charity in England and Wales number 802052 in 1989 and a registered charity in Scotland number SC039557 in 2008. The annual telethon continues to be a highlight of the charity's year long campaign, when the whole BBC joins together to support BBC Children in Need on TV, radio and online. The live show features some of the fundraising activities taking place around the UK as well as unexpected performances from familiar faces. Terry Wogan remains the telethon's mainstay who has been joined by a diverse line-up over the years that includes Joanna Lumley, Sue Cook, John Craven, Andi Peters, Gaby Roslin, Natasha Kaplinsky and Fearne Cotton.

As Roman Catholic pups we thought we'd share with you a day that we celebrate.
St Martin of Tours is a saint who is remembered for as being a soldier but turned to the catholic faith. He encountered a begger while a soldier and teared his coat in half and share it with the beggar to save him from freezing to death during a particularly bad snow spell.
That night he had a dream (vision?) that Jesus come to him dressed as that beggar and he went on to become a saint.
His day falls on the 11th November (coincidental ~ I think not!:-)) and his statue is used in remembrance day celebrations. Incidently this is the 90th year of the (start of) the end of World War 1.
To all our veterans and soldiers etc in the commonwealth and further afield we thank you for giving your lives so we can live ours.

In 1605, thirteen young men planned to blow up
the Houses of Parliament. Among them was
Guy Fawkes, Britain's most notorious traitor.
After Queen Elizabeth I died in 1603, English Catholics who had been persecuted under her rule had hoped that her successor, James I, would be more tolerant of their religion. James I had, after all, had a Catholic mother. Unfortunately, James did not turn out to be more tolerant than Elizabeth and a number of young men, 13 to be exact, decided that violent action was the answer.
A small group took shape, under the leadership of Robert Catesby. Catesby felt that violent action was warranted. Indeed, the thing to do was to blow up the Houses of Parliament. In doing so, they would kill the King, maybe even the Prince of Wales, and the Members of Parliament who were making life difficult for the Catholics. Today these conspirators would be known as extremists, or terrorists.
To carry out their plan, the conspirators got hold of 36 barrels of gunpowder - and stored them in a cellar, just under the House of Lords.
But as the group worked on the plot, it became clear that innocent people would be hurt or killed in the attack, including some people who even fought for more rights for Catholics. Some of the plotters started having second thoughts. One of the group members even sent an anonymous letter warning his friend, Lord Monteagle, to stay away from the Parliament on November 5th. Was the letter real?
The warning letter reached the King, and the King's forces made plans to stop the conspirators.
Guy Fawkes, who was in the cellar of the parliament with the 36 barrels of gunpowder when the authorities stormed it in the early hours of November 5th, was caught, tortured and executed.
It's unclear if the conspirators would ever have been able to pull off their plan to blow up the Parliament even if they had not been betrayed. Some have suggested that the gunpowder itself was so old as to be useless. Since Guy Fawkes and the other conspirators got caught before trying to ignite the powder, we'll never know for certain.
Even for the period which was notoriously unstable, the Gunpowder Plot struck a very profound chord for the people of England. In fact, even today, the reigning monarch only enters the Parliament once a year, on what is called "the State Opening of Parliament". Prior to the Opening, and according to custom, the Yeomen of the Guard search the cellars of the Palace of Westminster. Nowadays, the Queen and Parliament still observe this tradition.
On the very night that the Gunpowder Plot was foiled, on November 5th, 1605, bonfires were set alight to celebrate the safety of the King. Since then, November 5th has become known as Bonfire Night. The event is commemorated every year with fireworks and burning effigies of Guy Fawkes on a bonfire.
Some of the English have been known to wonder, in a tongue in cheek kind of way, whether they are celebrating Fawkes' execution or honouring his attempt to do away with the government.
Quinn Thought...hehehehe OKAY we are catholics so take a guess onwhy we celebrate Bonfire night:)

The tables turned for finalists of the talent show X Factor yesterday when their charity single knocked judge Sheryl Cole’s group Girls Aloud off the top of the charts.
The cover of Mariah Carey’s song Hero, performed by the 12 acts from this year’s live shows, has stormed to number one and become the fastest selling charity single of the decade.
Hero sold 313,244 copies in its first week, outselling the rest of the Top 10 combined. It also became the fastest-selling single of the year.
All proceeds from the record will go to Help The Heroes – a charity that supports wounded servicemen and women - and the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
However, not all of those who contributed to Hero were celebrating yesterday. Austin Drage, 22, became the latest contestant to be voted off the show on Saturday night for his performance of Rolls Royce’s hit Wishing on a Star.
Viewers watching Saturday night’s show also learnt that X Factor host Holly Willoughby is pregnant with her first child. She announced the news live on air.
Meanwhile judge Simon Cowell also made the news this weekend, as speculation continued that his relationship with long-term girlfriend Terri Seymour come to an end.
Responding the the news of Hero's success, Cowell said yesterday: “It’s a really important cause, we are all honoured to be a part of it and most importantly, this is going to raise money for a group of people who really need help and support."
The single also earned the support of chancellor Alistair Darling, who will waive VAT on sales, and a public thumbs up from prime minister Gordon Brown at a press conference last week. HMV, Woolworths and Tesco are also donating profits on sales of the single to Help The Heroes and the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
The 12 acts performing on Hero are Austin Drage, Eoghan Quigg and Scott Bruton (in the 14 – 24 boys group); Laura White, Diana Vickers and Alexandra Burke (in the 14 – 24 girls group); Daniel Evans, Rachel Hylton, Ruth Lorenzo (over 25s) and groups Bad Lashes, Girlband and JLS.

A dog welfare charity is calling on GPs to prescribe the benefits of dog ownership to their patients.
The Dogs Trust says it can prove that dogs are good for their owners' health.
The charity compiled independent academic research from around the world to highlight nine areas in owning or which interacting with a dog can improve people's wellbeing.
The trust launched the Canine Charter for Human Health to detail the benefits for doctors.
Trust chief executive, Clarissa Baldwin, said: "Dogs Trust has always promoted the benefits of owning a dog, but it is clear to see that there is also strong academic support to show that there are serious health benefits as well.
"Many dog owners are already aware of many of the benefits their dogs bring, but we want to take the message out further to the wider population."
The charity will be distributing copies of the charter to GPs, counsellors and therapists for them to explain or display to the public.
Channel 4's Dr Christian Jessen said: "I would ask that all GPs be aware of the importance of animals in promoting human health and happiness and call on them to proactively inform their patients of the diverse ways in which dogs can improve our lives."
In a supporting survey of 1,000 UK individuals, 80% of dog owners and 61% of non-dog owners agreed a daily dose of dog can help reduce stress or blood pressure.
About 95% of dog owners and 88% of non-dog owners believe that owning a dog increases the amount of exercise that you do.
The Dogs Trust will be delivering a copy of the charter Health Secretary Alan Johnson and asking for his support in the promotion of the health benefits of owning a dog.

Four Tops frontman Levi Stubbs, whose dynamic and emotive voice drove such Motown hits as Reach Out (I'll Be There) and Baby I Need Your Loving, died Friday at 72.
He had been ill recently and died in his sleep at the Detroit house he shared with his wife, said Dana Meah, a family member. The Wayne County medical examiner's office also confirmed the death.
With Stubbs in the lead, the Four Tops sold millions of records and performed for more than four decades without a change in personnel.
Stubbs' death leaves one surviving member of the original group: Abdul "Duke" Fakir.
"Levi Stubbs was one of the great voices of all times," former Motown labelmate Smokey Robinson said in a statement. "He was very near and dear to my heart. He was my friend and my brother, I miss him. God bless his family and comfort them."
The Four Tops began singing together in 1953 under the group name the Four Aims and signed a deal with Chess Records. They later changed their names to the Four Tops to avoid being confused with the Ames Brothers.
They also recorded for Red Top, Riverside and Columbia Records and toured supper clubs.
The Four Tops signed with Motown Records in 1963 and produced 20 Top-40 hits over the next 10 years, making music history with the other acts in Berry Gordy's Motown stable.
Their biggest hits were recorded between 1964 and 1967 with the in-house songwriting and production team of Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier and Eddie Holland. Both 1965's I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch) and 1966's Reach Out went to No 1 on the Billboard pop chart.
Other hits included Shake Me, Wake Me (1966); Bernadette and Standing in the Shadows of Love (both 1967).
The acclaimed documentary film Standing in the Shadows of Motown, which took its name from the Four Tops song, was released in 2002 and focused on the Funk Brothers, the talented but unheralded musicians who played backup on many Motown recordings.
While Stubbs didn't play a direct role in the film's production, director Paul Justman spoke Friday of the singer's immense talent.
"He was a tremendous artist," Justman said.
Stubbs "fits right up there with all the icons of Motown," said Audley Smith, chief operating officer of the Motown Historical Museum. "His voice was as unique as Marvin's or as Smokey's or as Stevie's."
The Four Tops toured for decades after their heyday and reached the charts as late as 1988 with Indestructible on Arista Records.
In 1986, Stubbs provided the voice for Audrey II the man-eating plant in the film Little Shop of Horrors.
The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Another original Four Top, Lawrence Payton, died of liver cancer in 1997. Renaldo "Obie" Benson died of lung cancer in 2005.
Stubbs hadn't done much performing in recent years due to his declining health, but was known to step up on stage from time to time when a Motown touring production came through Detroit.
He was born in 1936 and attended the city's Pershing High School, where he sang with Fakir. They met fellow Detroiters Payton and Benson while singing at a mutual friend's birthday party, then decided to form a group.
"These are four of the greatest people I have ever known. They were major pros even before they came to Motown," Gordy said when the Four Tops' star was unveiled in Hollywood.
Stubbs is survived by his wife, five children and 11 grandchildren.

Well we couldnt let this weekend pass without acknowledging our Canadian friends across the water and saying YAPPY THANKSGIVING!
It has got our interest though on how it come about (the bookworms in us tzus just have to find out why something is called something) and we looked around for a good explaination on the Canada Thanksgiving...
Heres a copy and paste we found onthe web that details that first COLD...but great occasion!
http://www.canadafirst.net/our_heritage/thanksg iving/
Most of us will have noticed that Canadian Thanksgiving comes well in advance of our neighbours to the south, and for all the predictable reasons: colder climate, earlier harvest, and that persistant urge to accomplish something (anything) before "they" do. But the history of our Thanksgiving is stuffed with surprises.
We did actually have the FIRST Thanksgiving, a full 43 years before the pilgims at Plymouth Rock, but, in true Canadian fashion, there was something wrong with it. That first North American Thanksgiving would have been "celebrated" in sub-zero temperatures on a barren, windswept moonscape by a muttering, mutinous crowd wondering whether "the chief" had all his marbles.
In 1576, Sir Martin Frobisher set out to find the Spice Islands. He landed instead on Baffin Island. The complete absence of trees and a pitiless terrain of unrelieved rock and permafrost barely dampened his determination to establish the first English settlement in North America. Not yet disabused of his perennial optimism, he spent two years mining "gold ore". When it was well and duly hauled back to England, it assayed out as iron pyrite. Fool's Gold.
By 1710 we were back on track with this Thanksgiving thing. Records at Port Royal, Nova Scotia, note an October 10 thanksgiving celebration to mark the return of the town to the English. In 1763, Halifax celebrated the end of the Seven Years War with a similar ceremony.
In 1879, Parliament formally declared November 6 as a day of Thanksgiving, and so it remained until after the Armistice of WWI, when Thanksgiving and Remembrance Day would have conflicted thematically during the same week.
When Thanksgiving was assigned to its present second Monday in October, former Ontario Premier E.C. Drury, head of the United Farmers of Ontario, decried the move as a ploy by city-dwellers to move a farmer's holiday "up" the calendar so they could enjoy a long weekend while the weather was likely to still be fine (at the farmer's expense). Canadian - eh?
A lil bit of history for us and a HUGE......................
YAPPY THANKGIVING CANADA! From all of us:)

To dress up or not?
That is the question!
We was searching for a article we read in the newspaper and found this interesting lil article from a paper narf of the border (Tis SCOTLAND) to you and I.
One man perspective is interesting and COMPLETELY different to what we actually think. Heres the article...
Let's dump this fashion for dressing up dogs
Sep 27 2008 John Mckie
DOGS and fashion. They go together like Eskimos and Hawaiian shirts, like jelly and staplers, like Bruce Willis and Harmony hairspray.
In other words, not at all. There's a reason it's called a catwalk. Dogs don't belong there.
Thursday's news that Scotland is to host its dog fashion show, to put pooches in Pucci, should have any rational person running in horror to Dogline or whatever the animal equivalent is.
Leave aside the fact that some children around the world will go to bed tonight without enough clothes, the idea that people are paying for a pink hoodie for their poodle or a bandana for their bull mastiff is, well, barking.
One of the organisers said: "We don't put the dogs in anything they don't want to wear."
How do they know? The poor mutt's probably trying to find a lamp-post to register his thoughts.
No wonder Britain's biggest dog charity and the RSPCA last week pulled support for Crufts after spotting what they reckoned was dodgy genetic in-breeding. And as for the pets...
In defence of the four-legged models, this lot may actually have a square meal once in a while.
The only thing these models will sniff is each other's backsides. And to flip the argument, Naomi Campbell in quarantine is a tempting proposal.
Whatever you think of dog models, the sickoes who put a poodle in a holdall for a fashion show are not right in the head. Dogs are to be taken for walks - not hand luggage.
It's about as cruel as relocating Crufts to Korea with the ticket price including an all-you-caneat buffet.
Robin Williams once declared that cocaine is God's way of telling you that you are too rich.
God's way of telling you that you have too much cash in 2008 is when your pet has a wardrobe full of clothes.
Owners picking dogs who look like their owners is twisted enough. Dogs who dress like their owners is a whole new world of weird.
The trend of dogs being saddled with useless fashion accessories cannot be encouraged. For instance, the other day, there was a picture in the paper of a chihuahua which had been attached to Paris Hilton.
That's completely unnecessary.
Remember: A dog is for life. Not for London Fashion Week.
'Paying for a pink hoodie for their poodle is, well, barking'

Quinn Charming Tail of thought:
Well one mans rubbish is another mans fortune. And just because someone has a different view we thought we'd put it in our lil olde diary. Personally speaking I for one am FOR dressing up. If I'm happy to dress up and am not being HURT/ ABUSED OR ANYTHING ELSE THAT CAN UPSET ME I will carry on putting on my designer (and homemade) clobber and enjoy my privilege woof style!
Also....when its freezing outside a lil jumper or coat keeps me snug and warm...and no way am I gonna give that up heheheheh:)

We honour the country’s heroes and heroines at glittering event
By Ros Wynne-Jones 30/09/2008
If this Britain is broken, someone forgot to tell the glittering gathering of heroes, stars and celebrities last night.
They forgot to tell Bernard Butler, the lorry driver who ignored his own heart condition to rush into the path of a 50ft chemical fireball to save a man’s life after a motorway crash.
They forgot to tell eight-year-old Tilly Griffiths, who feels “free as a butterfly” despite suffering from a severe muscle-wasting illness that limits everything she does each day. And they forgot to tell hero hoodie Carl Duval, 17, who risked his life to save a stranger who collapsed on to a live rail line in the path of a 100mph express train.
At the 10th annual Pride of Britain awards, there was only story after uplifting story of courage, selflessness and hope.
David Beckham told Carl, surprising him at a local restaurant: “It’s an amazing thing you’ve done.”
Child of Courage wheelchair user Tilly told host Carol Vorderman: “I like sailing, to be out of my chair and free with the wind.”
Bernard received his award from Dame Shirley Bassey and said: “You save your fellow trucker. It’s something inbuilt in you.” She said: “This man has done something incredible, with incredible energy.”
It is a decade now since these astonishing awards began, and they remain undiminished.
This year, led by our Beijing medal heroes, every winner was Olympian in bravery and strength.
What greater embodiment of the spirit of the NHS on its 60th birthday than the doctors who refused to leave their patients as fire swept through London’s Royal Marsden Hospital earlier this year?
Who could sum up the courage of our armed forces better than 24-year-old Lance Cpl Matthew Croucher, who threw himself on to a grenade to save his colleagues?
There are those people who want us to believe that today’s Britain is ruined, downtrodden, thuggish and selfish. A country made ugly by violence, drunkenness and greed.
Before you believe them, you should watch Pride of Britain.
Not just for its towering figure – but for the everyday heroes – the crime-fighting postman and the teenage cancer victim who wanted to swim a mile for his dead friend.
Watch winner after winner, and ask yourself, is Britain really broken?
There is a reason that Pride of Britain gets more viewers than the Brits or the Baftas and attracts A-list celebrities other award shows can only dream of.
What other show would reunite the IVF pioneer Sir Robert Edwards with the first test tube baby, one life of three million he made possible? What other show could persuade Ant and Dec to fly to the Afghan war zone to honour brave medics?
Last night, to hear Manchester United goalie Harry Gregg tell of his greatest save – clambering through the burning plane of the Munich air disaster to rescue his fellow players – was to feel half a century roll away.
Last night, there was a recognition of everything that had gone before, but no need to dwell upon past glories in an award show as fresh and inspiring as ever.
Gordon Brown saluted the lifeboat heroes who saved eight sailors from a crippled vessel in a force nine gale. He said: “In these tougher times, it’s right to remember the people who make our country great.
“There are no greater heroes than the men and women who staff our emergency services. They put their lives on the line every single day.”
There was a special award for Daily Mirror executive editor Peter Willis who founded the awards. The PM said: “In Britain they say it takes 500 years to create a national institution. He’s done it in 10 years.”
Sir Richard Branson stunned cancer suffering fundraiser Liam Fairhurst, 13, by offering him a trip to his private Caribbean island. He said: “It’s the very least I can do for this amazing young man.”
Quinn Charming thought: Tis amazing in this climate of gun / knife violence etc that something else shines through...Pride for your fellow country peeps:) Do something AMAZING today dogster XoXOXO

Hello dogsterians!
I thought that as I'm on the pc going thru all the dogster pages that are on here I thought I would put my peeps *song* on here as its stings 57th birthday on the 2nd October.
History...of how my peeps got together...
Picture this England...Gravesend...6th February 1996.
Mum and dad was at the same workplace and this was her first day. After being friends for a few weeks ie Dad taking mum home, mum making coffee for him at work they went on to become good friends.
On 1 November 1996 they done the...I think I like you...thingie...and then it gets sickly sweet!
Yeap...dogsters I cant believe in just over a month my peeps have been together 12 years (married 10) and will I be getting a pressie? O I THINK so!
I've been choosing my toys very very carefully hehehehehe.
But I thought I would put the lyrics up on here for you to enjoy my peeps song....
BTW whats your peeps song?
I was brought to my senses
Alone with my thoughts this evening
I walked on the banks of Tyne
I wondered how I could win you
Or if I could make you mine
Or if I could make you mine
The wind it was so insistent
With tales of a stormy south
But when I spied two birds in a sycamore tree
There came a dryness in my mouth
Came a dryness in my mouth
For then without rhyme or reason
The two birds did rise up to fly
And where the two birds were flying
I swear I saw you and I
I swear I saw you and I
I walked out this morning
It was like a veil had been removed from
Before my eyes
For the first time I saw the work of heaven
In the line where the hill had been
Married to the sky
And all around me every blade of singing grass
Was calling out your name and that
Our love would always last
And inside every turning leaf
Is the pattern of an older tree
The shape of our future
The shape of all our history
And out of the confusion
Where the river meets the sea
Came things I'd never seen
Things I'd never seen
I was brought to my senses
I was blind but now that I can see
Every signpost in nature
Said you belong to me
I know it's true
It's written in a sky as blue
As blue as your eyes, as blue as your eyes
If nature's red in tooth and claw
Like winter's freeze and summer's thaw
The wounds she gave me
Were the wounds that would heal me
And we'd be like the moon and sun
And when our courtly dance had run
Its course across the sky
Then together we would lie
And out of the confusion
Where the river meets the sea
Something new would arrive
Something better would arrive
I was brought to my senses
I was blind but now that I can see
Every signpost in nature
Said you belong to me

Well, as you've probably noticed us tzus have had a lot of sporadic appearances on here and the main reason why is that the peeps have been renovating the front, and back garden. The front is all but done so we'll put some piccies of us in it on our pages soon. And also try and get the peeps to take a few piccies of us on the double garage concrete (paws cross that we get the go ahead).
But mum was out the front yesterday cutting the lawn and we was doing the usual patrol of the perimeter and we couldnt find nothing...zero to bark at sniff*!
We're not lawn mowers chasers (I barked at it once mum told me off and I havent done it since).
We even patroled the side garden looking for a lil friend themouse that was living under our shed ~ we got a piccie of him that dad took when he was moving the lil guys home.
But today and for the last few days we have been basking in the unusual weather of warmth...sunshine.....60's degree september....global warming anyone?

Thank you dogsters for the feedback on our sept 11 stepback in history diary entries. Well we thought that every so often if we find something that might be of interest to post it in one of our diaries and also it makes sure us furbabies get on the pc more often:)
Heres our entry for today....
Luna 2 (E-1A series) was the second of the Soviet Union's Luna program spacecraft launched in the direction of the Moon. It was the first spacecraft to reach the surface of the Moon, and it impacted the lunar surface west of Mare Serenitatis near the craters Aristides, Archimedes, and Autolycus.[1] Luna 2 was similar in design to Luna 1, a spherical spacecraft with protruding antennae and instrument parts. The instrumentation was also similar, including scintillation counters, geiger counters, a magnetometer, Cherenkov detectors, and micrometeorite detectors. There were no propulsion systems on Luna 2 itself.
Scientifically, Luna 2 is most famous for confirming the earlier detection of the solar wind by Luna 1, via its hemispherical ion traps designed by Konstantin Gringauz. Luna 1 had provided the first evidence of this phenomenon; on Luna 2, Gringauz changed the four sensors to a tetrahedral arrangement, instead of planar, to get better measurements of the plasma flux.
After launching on September 12, 1959, Luna 2 separated from its third stage, which travelled along with it towards the Moon. On September 13 the spacecraft released a bright orange cloud of sodium gas, which aided in spacecraft tracking and acted as an experiment on the behavior of gas in space. On September 14, after 33.5 hours of flight, radio signals from Luna 2 abruptly ceased, indicating it had impacted on the Moon. The impact point, in the Palus Putredinis region, is roughly estimated to have occurred at 0 degrees longitude, 29.1 degrees N latitude. Some 30 minutes after Luna 2, the third stage of its rocket also impacted the Moon. The mission confirmed that the Moon had no appreciable magnetic field, and found no evidence of the Moon having radiation belts.
Luna 2 showed time variations in the electron flux and energy spectrum within the outer belt.
Luna 2 was instrumented with a three component fluxgate magnetometer, similar to that used on Luna 1, but with the dynamic range reduced by a factor of 4 to -750 to +750 nanoteslas (gammas) so that the quantization uncertainty was -12 to +12 nT. The spacecraft spin period was 840 seconds about the major axis, and there was a precession with a period of 86 seconds. The sampling rate of the instrument was approximately once per minute. According to the Principal Investigator, the errors associated with the experiment zero levels and spacecraft fields were such that the accuracy was approximately 50 to 100 nT. The spacecraft gave results similar to those of Luna 1 in the Earth's radiation belts and, upon impact, placed an upper limit of 100 nT on the lunar magnetic field at the surface.

All of us Tzus thought we would say about one event in the past that has happened on September 11
Heres mine....
Terrorist Attacks USA
The World Trade Center in New York City, United States (sometimes informally referred to as the WTC or the Twin Towers) was a complex of seven buildings in Lower Manhattan, mostly designed by Detroit-based architect Minoru Yamasaki and engineer Leslie Robertson and developed by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. It was initiated in 1960 by a Lower Manhattan Association created and chaired by David Rockefeller, who had the original idea of building the center, with strong backing from the then-New York governor, his brother Nelson Rockefeller. The World Trade Center, New York, like most World Trade Centers located around the globe, belonged to the family of World Trade Centers Association. Prior to its destruction, Larry Silverstein held the most recent lease to the complex, the Port Authority having leased it to him in July 2001. The complex, located in the heart of New York City's downtown financial district, contained 13.4 million square feet (1.24 million m²) of office space, almost four percent of Manhattan's entire office inventory at that time.
Best known for its iconic 110-story twin towers (101 usable floors, eight engineering-only "service" floors on top of a lobby which was six stories high and 80') the World Trade Center was beset by a fire on February 13, 1975 and a bombing on February 26, 1993.
All seven original buildings in the complex were destroyed during the September 11, 2001 attacks. Three of the buildings collapsed: One World Trade Center (1 WTC, the North Tower), Two World Trade Center (2 WTC, the South Tower), and 7 World Trade Center (7 WTC). The Marriott World Trade Center (3 WTC) was crushed by the collapses of 1 WTC and 2 WTC. 4 World Trade Center (4 WTC), 5 World Trade Center (5 WTC), and 6 World Trade Center (6 WTC) were damaged beyond repair and later demolished. Three buildings not part of the complex were also destroyed: St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church was destroyed by the collapse of 2 WTC. The Deutsche Bank Building was damaged beyond repair by the explosions and collapse of 1 and 2 WTC; and Borough of Manhattan Community College's Fiterman Hall was damaged beyond repair by the collapse of 7 WTC; these are currently being deconstructed.
Mums cousin was in one of the twin towers a day before the event. Sarah had got married the previous week and was on honeymoon and her and her husband (he worked in the towers) gone in there as she wanted to have a look around.
Mum was working nights as a supervisor for Asda and had come home about 7am (GMT ) and gone to bed and had woken up about 1pm put the TV on and drinking a cup of coffee was trying to register what was going on over in the states. She phoned up her Aunt to find out about Sarah and no one knew if she had gone in there that morning or the previous day. She finally contacted all of us and did what she could over there.
Whats your story of september 11?

History of the Games
The World Firefighters Games was initiated by an American entrepreneur and a committee of international firefighters, whose coming together led to the 1st World Firefighters Games in Aukland NewZealand in 1990. This inaugral event was hailed as a great success placing the WFG firmly on the international map, attracting thousands of athletes and their families from all over the world.
The second WFG were held in Las Vegas in 1992 and thus the stage was set to host this event on a biennial basis. 1994 saw the ownership of the event passing to a committee of firefighters in Perth, Western Australia who hosted yet another fantastic WFG in this same year. The W. Australia WFG Governing Body have continued to drive forward this event which has seen the mantle of the games being hosted at the following international venues:
1996 – Edmonton, Canada
1998 – Durban, South Africa
2000 – Mantes, France
2002 – Christchurch, New Zealand
2004 – Sheffield, England
2006 – Hong Kong, China
The Liverpool World Firefighters Games 2008 will be staged from 25th August- 3rd September 2008. Liverpool is also set to be the European Capital of Culture in 2008, with WFG08 playing a major role in the Capital of Culture calendar. This will give WFG unprecedented access to brand new state of the art international sporting venues such as the Liverpool Echo Arena. The Games will feature 60 sporting events over a period of 10 days attracting in excess of 5000 competitors from all over the world. The Games include a variety of sports and whilst the emphasis is on participation, competition is fierce and the last time the Games were held in the UK (Sheffield) two British national records were broken.
The Games lasts for a period of seven to ten days and are self-financing with any surplus being reinvested in local charities.

DOG PRAYERS
DOG LETTERS TO GOD
author unknown
Dear God,
How come people love to smell flowers, but seldom, if ever, smell one another? Where are their priorities?
Dear God,
When we get to Heaven, can we sit on your couch? Or is it the same old story?
Dear God,
Excuse me, but why are there cars named after the jaguar, the cougar, the mustang, the colt, the stingray, and the rabbit, but not one named for a dog? How often do you see a cougar riding around? We dogs love a nice ride! I know every breed cannot have its own model, but it would be easy to rename the Chrysler Eagle the Chrysler Beagle!
Dear God,
If a dog barks his head off in the forest and no human hears him, is he still a bad dog?
Dear God,
When my foster mom's friend comes over to our house, he smells like musk! What's he been rolling around in?
Dear God,
Is it true that in Heaven, dining room tables have on-ramps?
Dear God,
If we come back as humans, is that good or bad?
Dear God,
More meatballs, less spaghetti, please.
Dear God,
When we get to the Pearly Gates, do we have to shake hands to get in?
Dear God,
We dogs can understand human verbal instructions, hand signals, whistles, horns, clickers, beepers, scent IDs, electromagnetic energy fields, and Frisbee flight paths. What do humans understand?
Dear God,
Are there dogs on other planets, or are we alone? I have been howling at the moon and stars for a long time, but all I ever hear back is the Dobie across the street.
Dear God,
Are there mailmen in Heaven? If there are, will I have to apologise? :-)
Dear God,
Is it true that dogs are not allowed in restaurants because we can't make up our minds what NOT to order? Or is it the carpets again?
Dear God,
When my family eats dinner they always bless their food. But they never bless mine. So, I've been wagging my tail extra fast when they fill
my bowl. Have you noticed my own blessing?
Dear God,
I've always lived at the shelter and I have everything I need. But many of the cats here have names and I don't. Could you give me a name
please? It would be good for my self-esteem.
Dear God,
Being a German Shepherd is kind of scary! People think I am mean and all I want to do is lick their face???
Dear God,
The new terrier I live with just peed on the Oriental rug and I have a feeling my family might blame me 'cuz they think I'm jealous of this stupid dog. Since they have no sense of smell, how can I convince them I'm innocent? Does PetsMart sell lie detectors?

YELLOW URKA-GURKA
Dog runs around the house and hides under furniture while making a prolonged ‘uuuuurka-guuuuurka, uuurka-guurka’ noise. (This noise is the only thing guaranteed to wake up a true dog lover who is hung over from a post dog-show celebration at 3:30 a.m.) After mad scrambling to capture the dog and drag him outside, the episode ends with an inaudible ten yard slimy yellow froth from the living room rug to the back door.
This was winnie yesterday!!
BLAP DISEASE
Dog exercises hard and (a) eats large mouthfuls of snow (winter Blap Disease) or (b) drinks a bucket of water (Summer Blap Disease). Within two minutes of returning inside, the dog spews out large amounts of clear slimy liquid while making a distinctive ‘blap’ sound and a sharp percussive noise as it hits the linoleum.
GARKS
Dog suddenly clears his throat with loud and dramatic ‘gggaark, gggark’ noises generally followed by prolonged ‘iiiksss’ and then loud satisfied smacking noises. There is nothing on the rug. Don’t investigate, you don’t want to know.
RALFS
Apropos of nothing, the dog strolls into the dining room and waits till the innocent dinner guests are all watching him. Then, with a single deep gut wrenching ‘raaaalff’ dislodges the entire weeks’ contents of his stomach on the dining room rug.
Variation: Then he eats it.
In all the above events the dog is entirely healthy and indeed deeply pleased with himself.
Hehehehe one of our dogs do this at least once a month

All of us tzus are hardly getting any sleep at night at the mo.
We have become avid viewers of the olympics and we can hardly contain our excitement at all of the records that are being broken.
Our paws have been swimming with Michael Phelps (USA) on his fourth gold medal this olympics.
Also we have been in awe at our own Rebecca Addlington and how well she has been doing. Flippy has said through she probably could swim faster than her (hehehehe).
Russia's Synchronised 3m Springboard was awesome (shame they didnt win).
But our love has been the equestrian . Its been held in HK (not far from where mums sis is) and mum has given us her love of horses. We have been on her lap while this has been going on and sometimes it has been very scary esp since she has been dancing around the house while the brits are getting a few medals...we have been dancing with her:-)
Who has got your interest in this years olympics?

Our mum is a avid reader, ever since she was a lil pup she has gained knowledge from the plethora of books readily available. She excelled at english literature at college and has always wanted to write a novel or book but alas due to commitments of us and work she has never had the time. But what she has done is when we're sitting on her lap she has shown us website, after website of great novelists and we have upto a point joined in her in her jubilation of finding both old and new writers.
Well, it has been announce that George Orwell's diary will be released day by day on his website.
Starting from the 9th August 2008.
Now most of you probably know who George Orwell is but just in case you don't we thought we'd tell you a bit about him.
GEORGE ORWELL, the pen-name of Eric Arthur Blair, was born on 25 June 1903 in Motihari, Bengal, where his father, Richard Walmesley Blair, was working as an Opium Agent in the Indian Civil Service, into what – with the uncanny precision he brought to all social judgments – he described as ‘the lower-upper-middle classes’. In fact the Blairs were remote descendants of the Fane Earls of Westmoreland. Like many a child of the Raj, Orwell was swiftly returned to England and brought up almost exclusively by his mother. The Thames Valley locales in which the family settled provided the background to his novel Coming Up For Air (1939).
Happily for the family finances – never flourishing – Orwell was a studious child. From St Cyprian’s preparatory school in Eastbourne, a legendary establishment that also educated Cyril Connolly and Cecil Beaton, he won a King’s Scholarship to Eton College, arriving at the school in May 1917. Orwell left a caustic memoir of his time at St Cyprian’s (‘Such, Such Were The Joys’) but also remarked that ‘No one can look back on his schooldays and say with truth that they were altogether unhappy.’ At Eton he frankly slacked, leaving the school in December 1921 after only a term in the sixth form. The following June he passed the entrance examination of the Indian Imperial Police and was accepted into its Burma division.

Tomorrow is friendship day and we have taken this opportunity to send all our pup pals a lil rosette.
Spread the paws of friendship across the world pupsters!
When : the first Sunday of August
Friendship Day is a day to nurture relationships, new and old. It's a really easy and fun day to celebrate.
Start the day by getting in touch with some old friends. Start early. Chances are, they know it's Friendship Day. You want to beat them to the punch, and contact them first. Phone calls, emails, Ecards, are great tools. See if you can make plans for lunch today, or some other day (soon).
Then, catch up to some of your current pals and buddies. Make sure to do some interesting things with them before the day is through. As you go through the day, be ever vigilant to spot an opportunity to make a new friend. Finding new friends today, is a real feather in your cap.
One thing is for certain...... if you put your all into the spirit of Friendship Day, you will have a great, great day.
Happy Friendship Day to people all over the world!

The Jewsbury tzus are celebrating national kissing day and hoping to spread some snogs your way! As all of us are footloose and fancy free (none of us are courting anyone) we thought we would spread this tradition to EVERYONE!
So if your one of the lucky ones to recieve our snogs (we're only allowed to give out five each) we would love it if you could spread the snogs to other dogsters....LETS HAVE A SNOG FEST!!!!
Happy kissing day everyone and remember to give your mum, dad and siblings a whole load of snogs!!!
To celebrate the 13th annual National Kissing Day, its founder Denplan commissioned the survey to ask people to name their top three favourite screen kisses. Second most popular rated kiss was the Disney classic Lady and the Tramp, where pampered pedigree pooch Lady shares a surprise spaghetti kiss with loveable rogue Tramp (36%). In third place was Swayze again, this time with Jennifer Grey in the 1987 blockbuster Dirty Dancing as they kiss in public for the first time (35%).
Swayze's still got it
Swayze was the clear favourite with the females surveyed, who voted Ghost (50%) and Dirty Dancing (43%) as their top two. The star of both blockbusters, who turns 56 this year, clearly remains a heartthrob for many.
Surprisingly more in touch with their feelings than previously given credit for, men voted for Ghost first (40%), Lady and the Tramp romped in second with 36% and one of the greatest romantic tragedies of recent time, Titanic, received 33% coming in third.
Oldie but not a goodie
Unexpectedly, classic films Gone with the Wind, From Here to Eternity and Breakfast at Tiffany's all ranked low in the voting at sixth, seventh and tenth places respectively.
However, these still remain the favourites of the over 65's, whose top three screen smooches were Lady and the Tramp (40%), Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler's tempestuous kiss in Gone with the Wind (36%), and Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr's classic beach clinch in From Here to Eternity (36%).
Creator of the first National Kissing Day back in 1995 and Denplan Managing Director, Stephen Gates, said: "We created National Kissing Day as a fun way to raise the profile of dentistry among consumers so that it had a connection with everyday life and not just six-month check-ups. While oral healthcare is a serious matter impacting general health, being sombre about it doesn't necessarily always get the message across. National Kissing Day is a great opportunity for people to kiss their loved ones and remember the importance of oral healthcare; we hope everyone will be doing that today."

Us Tzus are putting forward our support for the kinsella badge of hope.
Together we stand united against the knife crime that is happening on our streets.
If you go to the page at the bottom of this entry you can get a wallpaper copy.
Or if you would like the exact same piccie of ours we have uploaded it to our imikimi page. If you look for the user 5tzus you should come across the badge or you can search for it using the terms kinsella badge under UK politics.
TELLY’S grieving Brooke Kinsella last night begged Britain to unite against knife crime behind the symbol of hope above — a stylised ‘K’ designed by her murdered brother.
The ex-EastEnders star told The Sun in a poignant interview: “When I think of Ben, I think of this.”
We are proud to throw our weight behind her crusade — and urge readers to send off for badges we have had made bearing the logo.
Brooke, 24, told us: “I hope everybody could wear it to remember Ben and show support for the fight against street crime. This means more than anything.”
Schoolboy Ben, 16, became the 17th youngster stabbed to death in London this year when a knife gang chased him in Islington on Sunday.
He had just finished GCSEs and planned to study graphic design at college.
The ‘K’ for Kinsella — part of a larger design he had toiled on for hours — was meant as a family logo.
Badges will show it on a blue background.
Brooke fought back tears as she said: “Ben was so talented.”
She said of our support for her campaign: “I’m delighted The Sun is getting behind this.”
To get a badge and show your support, send a stamped addressed envelope to Ben’s Knife Campaign, 1 Virginia St, London, E98 1SN. Delivery may take up to 28 days.

Top 20: British talent making it state side
This year, the biggest hits on US television have one thing in common: the creative talent that brought them to the screen is British. Guy Adams reports from Los Angeles
Monday, 30 June 2008
Simon Cowell
In the UK, we make fun of his trousers, haircut, and colourful love-life. In America, "Mr Nasty" boasts a superstar following. Cowell's multi-faceted career (producer, A&R man and TV presenter) certainly pays well, too: in November he revealed on Top Gear that he stumps up £21m a year in income tax, putting his annual earnings at about £54m.
Ian McShane
To his middle-of-the road UK fans, McShane will forever be the perma-tanned antiques guru Lovejoy. But his career was revived in 2004 when he took the role of Al Swearengen in the hit series Deadwood. Since lifting a Golden Globe in 2005, the film roles have come flooding in, from Shrek the Third to Kung Fu Panda.
Terri Seymour
Call it incestuous if you will, but former Wheel of Fortune hostess Terri Seymour has been going great guns since moving to LA as the girlfriend of Simon Cowell. She is now working as a red-carpet correspondent for Extra, one of the most watched entertainment news shows in the US.
Ricky Gervais
The US's recent love affair with British comedy began with its TV networks realising that if you Americanise transatlantic hits, you lose what bought them success in the first place. For that leap of faith, blame Gervais, the man behind Extras and The Office, who is currently pursuing a Hollywood acting, producing and writing career.
Cat Deeley
Remember the comely-but-unremarkable lass from Sutton Coldfield, who played second fiddle to Ant & Dec? Now Ms Deeley lives in Beverly Hills, where she is a household name. Besides presenting gigs for Fox, ABC News, and the NBC Tonight show, she anchors the prime-time smash-hit talent show So You Think You Can Dance?
Nigel Lythgoe
Veteran ITV producer Lythgoe experienced a brush with fame in the UK as "Nasty Nigel" in the pioneering 2000 show Popstars. Then he moved to the USA, joined 19 Entertainment as head of TV, and helped bring American Idol to the screen – before morphing into "Nice Nigel," the creator and head judge of another 19 hit series: So You Think You Can Dance?
Paul Telegdy
As the BBC's top dog in Hollywood, Telegdy is in charge of Auntie's empire in the US. As well as securing the contract to make Dancing With the Stars for ABC, he's taken advantage of the new willingness by US TV networks to entrust UK formats to UK pros, and is working on the local version of Top Gear.
Matt Grant
A year ago, 20-something Grant was a stockbroker in London. Then he was "spotted" by a casting agent during a visit to Mahiki, the Mayfair boîte patronised by Princes William and Harry. He was asked to compete on a reality TV series, The Bachelor, and having subsequently found himself, in his own words, "a C or D list celebrity", is now pursuing a TV presenting career.
Colin Callender
If the Beeb needs a new D-G, expect Callender to make the shortlist. Head of HBO Films, he's one of British TV's strongest advocates in Hollywood. Callender's projects have garnered 57 Emmys and 18 Golden Globes.
Sheeraz Hasan
This wheeling, dealing Londoner has become one of the most powerful men in new media, thanks to his internet TV station Hollywood.tv, which shows paparazzi video footage and entertainment news stories to one million viewers a day. Often dubbed the Asian Perez Hilton, on account of his site's in-your-face bitchiness.
Gordon Ramsay
The chef has his fingers in as many pies here as he does back home. In addition to Kitchen Nightmares USA, he fronts Hell's Kitchen USA, and has taken his restaurant empire to LA, where he is rumoured to be house hunting.
Ed Westwick
Though its ratings remain low, Gossip Girl is one of the most talked-about new shows on US television. The teen drama is filming its second series – and owes much of its appeal to Hertfordshire's very own Westwick, who has become a fixture on the LA party circuit.
Hugh Laurie
An extraordinary ability to walk with a limp and carry off an American accent has turned the former Blackadder star's career around. When he first left the UK to record the hit series House, Laurie was seen as a long-in-the-tooth character actor; now he's one of TV's most bankable stars.
Mark Burnett
If you despair of the endless diet of reality TV that America inflicts upon the world, blame Burnett: a producer who invented the genre with Survivor in 2000. A former squaddie who has lived in LA since the early 1980s, he also pioneered The Apprentice and The Restaurant.
Melanie Greene
Agent, producer and founder of an eponymous talent firm that has turned a string of British TV actors into Hollywood stars. Her stable includes Michael Sheen, Paul Bettany, Ed Westwick and Lucy Davis. Greene is also the executive producer of the hit series Californication, which stars her client David Duchovny, together with Brit actress Natascha McElhone.
David Walliams
With his creative partner Matt Lucas, Walliams has spent the past three months creating an American spin-off of Little Britain for HBO. Simon Fuller is reported to be executive producer, though cynics may wonder if the Little Britain format has had its day.
Simon Fuller
The Spice Girls and S Club 7 helped Fuller to make his fortune in the music industry. His company, 19 Entertainment, then inflicted further crimes against pop, with the creation of the TV talent show. It owns the rights to every Idol format in the world, alongside a host of similar shows. Time magazine considers him to be one of the world's 100 most influential people.
Bear Grylls
The posh former SAS soldier is making a play for the lucrative, and now-vacant, "Steve Irwin" slot as American television's favourite purveyor of wild-animal-based danger. He's recently been in Los Angeles to publicise the launch of a new series on the Discovery Channel: Man vs Wild.
Conrad Green
A TV producer who worked on the very first Big Brother series in the UK before moving to LA as part of the original British "talent show" invasion five years ago. Green runs the BBC's production of Dancing With the Stars and is integral to Auntie's plans for future expansion in the US.
Nikki Parker
When Daniel Day-Lewis lifted his Oscar earlier this year, his publicist, Nikki Parker, was cheering from the sidelines. Having arrived in Los Angeles in the early 1990s with barely a penny to her name, Parker built up one of the city's foremost PR companies, Denmead; in 2004 it was sold to talent giant Rogers & Cowan, where she is currently executive vice-president.

Well, as you probably know me and Flippy are streetwise dogs:-)
And since the youngsters have come along we dont do as many festivals compared to what we used to.
So we have to get a few of our kicks from watching them on TV.
We used to go to LOADS of car shows/ music festivals/ car cruizes and the like but since mum hit the BIG 30 we have calmed down a tad. We still do a few outings but not as many compared to what we used to Flippy worked out a few nights ago that when she was a youngster she done over 100 different festivals and shows in one year (we have even been on loads of car scavanger hunts ~ they are sooooo brill!!0.
But we was searching on youtube for Glastonbury (which we went to a few years ago) and we come across this cracker of a video of JAY Z.
If you havent been to one of the GREATEST music festivals in the world you gotta check out Glastonbury on youtube ~ you just might enjoy it.
Also if you get the time check out the one with AMY WINEHOUSE singing....OH MY DOGGY GOSH!!! THAT girl seriously needs help!!!

Around in the front garden I rested my weary tootsies on the grass laying down I rested my lil tired olde body and commenced a snooze....
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Then spit spot....I woke up....
Behold in front of dad was a lil olde robin and not just any olde robin our resident robin...
He was finding worms, grubs etc etc to eat and so dad took a piccie of him....
If you look at the number 5 picture you'll see our lil robin finding the food for its family....its soooooooo cute!
Hes the dad of the family and has been keeping us company in the garden for the last few weeks:-))
Robin history.
The robin was held to be a storm-cloud bird and sacred to Thor, the god of thunder, in Norse mythology. More recently, it has become strongly associated with Christmas, taking a starring role on many a Christmas card since the mid-19th century. The Robin has also appeared on many Christmas postage stamps. An old English folk tale seeks to explain the Robin's distinctive red breast. Legend has it that when Jesus was dying on the cross, the Robin, then simply brown in colour, flew to his side and sang into his ear in order to comfort him in his pain. The blood from his wounds stained the Robin's breast, and thereafter all Robins got the mark of Christ's blood upon them.
An alternate legend has it that its breast was scorched fetching water for souls in Purgatory. The association with Christmas, however, more probably arises from the fact that postmen in Victorian Britain wore red uniforms and were nicknamed "Robin"; the Robin featured on the Christmas card is an emblem of the postman delivering the card. Robins also feature in the traditional children's tale, Babes in the Wood; the birds cover the dead bodies of the children.
Britain does not have an official national bird. The Robin was the most popular bird according to readers of The Times in the early 1960s. Following this, despite some lobbying, the British government did not actively promote the concept of an official national bird. The Robin was used as a symbol of a Bird Protection Society for a few years only.
Two English professional football clubs, Bristol City and Swindon Town are nicknamed "The Robins"; the nickname is derived from both clubs' home colours being red. A small bird is an unusual choice, though is thought to symbolise agility in darting around the field.
In addition to the football club, the Swindon Robins is the full name of the local Speedway promotion. It is also the nickname of the English Rugby League team Hull Kingston Rovers. The nickname is derived from the club's home colours, of white with a red band, linking to the redbreast of the Robin.

Theres nothing in our house that we love more than having discussions on puplitic's from Obama to Clinton (Personally we would've gone for Clinton) to Gordan Brown and his shenanigans so when we was looking thru the yahoo news and come across this lil tail we laffed our lil cotton paws off!!!
The junior transport minister has caused a minor political storm by calling his countrymen "bloody miserable".
Writing on his blog, Tom Harris, MP for Glasgow South, said Britain had never had it so good, but that it had not made most Britons any less grumpy.
"There are more two-car homes in Britain today than there are homes without a car at all," he said.
"We live longer, eat healthier (if we choose), have better access to forms of entertainment never imagined a generation ago (satellite TV, DVD, computer games), the majority of us have fast access to the worldwide web, which we use to enable even more spending and for entertainment. Crime is down.
"So why is everyone so bloody miserable?
"What happened to that post-war optimism and commitment to common values?" he continues.
"Are they gone forever and if so, why? If not, how can we bring them back?"
The blog provoked an instant response from the Tories, with shadow treasury chief secretary Philip Hammond saying: "The short answer to Mr Harris's question asking why everyone is so miserable is, 'We've got Gordon Brown as our prime minister'.
PRICELESS!!!!!!! lmao
Just so ya know ~ us Brits are a miserable bunch SOME of the time but most of the time we are just like the next nation we lurve to laff!
Just a shame the Scots (both Harris and Brown are Scots) dont always have a sense of humour must be because their are the type of person that David Hasselhoff called Piers Morgan....now what was it.......started with a W and ended with a R........WOOFER lmaoooo......arrrrrooooooooo

My lil paws cannot believe it...ever since I was a wee pup I've had a great big conifer in the front garden that I would like to christen every day in the unique doggie way.
Every day I would move my lil butt so fast and leave my calling card under the tree so no other animal would go near it.
.
*flippy says* Yeah right furball ~ I would leave my lil calling card under it as well hehehehe
Quinn continues* Well last weekend they have got rid of the tree!!!
Mum and dad said that it was becoming overgrown and wild and as it was so near the road it would have to go....sniff!
So now our garden is open...open to the elements and open to other animals and ....no place for me to weedle!
O well...as you can see from the pic taken of me today...that cherry tree is just not the same as the conifer....I miss my big tree!

Over the last few weeks you've prob noticed that us tzus have been changing our videos as we've been watching BGT well the finale was last night and o my was it a surprise!!!!
Halfway thru we had to watch Dr Who (alfie has to have his fix of him and o doggy gosh its a two parter so the lil scamp has been going on and on about it). But even thru we missed a few acts we was surprised on the result of BGT....
George Sampson, a 14-year-old breakdancer, won £100,000 and a place on the Royal Variety Performance after triumphing in the final of Britain's Got Talent.
Signature was the runner-up while Andrew Johnston, 13, came in third place.
Sampson, who failed to reach the semi-final last year performed to Stayin' Alive/Rock Your Body while Signature tackled Billie Jean and Johnson performed Pie Jesu. Faryl Smith, 12, sang Ave Maria and Andrew Muir, 24, sang Imagine. However, the two favourites, Smith and Muir, failed in the final. Nemisis and Cheeky Monkeys tackled respectively Pump It, and We Go Together from Grease.
The two dancers in Cheeky Monkeys are eight and nine years old. The other finalists included Escala, a classical string quartet who performed Palladio, Kate and Gin, a dog act who performed to the James Bond theme, and Strike, a martial arts duo who did a routine based on I Love the Way You Move, by the Bodyrockers

O boy you shouldve seen me on Sunday!
Mum had taken us out on our early morning walk (yeap the 5am one) and it was a gorgeous warm morning already (LURVE summer!)
So there we was walking thru the country park ....me...Winnie...Flippy....Alfie and Cinders when Winnie decided to start running after bunnies in the park. Mum put winnie on the lead and had only me...Cinders and flippy off.....
Then Cinders got the wind up her arse and went flying off.
Well the top dog Flippy wasnt having this and went flying after her...
All of a sudden Flippy barked.....
We all know Flippy's barks and this was different to her usual playing barks. So us lot all went running after her.
Well would you adam and eve it!
Flippy was standing by the pond...and well...Cindy wasnt.
I done a running jump straight into the pond...just as mum spied Cindy in difficulty in the pond!
She got down on her hands and knees and yanked Cinders out of the pond...She was OK. A bit out of breath but still good. So mum diverted her attention to me....
Well I went under...and mum was yabbering to me all the time...saying come on you can swim....you know ...Come on sweetheart...and she was just about going to jump into the pond after me...when a miracle happened.
I swimmed...ok...maybe a bit clumsy but I could swim! so I slowly edged towards her but this is the first time I have ever done this. So I was very very
slow..so slow that all of a sudden I felt mum yank me out of the pond.....wow.....NOT gonna jump in that pond again!!!
Well you shouldve seen Cinders...she was going CrAzY!!
Running around and not coming to recalls.....going bonkers and just running here there and everywhere! Well I wasnt gonna do that....no way!
I'm staying in the nice safe haven of the pack.....while the nut job Cinders was running around and then she went running into the woods...and gone completely out of sight!
Well, mum done a phone call home and got dad out looking for her...and nan was looking out for her...but we lost Cinders for well over an hour...
We searched the whole of the woods and surrounding roads....and you know what happened?
After nan went back indoors...within a few min....Cinders come walking up the path and straight indoors as if nothing had happened.....OMDG that was well over an hour later.....
So as you can tell...Cinders is not gonna be offlead for some time now....but today we all went off for our usual walk and it was BRILLIANT!!!!
Winnie didnt chase bunnies...we all stayed together and mum didnt go grey from having to get us out of the ponds!!! WOOHOO!!!
O and the treats part...well....we got tripe...loads of it yesterday...and why? Cos we was well behaved dogs that didnt go running off...so to all those dogsterians out there...dont run off as our mums and dads love us very much and while we live with our parents we dont have to fend for ourselves...the food....treats....bedding...clothes etc...are given to us for FREE!
Remember fellow doggies
Home Good......Going out into the wild on ya own...very very bad!!!!

Annifursary of one of Labour's Better leaders!!
On May 12 1994, Labours proven leader John Smith (and no not the beer:-)) passed away.
1994: Labour leader John Smith dies at 55
The Labour leader John Smith has died in St Bartholomew's hospital in London after two serious heart attacks.
The 55-year-old leader of the opposition suffered his first attack at his central London flat.
He had a second heart attack in the ambulance on the way to hospital and was pronounced dead at 0915 BST.
He leaves behind his wife, Elizabeth, and three daughters, all in their twenties.
The news comes as a shock to his party and the nation.
He was regarded as a man of integrity - decent and honest and was widely expected to lead Labour to victory at the next general election and become prime minister.
Senior politicians from all parties have paid tribute to Mr Smith and today's sitting of the House of Commons has been suspended as a mark of respect.
John Smith trained as a barrister and entered Parliament in 1970 as a Labour member for North Lanarkshire, Scotland. He served as secretary for trade in 1970 and subsequently as Labour spokesperson on economic and industrial issues, developing a reputation as a moderate.
After the Conservative election victory two years ago, he took over from Neil Kinnock as party leader and set about unifying the left and right factions of Labour.
Family man
Mr Smith was devoted to his family and was determined to spend as many weekends as possible at his home in Morningside, Edinburgh, but this made for a punishing public regimen.
It took its toll on a man who had already had one heart attack back in 1988.
The deputy party leader Margaret Beckett is interim party leader until a successor is chosen. Home Affairs spokesman Tony Blair is favourite to win the leadership and Gordon Brown, Robin Cook and John Prescott are expected to stand too.
Quinns thought.....
John Smith was a great leader and he paved the way for the labour victory over the Conservatives in 1997. Even though I'm a blue dog thru and thru (we're conservatives supporters) credit is given when credit is due and if it wasnt for John Smith death Labour wouldnt have had Tony Blair nor Gordon Brown.
RIP John Smith.

This is a fantastic weekend for the tzus!!! Our two favourite footie teams are playing MAJOR matches!!!
Barclays Premier League
Chelsea V Bolton 3pm GMT sunday.....
Avram Grant believes that whoever holds their nerve will be crowned Premier League champions on Sunday.
Chelsea trail Manchester United only on goal difference, with the Red Devils travelling to Wigan and Grant's men at home to Bolton, with both matches live on Sky Sports.
And the Israeli feels that whoever copes better with the pressure on what is bound to be a tension-filled afternoon will be holding the trophy aloft.
Sir Alex Ferguson's side are in pole position and will claim a 10th Premier League crown if they defeat the Latics, but Chelsea are waiting eagerly in the wings and are determined to pounce.
Mental strength
Grant told Sky Sports News: "Nobody expected it and nobody believed that it would come to this stage, we believed it all the time.
"When you come to the last month or two months it is mental strength, but you also have to show physical qualities.
"When you come to the last game, mental strength is very important.
"We have a game against Bolton, which is not an easy game and we need to win, I think it will be a very tough game.
"Of course we will look at the result from Wigan. We hope that everything will be OK.
"Wigan haven't lost at home since January, they played fantastically against us before. They know that they are under the spotlight all over the world and everyone is watching so I am sure they will do their best."
Respect
Both clubs are indulging in mind-games ahead of Sunday's end-of-season spectacular, and Grant could not resist a joke at the expense of Ferguson.
The Scot has expressed concerns that Bolton have been too relaxed after all-but securing their top-flight status last weekend, with Grant light-heartedly likening the United boss to a member of the Israeli special forces.
He joked: "I told everyone that Alex is from the Mossad, and nobody believed me. He knows everything!"
Grant added: "We know Alex, I like him, I respect him, but we know why he says these things sometimes.
"I don't think he knows what is happening at Bolton, unless he wants to be manager there."
Ricardo Carvalho remains a major doubt for Chelsea after injuring his back in the victory over Newcastle, and he is still to return to training after intensive treatment.
Grant admitted: "He didn't train today, but we will see tomorrow."
We're SUPPORTING both the reds for today EBBSFLEET UNITED and sending out good tzu thoughts for the BLUES tomorrow...GO CHELSEA!!!!
And dont forget the match on 21st May Chelsea V Man U!!!

Five puppies imported into Britain from the streets of Sri Lanka may have been infected with rabies, a quarantine centre manager said.
Tests on one confirmed the disease and experts are analysing the remains of the other four to establish whether the infection was present.
All five animals have been killed by vets after arriving at a quarantine kennel in Chingford, north London.
The dog known to have rabies bit three people at the kennel and they were being monitored by doctors on Saturday.
But Jeremy Robinson, general manager of the kennel, said the three people bitten were showing no signs of ill health.
And he said he was confident that no other animal at the kennel had been infected with rabies.
He said there was no need for public concern and the episode had proved that the quarantine worked.
http://news.uk.msn.com/Article.aspx?cp-documentid=817490 4
The kennels are privately owned and run by the Goddard veterinary group. It is overseen and monitored by Defra.
Mr Robinson, who is general manager of the veterinary practice and the kennels, said the kennels generally housed about 30 dogs and 25 cats He said the majority were in quarantine because their owners had moved to Britain from various countries.
Mr Robinson said the five dogs had arrived from Sri Lanka on April 17. He said they had been brought into the country by a charity which rescued dogs from the streets of Sri Lanka and arranged for them to be given new homes in the UK.

Three people are being treated for exposure to rabies after being bitten by an infected puppy which was in quarantine.
The puppy had been brought to the UK from Sri Lanka, said the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
The people bitten were at the centre, thought to be in the Chingford area of Essex, and are being vaccinated.
The dog died whilst in quarantine, and this contained any public health risk, the Health Protection Agency said.
The dog had been held at the centre since 18 April, and died on Friday.
Other animals that may have come into contact with the puppy were being checked, Defra said.
But it stressed that the likelihood of further infections was "highly unlikely" and the UK remained "free of rabies" because the case had occurred in quarantine.
'System working'
Acting Chief Veterinary Officer Alick Simmons said: "While initial tests show that this puppy has tested positive for rabies, this shows that the system is working and the case has been picked up while the animal is in quarantine.
"We are now tracing animals that have moved from the kennels to ensure that all animals that have come into contact with the puppy are monitored."
The location of the quarantine premises has been given by officials only as the South East, but Tory MP Iain Duncan Smith said he had been told it was in his Chingford and Woodford Green constituency in Essex.
He said he had received a call on Friday evening from environment minister Lord Rooker.
He said: "Naturally, I am very concerned about the welfare of the staff who have been affected.
"I was assured by the minister that the situation is under control."
Shadow environment secretary Peter Ainsworth said it was "concerning" that rabies had returned to the UK, but said it appeared the quarantine system had worked.
He called for "swift action" to ensure the disease did not spread to the wider environment.
No treatment
Rabies is a viral disease which affects the central nervous system. Once symptoms appear it is almost always fatal, but patients can be treated with antibodies and a vaccination to fight the virus after being bitten.
Rabies was eliminated from the animal population in the UK in the early 20th century, but it continues to infect a variety of animals in other parts of the world.
The World Health Organisation estimates the annual global death toll from the disease to be between 40,000 and 70,000, with the majority of cases occurring in south and south-east Asia.
Twenty cases of rabies have been reported in England and Wales since 1946, which were all imported.
A licensed bat handler died in Scotland from a rabies-like infection caught from a bat in 2002.
Initial symptoms of the disease include anxiety, headaches and fever, with the effects of encephalitis (inflammation of the brain) intensifying later.
The patient may also suffer spasms of the swallowing muscles, making drinking difficult or impossible.
Death from respiratory paralysis is almost inevitable once the symptoms have appeared

The History
St. George is the patron saint of England. His emblem, a red cross on a white background, is the flag of England. It was adopted by Richard The Lion heart and brought to England in the 12th century. The king's soldiers wore it on their tunics to avoid confusion in battle.
St. George's Day is on April 23rd, so, in a sense, this is England's National Day.
Winston Churchill wrote:
"There is a forgotten, nay almost forbidden word,
which means more to me than any other.
That word is ENGLAND."

Quinn Jewsbury who, until four weeks ago, was not even nominated to stand in the General Election, is Britain's new Prime Minister. Jewsbury will take over power this morning after an amazing day that left Labour leader Gordon Brown out of a job, despite the Scotsman only replacing his predecessor, Tony Blair, in June 2007.
There were amazing scenes in Jewsbury's home town of England when a disconsolate Brown conceded defeat at around 2.30am this morning having lost 68 of Britain's 76 key battleground constituencies, including Manchester South and Brighton. Brown appeared on the steps of no. 10 Downing Street looking extremely downbeat. In an emotional speech, he congratulated Quinn Jewsbury on his remarkable election victory. Brown, sporting a steely expression, appeared bewildered that he should have lost the election to the relatively unknown Jewsbury when he had had such a commanding lead at the beginning of the electoral campaign.
In contrast, 21-year-old Jewsbury was euphoric. Surrounded by friends and relatives in his hometown of England, he could not conceal his absolute delight at the result.
According to the usually reliable Mori exit polls, it was Brown who was expected to pip Jewsbury in the race to number ten. However, a rousing and emotional "Winston Churchill" style address to the nation shown live on BBC and ITV television by Jewsbury's best friend was seen as the turning point of the campaign. Amazingly, Jewsbury was only persuaded to stand for the election by his best friend, , two months ago, following the unexpected resignation of Lord Snogbottom of Westminster. Snogbottom had been forced to stand down following the "Little Big Horny Affair" when Snogbottom admitted using government funds to finance his member enlargement. Jewsbury's campaign had quickly gained momentum and there was widespread public support for his manifesto, which included the abolition or reform of most current taxes earning him the title of the Robin Hood of Politics.
Controversially, Jewsbury had also seconded the support of Brown's predecessor, Tony Blair, and of many celebrities including Lily Allen, Steve McClaren and Chanelle from Big Brother 8. President George Bush was one of the first to congratulate Quinn Jewsbury last night saying he believed the British people had chosen well.
Tomorrow, Her Majesty the Queen will ask Jewsbury to form a new Parliament and to lead the country through the next five years. When interviewed by Sky News last night, a modest Prime Minister Jewsbury promised to stay loyal to his manifesto saying: "My first priority is to abolish the tax on dog food, dog treats and dog toys."

Well, its only so often that I'm allowed offlead on our walks as I'm what might you call slightly ignorant on recalls (whoops hehehehe). But yesterday me and Winnie was allowed offlead together on our second walk of the day ~ WOOHOO!!!
So there I was sniffing, cocking, running, licking blades of grass and being a right lil nusiance when we come across my good pals the alsations.....
My pals (the alsations) will be moving back up narf (sniff) it seems their owner was down here only for the duration of building the channel tunnel rail link, the A2 conversions and that all come to a end a couple of months ago. So their dad has to go back up narf or to wherever the work takes him. So I'm gonna miss my romps with my huge fourlegged pals!
So I had my last run with my alsations and now I'm gonna have to play with the newer dogs around (the alsations I've known for about 4 years ~ since I was a pup).
But going back onto my title ~ I've been investigating EVERYTHING at the moment ~ and I done a huge NO NO yesterday whooops! I kinda sampled foxes doo doo.Which didnt please mum at all whoops! It tasted so good though and I havent done it in such a long time (but it JUMPED out at me) and well as they say a change is as good as the rest hehehehe.

Well its the weekend and boy have I've been waiting for this day!
Tis Irish weekend!
Mum will be walking around speaking like a foreigner (she always does the Irish lint) and dad will be attempting his. Hehehe silly beggers!!
Talking about silly beggers got a silly joke for ya as its Irish weekend!
A Belfast man was ashamed of his accent, and decided to go to elocution lessons in London.
Three years later he was speaking perfect BBC English, and he decided to return home and celebrate with a drink.
He caught the Shuttle to Belfast, got a taxi into the city and walked into the first establishment he came to.
'I say, old chap,' he said to the proprietor, 'perhaps you could furnish me with a large gin and tonic and one of your finest Havana cigars.'
'You're from around these parts, aren't you?' said the proprietor.
'Good grief,' said the stunned Belfast man. 'How did you know that?'
'Well, you see,' said the proprietor, 'this is a butcher's.'
Boom boom!!! hehehehe

Punxsutawney Phil, the world’s most famous groundhog, makes his annual weather prediction on Groundhog Day, February 2.
If after awakening from his hibernation in Gobbler’s Knob, Pennsylvania, Phil cannot see his shadow he remains above ground ending his hibernation, but if his shadow is visible (that is, if the sun is shining), six more weeks of cold weather will ensue, and the animal returns to its burrow. And as anyone will tell you, Phil is never wrong.
So do you think is gonna be a good weather or not?

The RSPCA is opposed to the use of animals in circuses.
As part of the Animal Welfare Act, new regulations on the use of animals in circuses will hopefully be considered later this year.
The government in England has committed to introduce a ban on the use of certain non-domesticated (wild) species in travelling circuses.
There are just 33 wild animals left in circuses in the UK. These are:
1 elephant, called Anne
1 black bear, called Ming
4 zebras
5 lions
5 pythons
7 tigers
10 camels
The RSPCA is calling for a ban on the use of all the animals listed above, but also for the ban to be extended to include other species, such as polar bears, yak and alligators, which are currently used in circuses in other parts of Europe.
The RSPCA believes the circus is no place for an animal. The life for an animal in a circus consists of frequent travel, restricted movements, poor living conditions and loud noises.
To find out more or to read other RSPCA issues/ topics please check out the page below.

Heheheh have I got a story to share withyou guys!
Well you all probably know that us tzus get up early in the morning (mums fault for getting us into a 5am routine). But she gets to take us out on 2 separate walks (fitness routine). Well the lil uns went out on the early walks. As boy we are getting frost down here and its 0 or below too cold for our lil olde bones! But the kids enjoy the brisk fresh air.
So a lil later on she takes out us oldies for a walk and we get to see what the lil uns have sniffed and smelled.
Well we get to walk along the edge of woods and feel the leaves under our feet the birds singing and the squirrel running along with fat balls....eh?
Yeap that is what we saw a lil olde squirrel running along with a fat ball in his mouth. And he was actually running along quite fast but us Tzus couldnt believe a lil squirrelette carrying a hefty olde fatball!!
We had to stop ourselves rolling around on our backs laffing our lil cotton socks off.
So remember peeps if you see a squirrel (grey one) think of our lil guy with his fat ball....running along with it.....and smile.....cos it sure did put a smile on our faces today:-)

Lest we forget!
As you guys have probably seen our poppy day is the 11 of November and is observed on the second Sunday of the month. When wreaths are laid at war memorials usually in conjunction with the Royal British Legion.
The Queen usually lays a wreath at the cenotaph in Whitehall London.
But it is always 11 November when we give 2 minutes silence to commemorate all the people we have loved and lost and all the people that gave their lives for us to live ours.
So please think of our tzus on the 11 November at the 11 hour giving our two minutes silence to the armistice of the 1st world war.
Check out the Royal British Legions Poppy man who is travelling the UK.

Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, twas his intent
To blow up king and parliament.
Three score barrels were laid below
To prove old England's overthrow.
By God's mercy he was catched
With a dark lantern and lighted match.
Holler boys, holler boys, let the bells ring
Holler boys, holler boys, God save the King

Woohoo it's finally here bonfire night burning of the guy and dads knackered smelly olde shoes that he likes to wear even though they have seen better dads. Mum has put them on the fire and I am postive I heard her say *burn baby burn*!
Remember dogsters take care these next few nights!
D-Day
There are several additional steps which can be taken on the day of the event
• Check that the den area is accessible, and prepared.
• Take your dog for a walk to make sure he has been to the toilet before the fireworks start.
• Feed him an hour before the event, adding some potato or white pasta to fill him up and make him sleepy
• If you can, set up some rhythmic music in the room. This can help to mask out the noise, so turn it up to a moderate level. Do, however, check that he likes it beforehand – and turn it off if he doesn't, or seems more stressed.
• When the fireworks start, take your pet to his den area and encourage him to settle there.
• Do NOT try to pat and stroke him in an attempt to sooth him if he is showing signs of stress. This simply rewards how he is behaving and teaches him that he's right to be scared. Don't let him know that you're concerned.
• Instead, if he's not settling in his den, try to distract him with a game or an easy training session, but don't force him to play.
• You may even want to consider setting up a TV in the “safe” room and simply sitting in there with him. Normal quiet, family company may help to calm him.
All this advice and more can be found on this page...

TAKE YOUR DOG TO WORK DAY
Friday 14 September 2007Greetings dog lover!
It's Take Your Dog To Work Day on Friday 14 September and The Blue Cross is again calling on pooches up and down the country to lend their owners a paw at work for the day. Now celebrating its twelfth year, this event is a national celebration of the bond that people share with their dogs.
Every year, tens of thousands of dogs bound along with their owners on this special day to work places across the UK. Last year, thousands of you took part and the events of the day attracted attention right across the globe.
This year's event officially launched by cast of The Bill
We teamed up with the cast of ITV1 drama The Bill to encourage people to take part in Take Your Dog to Work Day.
The actors' support for the event coincides with the introduction of The Bill's first animal character, terrier cross Harry. Harry is pictured with Ali Bastian, who plays PC Sally Armstrong.
Walk this way...
For this year's event, The Blue Cross, in association with Hill's Pet Nutrition, is encouraging dog owners to take a break from the rat race and walk their dog during their working day.
Pedometers up for grabs
To help you monitor the number of steps you take with your dog for this year's event, the first 500 people to register online can order a limited edition pedometer (left), complete with calorie counter. Remember, always seek advice from your vet on the correct amount of exercise your dogs needs.
Read about the benefits of walking for you and your dog.
The serious stuff
The event is organised by The Blue Cross and asks dog owners to consider how they can spend more time with their pets. As well as promoting responsible pet ownership the event also raises funds for the charity, allowing it to continue its work caring for unwanted and sick pets. Registration is free, owners are simply asked to fundraise for The Blue Cross.
Want to be part of the action?

The gorgeous beach bunny chloe has tagged me to name five things about meself hmmms. Gotta put me thinking cap on about this one:-)
The rules of the game is this.
Here are the rules of the game. Make a diary entry, giving 5 pawsome facts about yourself! Choose 5 pals to tag, and list them last! Post the rules of the game. Send your pals a pawmail or rosette telling them they have been tagged to play the game!.
Thinking*********....... five facts.....
1) On walks I will race race after the gorgeous blonde (brunette/ redhead/ heck whoever is in front really) whos walking in front no matter what the tzu gang behind me are doing (thats mum and the the other pupsicles).
2) When I pee I have to break dance afterwards (it looks like I'm doing a moon walk)I'll do this out on walks as well as in the garden.
3) When polish is being used or any aerosols indoors I have to wipe my face on the carpets et cetera as I honestly did feel the mist coming off of the said aerosol as its being sprayed! (even when I'm in another room ~ I still wipe my face:-))
4) If you say hello to me I will answer you back (I bark atcha:-))
5) When mum brought me as a pup I was jet black colour but I've become greyer as I've got older. (dread to think what colour I'll end up)
Hope you guys can do this:-)

Mum and me have been doing our new standalone player for each of our profiles (the other tzus should all have different play lists if we've done it right:-) All of us thought we needed a individual one as we all have various taste in music .
Mine of course is of the main romantic kind...as I'm romantic kinda dog....
Whats that??? Me lady would like flowers and choc's?...what melady wants ...me lady gets!! *Quinn quickly gets his piggy bank and sorts though all his notes to buy said items:-)))*
We just wanted to apologise guys for not being on much its been kinda hectic. Mum's school broke up last week so she didnt finish till late. Friday night kinda late ~ getting things ready for the september timetable (I've told her it too far away but she wont listen). Anyway she's looking forward to the new students next term ~ as they couldnt be any worse than this terms students arggghhhhhh!!!
But enough about the olde bird lets get back to me. I went into the garden earlier and had my usual patrol of the back garden when I come across a wasps nest! Oh my doggy god I barked and got mum running (hehehehe I'm so cruel:-)) And now she has banned us from the back garden till its gets taken away (hopefully by the end of this week). O and guess what we have got more lodgers......
We have now got living in our garden....
Wild pigeons
Wren (a nesting one so cute and small)
Robins
House sparrows
and Black birds....
Gonna have a trudge around and see what else I can find:-)

So this morning we thought we would wake mum up at 4.30ish with a gentle chorus of woofs hehehehe
Boy was she haggard looking when she come downstairs there's us ready for our walk (early morning traipse is good for the soul) and shes in trackie bottoms and t shirt. Puff* we had to help her get ready and be out before all the other critters are roaming around.
Winnie surprised mum today though first time EVER she has barked at a cat (ginger and white tom) and made the poor lil pussy cat run.
We're glad though mum didnt wait for the rain to stop though as its still raining now. And talk about mist (very unusual for this time of year) the temps are in the 70's but we have got it raining like crazy. Methinks this global warming sux!!
But our lil bit of news is a major thing. Mum is our village watch co ordinator and she was sitting sorting though her emails when one of our neighbours knocked on our door. Someone from our neighbourhood had found a lil shih tzu and so we had to take her in and and found her owner. Well I never saw a bird work so first. She got a found poster printed up and put outside, informed the local shops and postie/ milkman etc. And before you could say jiminy cricket the lil girl was back with her mum (it did take about an hour) and all we had to do was share our treats and bedding with her.
She did notice one thing though, the lil girl had no ID tag on her so our mum couldnt phone up her mum and tell her she was save and well. So folks remember to have a collar/ tag on your dog at all times ~ you just never know when you might need it.
Will woof witcha later dogsterians luv and wags Quinn X

A pet dog has been successfully fitted with an artificial paw after undergoing pioneering surgery.
Storm, a Belgian Shepherd, had part of his paw amputated after being diagnosed with cancer in his foot.
It is thought to be the first case where the skin has successfully grown into metal, providing a resilient seal against infection.
Surrey vet Noel Fitzpatrick, who pioneered the surgery, said it was the "holy grail" of amputee research.
Mr Fitzpatrick, whose practice is in Farnham, said: "The miraculous thing for Storm is that the bone has grown into the metal, and the skin has grown into the metal, so now he has a resilient seal which cannot break down and he cannot get infected through it.
"That's been the holy grail of amputee research for years."
As part of the research for the operation scientists studied how deers antlers have evolved in order to understand how skin could mould to another substance.
Storm's prosthetic allows him to balance and use his leg more naturally.

Well mum has been decorating (just finished) which she has been doing for the last few weekends and had the Diana concert on TV and boy o boy was it good. 7 hours (as Steve Erwin would say *crikey*) of music and video's of our late beloved princess and us lil doggies was running round the house while Status Quo (amongst others) was belting out their hits. It was predicted that 140 countries tuned into that concert. Wow image the electricity bill!!!
It was preety awesome though and we're sending good tzu karma and also kudos to all the acts that appeared yesterday. Guys we lurve ya and Diddy we didnt think much of you before the concert but WOW!!!! Our country seems to have taken a battering from the weather/ terror attacks and yesterday we stand united it was a darn good day!!!
Back to the tzu empire......
After she finished decorating (which we thought took way to long) she gave the sprogs their birthday pressie ~ well part of it. She has bought all of us a lil doggie sofa to lie on as shes torn up the old carpet (we kinda christened it ALOT hehehe) and we was finding laying on the rugs a bit hard for our lil bodies. She has promised to have a new carpet down before winter sets in (she better otherwise guess whos gonna be sleeping downstairs and whose bed we'll be sleeping in AAARRRROOOOO:-))))
Anyway gotto go peeps
o one last thing...
Happy 1st birthday Winnie, Cindy and Alfie be good you lil sods!!!

Coming from the Goode Olde UK Reporter Quinn your humble servant would like to say a few words.
As some of you might be aware that on Sunday 1st of July it wouldve been Princess Diana's 46 birthday. It is also nearly 10 years since she passed from this world into the next. Some say a light was extinguished that fateful night but I would like to think that Diana (meaning the hunter) is up in heaven with Steve Erwin and Mother Teresa (who incidently died a week after Diana) meeting and greeting humans and animals into the next life. (we are catholics and do believe in life after death).
In recognition of her life there is a posthumous birthday party which will be screened and celebrated around the world. Many like me and you will not be able to go as well we wasnt invited (darn it!!) or its too far away for us to go (double doggy darn it) but we will be celebrating her life in our own special way.
If you havent heard of her please take the time and do a google (or whichever search machine you use) and see what a truly amazing remarkable lady she really was.
Now, I'm not a Royalist puppy and I wasn't alive when she was
around. But I have asked my mum a few questions on her. I would like to hear other dogsterians answers for these as well.
So Mum did you ever see/ meet Princess Diana in real life?
' Actually no, I never meet Princess Diana but I did see Lady Diana Spencer on the day she announced her engagement to Prince Charles. Me and my dad was up London at Guys hospital (he was a kidney patient) and we walked to where the press conference was'. Way back in 1981 ouch long time ago!!
Where was you the night she died on August 31 1997.
' I was at a friends engagement party (they are still together now with one child) and I got hopelessly drunk and slept in till about 7:30 the sunday morning. I woke up and put the TV on and was gob smacked on what I saw on TV. All the news readers was saying Diana had been killed in Paris and I had to flick through all the channels just to make sure what my eyes and ears was showing/ telling me was true. After the initial shock I called up my kin and we all went to my mums and watched the coverage at her place.
Thank you for letting us share this with you and if you write anything in your dogster diaries please leave us a lil message as we would love to hear your views.
So to everyone please remember our Princess of Hearts on this coming Sunday. Play, have fun and above all else enjoy the life you have.
Thank you once again for letting us onto your computer screen.
Bye for now dogsters licks and wags Quinn X

Well, mum is not at work today but that doesn't mean a good days walk (hehehe she is so mean!) but yesterday we had some good sunshine weather all day!
But we woke up this morning (friday) and guess what? RAIN!!!!
O doggy god this is driving us bonkers, we want to be able to go out and run around. But if this persists we are going to be indoor doggies for a lot more of our rainy summer.
Mum says it might be something to do with Wimbledon as whenever tennis is happening it always rains (these two weeks of tennis drags soooo much!)
Anyway if you wanna see some other amazing piccies of rain blighted Britain take a gander at this page ~ yeap this woman really is waist deep in rain water ~ Thank doggy god we're not there we would have to do a lot of doggy paddling!

♫Rain, rain go away and come back another day♫ chant the tzu's and boy has it come back with revenge!
We live in the countryside at the top of a huge hill (luckily for us ~ perfect for sledding in the winter). And all it has been doing for the past week or so is raining...and raining....and more rain. The gutters have become blocked that we had a few mini fountains on our walks. But we have been lucky that we havent had any major flooding down this way it's just very very windy.
We havent been out on a proper walk though for a few days though sniff* The fields are all bogged down and squelchy and mum wont allow us to run in the neighbouring fields just in case we start sinking in them and she wont be able to get us out. But we have (weather permitting) been able to walk on the roadside and also been able to run on the small construction site thats nearby (its mostly chalk rocks etc). The builders there love to play ball with me and Winnie hehehehe
If you wanna see some flooding pictures from various people from the UK take a look at this site...

We gotto go now as we wanna enjoy the sunshine (it keeps making sporadic appearances) ....esp as this weekend we are going to have more rain arghhhhhhhhh

Well mum had done some shopping before she got home yesterday cos its her day off today and she wanted to have some relax time and also take a few pictures for the album (also for the pen pal thingy;-)).
Well she brought home these smelly cheese crackers from Marks and Spencer. Me ~ I'm not one to eat a lot of cheese unlike Wallace aka Wallace and Gromit. But when I smelt the heavenly scent coming from these crackers I was in lurve!
They smelt good ~ too good to be true so while mum had a couple with her coffee I curled around her legs like a lil purdy cat ~ but alas no avail. She wasnt going to let me have any (this human def doesnt know who's top dog!). So she got up to ansa the telephone and lo and behold I jumped up onto the sofa knocked the box of crackers on the floor and me and the tots all clumbered all over eachother to grab a few snacks.
And you know what?
They tasted just as good as we imagined.
Hehehe now all we gotto do is hide the evidence of them and no one will ever know we had them.

We always go out in the morning's and usually on a sunday mum and dad takes us out but dad had a late night so mum took us out on a early morning trek.
We go into the woods and have a scout around to see if theres any magic mushrooms to eat (mum goes bonkers when we eat them). Or if theres anything we can roll in when we heard this strange noise. We all stopped and listened and again it made a noise. All of us looked up and squinting we could just make out a lil wood pecker ~ awesome! I was just gonna bark when mum said nooooooooooo so we all just carried on our walk (mum wishes she had her camera ~ typical when you want your camera you dont have it when you do have it there's nothing to take a piccie off).
O if any twitchers are interested it looks like it was a Great Spotted Woodpecker. So cute.
I love watching birds ~ wish I could fly like them then I wouldn't spend winter here I would go to the bahamas etc hehehehe.

Let them eat cake....and boy did they mean it when they made the new Skoda Fabia car (since being bought by VW it has helped the Skoda reputation ~ from being a old rust bucket to a OK type of car).
So what could Skoda do to make their car a more talked about product? Use the Hansel and Gretel way and instead of making a house out of cake. Make a replica of the new Skoda out of everything gooey and o so naughty for your waist line. Bring in a Swanscombe confectionary firm (only a few miles from our house) and ensure the car looks as good as it tastes. WAY TO GO!
OK, my peeps wont be buying a new Skoda but we have been devouring the advert on television. O to be able to taste the delicious goodness would be divine!
If you want to see how the cake was made, on our myspace blog we have got a mini video of it. And also if you look in our pics part we have uploaded the story about the cake from our local rag.
Take a gander at our pages on http://www.myspace.com/tzus
BTW, just thought we'd add...they never offered the cake car to the local doggies to eat! Grrrrrrrrr we had our bibs on and lil spoons at the ready as well.

And it didnt hurt at all!
Thanks Slipper ~ doodle bug that was a pawtastic surprise!
Well guys the rules of the game are this.
A) Name 7 facts about yourself.
B) Name 7 members you wanna tag and know more about.
C) Remember to pmail so they can complete this game.
So guys...7 facts about oneself....
i) If I get told no when I want to jump up on people's laps I do a 360 degree turn and come back to the person and look at them again till I either get told no (usually I try for three/ four no's) or get told a yes. But I do the 360 turn for each no (I like to think its cute).
ii) If mum is kneeing when she's typing on the keyboard I'll lay on the back of her legs and go asleep.
iii) I dont like watermelon, mango, guava or coconut generally as a fruit but I love them as juices in my bowl.
iv) If someone is sitting on a seat I like to lie right under the seat (dining room chair usually) unless its the sofa then I prefer to be on your lap.
v) I hate...nope detest dressing up ~ I'll sit there like a statue and sulk until whatever garment is taken off.
vi) I got toilet trained in under four months. (Beats cinders she keeps relapsing)
vii) I couldnt do stairs till I was about 9/ 10 months old.
Hehehe I'm quite a daft mutt really!
OK...the dogster pups I really wanna see complete this...
1) Beach Girl Hattie (cos shes a hottie)
2) Bogie (Flippy has my paw in a pawlock ;-)
3) Brady (Winnie's in luv with him)
4) Isabella (shes just so doggy nice)
5) Cuddles (cos cindy really enjoyed playing with her)
6) Totos (for doing some cute piccies for Alfie)
7) Alex (the bestest looking bulldog ~ Cinders thinks hes cute).
I wish I could choose more ~ as there's so many cool doggies on here.
Cant wait to see your facts....licks and wags Quinn X

What a difference a week makes!
Last week we was sunbathing in temps in the seventies and now we are on our 3rd day of rain arghhhhhhhhhhh. Mum said that the news reported that we had 6 weeks of gorgeous sunshine and we need the rain for the plants. Woof! And she also said we prob wont be having our lil puppy swimming pool out unless we get some rain - every year we get water shortages growl!
But since we have been in a lot we have been watching our Queen on TV (without her corgis - hope they are getting they daily walks and treats;-)) And watching various images of Virginia - so as a correspondant of UK news I would like to share our news with you on how the southeast (gravesend) is reporting the news story of the Queen in the US. The technology is a lot younger than the Queens age (all 200 years of it;-))
http://www.bbc.co.uk/southeasttoday/latest_stories /index.shtml
If you scroll down you'll find the link for Virginia news video - English style.
Also we have been woofing along to the entry of ours in the eurovision - Winnie has been covering hers ears a lot as she thinks its so bad - but personally I find it quirky. If you have a sense of humour please check out the video dogsterians - promise ya you'll be woofing (laughing ) a lot hehehehe.
Take care pupsicles and woof to you later. Quinn X

Hello dogsters,
Sorry we havent been on much - mum has gone back to work and nanny hasnt been on the pc (shes not puter friendly hehehehe).
We couldnt believe what has happened to our cousins over in the US and we would like to say that our thoughts and prayers are with you at this horrible time.
Our local rag has also dedicated a few pages to this tragedy - but heres a link to the gravesend reporter website. We might be far away in persons and dogs but we are close by with our thoughts.
http://www.gravesendreporter.co.uk/content/kent /reporter/news/story.aspx?brand=GVSROnline&category=news&tBr and=northlondon24&tCategory=newsgvsr&itemid=WeED20%20Apr%202 007%2010%3A53%3A45%3A587
Gravesend's connection with the state goes back 400 years, to the voyagers who departed from the town to discover America's first settlement - Jamestown, Virginia.
In a letter to governor Kaine, Gravesham Mayor Harry Smith wrote: "We were all devastated to hear the news about the tragedy that has taken place.
"Each of you are in our thoughts, hearts and prayers, especially the families of the students that so mercilessly lost their young lives.
"Along with all the people of Gravesham, I send my deepest condolences and support."
We would like to say that our church services will be having prayers for our american cousins.

Hi Guys
All this week mum and us have been watching south east news (its one of kent BBC main news channel's) and everyday we have been greeted by sights of Jamestown Virginia!
It seems that way back in 1607 on May 14 Jamestown had a few english settlers come to its shores. And a few of those settlers was from a little town called Gravesend in Kent. Well mum never knew that some of the settlers where from her birth town (she was born in Gravesend hospital - just a couple minutes walk away from the buriel site of Pocahontas) and also that some of the photos she has taken of Gravesend could be of interest to anyone who is celebrating Jamestown 400. If anyone would like to have a chat to a Gravesendian person or dog just give us a woof and we would happily have a chin wag. Also if your celebrating the big Jamestown 400 and would like biggish piccies of gravesend and wanna swap email addy we would be happy to do so. (we live in a lil village just outside of gravesend)
Our council is supposed to be making a few celebrations over here and if and when we find out if it can be accessed on the web we will definitely be putting the web address on the web.
If you havent heard of the Jamestown story and would like to know more about you can find out the history of it on this web link heres the opening paragraph of the story....
Jamestown, located on Jamestown Island in the Virginia Colony, was founded on May 14, 1607. Jamestown is commonly regarded as the first permanent English settlement in what is now the United States, following many earlier failed attempts, notably including the ongoing mystery of the Lost Colony at Roanoke Island in what is now the state of North Carolina.

If you scroll down the page you'll see the british reporter who's done the exchange with the american reporter who we have loitering around our town!.
Mum has been trying to work out where he could be going next to get US tzus on TV BOL hehehehe But to no avail...anyway if you guys wanna see our lil town check out CBS 6 daily and think of us in little ole blighty!
Also if anyone is interested in their English roots, you might be interested to know that we celebrate St Georges Day on the 23rd of April - which is the Patron Saint of England.

Just for a laugh mum thought she would do 20 questions with me and put it on the web...hope you like;-)
1) So Quinn, you have had many nicknames in the past what is your favourite one?
Ruff! Hmmmm well it has to be Quinn as some of the names I've been called are unrepeatable hehehe
2) What would you say is your best and worst qualities?
One of the best qualities I think I've got is my friendliness I love ..love humans, animals, anything that has a heart and is willing to put up with my licking and playfulness. My worse quality is that I am toned deaf - I sing if I am being left out of anything i.e mum and dad are outside and I'm left indoors - oo doggy god how could they do that to me! Also I have selective hearing - if I see a gorgeous poodle on the other side of the park/ field etc I will go and greet her/ him (I dont care what sex they are hehehe) and no matter how much shouting is going on behind me I will ignore my name being called.
3) Do you like being dressed up in costumes?
Yes, I just prefer not to have photographic proof of me being dressed up;-) You never know - that incriminating photo might turn up in the future just before I become Prime Minister or something - Ouf!
4) What about having your photo taken in just your fur coat?
I do like this one more but I am beginning to get bored of facial shots. Also memo to Peta I do have my own fur coat - promise its all mine;-))
5) Are you a barker?
Ooooo matron noooooo - I hardly ever bark I sing more than anything (mum calls it high pitch whinging).
6) If you could choose a career for yourself what would you chose?
I would say a actor - preferably in lovey dovey films. I could've been the stand in for Tramp in the spaghetti bol part of the film *Lady and the Tramp*
7) Do you have any favourite programmes/ films?
Yes! I love Eastenders (esp when they have the hot gorgeous dogs strutting their stuff on the screen). Also I love doggy movies Turner and Hooch is my out and out favourite!
8) Have you got a favourite game you like to play?
Yeap! Lick chase, it's similar to kiss chase but you have to lick the other one as your running along.
9) Have you got a favourite pin up?
Paris Hilton's Tinkerbell springs to mind and Paul OGrady's Olga *foot thumping as Quinn's thinks about those girls!*.
10) Are you lazy or energetic?
Well, it depends mostly I prefer to snooze away on the sofa or floor. But if we have company I am the host with the most - I love to circulate and make sure everyone is catered for.
11) Have you got any bad habits?
Yes! I like to suck on soft toys - mum has taken numerous of them off of me but I keep finding more hehehehehe
12) Have you got any favourite food?
Yeap I love Prince's Tinned Tuna mum gives all of us this once every few months and it always has something hard in it - maybe a tablet?
I also love puff jerky, banana's, extra strong mints (mum resticts us on those) and cherry toms and sugar snap peas - they are sooooooooooo crunchy!
13) Favourite spot in the house and garden?
LOL we might live in the UK but I am always aware that a earthquake can come so I lie under chairs or tables. If mum is on her sun lounger I'm under it fast asleep. Same goes with dining rooms chairs - you can usuallly find me under them fast asleep. I also lie under washing if its on the clothes line. Other than that I do like to share these chairs as well with my kin.
14) Have you got a favourite season?
Yes! Summer all the way - lounging outside in the warmth pure doggy heaven.
15) Have you got a favourite toy?
I love balls - preferably squeaky ones or soft toys. My ultimate fav one for the last few months is a red rooster ball mum bought from Pets at Home (or petsmart hehehe they keep changing their names)
16) Have you got a favourite colour?
Blue or green but I haven't really got a preference.
17) Or you a early dog or a late dog?
Definite a early dog - mum gets us up every morning between 5.30am -6.30am. And usually take us out before she goes to work. Many a time by 8pm at night we are all asleep on our bedding or carpet.
18) Are you a chaser or a cant be bothered type of dog?
Definite a chaser - I like to have a good race around the garden after the lil un's or if I spy a rabbit etc on one of our walks I like to see if I can get to it before it hides away in its burrow etc. I never quite make it though hehehe
19) Do you dream?
Yeap! I dream I'm chasing bunnies and mum has told me numerous times that I bark during my sleep and my legs start twitching - it must be when I'm chasing those pesky wabbits!
20) Do you like dogster?
Hehehehe woof woof growl woof woof growl hehehehehe
Translated that means a resounding yes! Cos finally I have my own blog woof woof BOL!
Hope you enjoyed reading my 20 questions. I thought I would do something slightly quirky and interesting. If you fancy doing 20's questions feel free to use these questions (or make up some of your own) and please leave a message and we'll definitely have a gander at your page. Love and hugs peeps

Hi fellow dogterians just in case you havent seen it on the news. Today is the start of new laws concerning our pets.
1) To simplify legislation for animal keepers and enforcers by consolidating
into one Act previous legislation
2) To extend to companion animals welfare codes agreed by Parliament
3)To increase the effectiveness of law enforcement
4) To increase to 16 the minimum age at which a child might buy an animal
5) To prohibit an unaccompanied child under 16 receiving a pet as a prize. Remember receiving a fish from the circus when you was young? You wont be able to recieve one of those now.
6) To amend and strengthen current offences in relation to animal fighting
7) Except for specific exemptions to ban the mutilation of animals.
8) To enable preventive action to be taken before animal suffering occurs (RSPCA couldnt take the animal straightaway from its owners it had to give advice first etc).
9) To eliminate loopholes in the current system and strengthen penalties to deter persistent offenders. I read one case when a owner had 2 OES who both had been neglected one had matted fur etc. But the other one had cancer lumps the size of small balls on his legs (there was quite a few). The RSPCA got caught on a loophole and had to give back the OES to his owner as the law didnt govern them to seize the animal as the owner had no intention of getting medical help for the dog.
10) To extend the existing power to make secondary legislation to promote the welfare of non-farmed animals (see proposals for secondary legislation)
11) To place on people, who are responsible for domestic and companion animals, a duty requiring them to do all that is reasonable to ensure the welfare of their animals. (See duty of care)
http://www.focas-uk.info/
Most of the duty of care we all are doing anyway - it concerns making sure dogs have access to food/ water/ shelter veterinary care and also for them to display their typical behaviour. But there might be a few more laws being brought into force next year. On tail docking, pet fairs, petshops selling animals over the internet, animal sanctuaries and livery yards could all have new laws for next year.
Take a look at what laws could be implemented for next year as I think its very interesting on what could be brought into force.
Happy reading dogster;-) Love Quinn X

As mum works in a school it means that about 14 weeks of the year she takes us out and about visiting places of interest. Normally its places like Miss UK/ World (the dog pageant of course hehehe - I wish)
It's more along the lines of Portsmouth and Chatham dock yards (I'm a olde sea dog you see;-))
But today she took us to Gravesend promenade and we had a roaring time scooting around the barracks parts and also the band stand. It was great fun.
Mum has been taking piccies left right and centre though so expect her to be putting more up arghhhhh!!
Take care dogtanians and all the other musketeers:-)

Well, Friday was red nose day and mum took me and Flippy to work with her dressed up in a red costumes - the school she works at had done a red theme day.
Then she bought us some raffle tickets for some naff prizes (honestly that is what the raffle was called lol). And we didnt win anything - phew hehehe.
Then we went done our grandparents and gave (dads) granny some flowers - really strange that as today dad gave mum a card that we had put our paw prints on. We later found out that its Mothers Day.
So we would just like to BOL (bark out loud) to all the other mums around......
Happy Mothers Day! (mum said that if your from across the pond you wont be having yours till the middle of the year - may?). But we still wanna share this day with you:-).
Dad then took mum done to Sheerness and got another Shih Tzu! Luckily its only a statue of one - we'll put a piccie up of it later - after we have beaten it up and the like hehehehehe.
Take care peeps and we'll try and get online again very soon. X

So why are the Tzus wearing red noses?
Well.........
Red Nose Day is back and it's bigger than ever - it is The Big One. The Big One is here to get you up off your bum, involved, aware and raising cash to help poor and disadvantaged people across the UK and Africa turn their lives around. It's all about giving you great comedy and entertainment, and in return you giving me your time, energy, BIG ideas and money! (taken from http://www.myspace.com/rednoseday2007 ).
The first "Red Nose Day" was on 5 February 1988, and raised £15 million. The TV show was hosted by Lenny Henry, Griff Rhys Jones and Jonathan Ross. More than £300 million has so far been distributed to projects by Comic Relief (not sure what that is in dollars).
If you wanna put a red nose on your dog here's the link. http://noseify.rednoseday.com/
Or to find out more information. http://www.rednoseday.com/
Come and join in the fun - should be a day to remember.

Mum and me was surfing through the web and come across this story - seriously it has to be read to be believed!
Residents at a coastal community in Lyme Regis, Dorset, Dorchester County in England, have nicknamed two-year-old springer spaniel "Aquadog" because of her ability to swim underwater.
The dog's owner Rob Vaughan said, "She's just amazing. You can even see bubbles coming from her nose while she's under so she knows by instinct to breathe out but still holds her breath while she's under."
He said that every time his dog, Bella, goes for a swim, dozens of people gather to watch the dog go underwater.
Vaughn said the dog dives for stones on the riverbed and can stay below the surface for up to 15 seconds.
He told the Mirror newspaper, "If I don't throw a stone she dives under and swims along the bottom till she finds her own.

A man walked by a table in a hotel and noticed three men and a dog playing cards. The dog was playing with extraordinary performance.
"This is a very smart dog.", the man commented.

Mum was talking to Dad yesterday about the temperature - it hit about 57 fahrenheit in our local town centre and even where we live in the countryside it was in the fifties. What is so strange is that it doesnt feel like winter (winter solstice starts on the 22nd Dec) we haven't had a frost in ages (I think the start of the year) and Flip (she feels the cold more than anyone) hasnt done her usual *I'm freezing mum - I need my blankets now!!*.
Winnie, Alfie and Cindy think winter is easy - and have been laying on the ground outside (when it hasnt been raining that is). So we are all perplexed on whether we should have our winter double coat or get our sunglasses out and go sun bathing!! hehehehe
Mum has put a picture up that she took this morning at about 7.30am and it looks like it gonna be another gorgeous day! So hopefully she'll take me down town to see the salvation army singing in our local town centre. Yesterday she said it felt really christmassy (a shih tzu word :-)) as there was stalls aligned on the main high street selling all types of good including roast chestnuts (hmmm love chestnut hunting). Mulled wine (mum wont let us drink that) and other baked goods - totally dog heaven!

So a couple of days ago mum finished work and when she got in took us out on a walk. Nothing strange there - but I did the ultimate bobo. Mum has 4 usual walks for us that she rotates (its because we walk better on the lead).
So she take us through the woods to a gigantic open area must be at least a few acres big. Well she let us all off as she normally does and this is where I did a HUGE bobo.
While Flippy and the kids was playing and staying near mum - I spied bulls behind some trees (the animal kind;-)) Being I am a friendly type of guy I run straight through the trees and up to my new friends. Mum shouted my name but I carried on running.
So mum tied the kids up to Flippy and told her to stay exactly where she was and gingerly walked over to where I was. Me being me was oblivious to what I shouldve done proceeded to make friends with them. Bulls blowing through the noses is friendly isint it? (mum later on told me that was a big NO).
She got to within a couple of metres of where I was and called out my name again - this time I actually answered and come running over to her. She picked me up and walked slowly back to the kin. When we got home she told me she has put a ban on me being off lead for a couple of weeks (I'm not very good at recall at the best of times). So I'm now on probation - I think next time I will leave those bulls alone.

Mum was checking her email and called me over. Hmm, wonder what she wants? So up I jumped onto her lap and she showed me a star!!
Wahey!! Clicking on the piccie of Ms Monroe - my tail started wagging again and I tried to clamber onto the keyboard (my lil heart was thumping like there was no tomorrow!!).
Well, that has certainly made my night. I'm now going to retire onto the sofa to dream sweet dreams.................................

Mum, had this bright idea of putting up a couple of videos/ pictures of me when I first arrived. O' dear lord I knew she would get the puppy pictures out sooner or later (me was hoping for later:-))
The video of me attacking Flip Flop's leg was a few hours after our initial meeting of one another. From there I realised to really bug her to either bite the backs of her legs or go for the tail - total annoyance with minimum effect!
I Love being me;-))))))

We love this time of year, ever since Flip Flop and me was pups mum takes us out in the garden to hear/ see the fireworks and watch the bonfire in the field across the road. She said it was to customise us to the sounds and smells etc but we love it more so for the treats she gives us.
Flip Flop has become so used to it now that she falls asleep on the bench in the garden but me - I look into the sky and watch all the pretty lights illuminate the sky. We even watch a mannequin being set alight on the bonfire.. hmm not quite sure what that is all over.
I love food we receive on this night though...hmmm baked potatoes cooked by the bonfire - simply delicious:-D

Mum has finally conceded!! It has taken all of us (past dogs to us) making our room mucky. That after a few years of decorating our doggy room twice a year she has finally given up on painting it light colours. Blah - looked too sissy for us anyway.
She has resorted to painting it a chelsea shade of blue which goes very well with the white/ brown (paw prints) skirting boards etc. Hmmm I wonder how long it will take me and the gang to put our marks on that wall...hehehehe
Ooops looks like I've put my doggy paw signature on the walls already - hehehehe

Mum, took us down to see our human grandparents yesterday. Which I love to do as I see my much older girlfriend (shes 17 years and a Lassie cross - absolutely gorgeous!!). After I did my usual sniffing around, chasing the resident fox (she lives in the woods next door to the house). And scrounge my way though out their house (hey has to be treats somewhere!:-)) I come home exhausted and fell asleep.....until my other grandparent work me up (I love humans - they always give me treats). Hmmm.....I think its time for another snooze ...ZZzzzzzzzz

As mum has a week off of work she has been doing a belated spring clean (paw prints on the floor and skirting boards I think looks good;-)) So while she was cleaning I thought I would help her and move the rugs in the living room to a better location (ie the doggy room). While I got the first one in the doggy room - I got caught pulling along the 2nd rug. *Quinn* oops did I hear someone shout my name as I carried on pulling the rug....*Romeo - No* ...nope mum cant be shouting at me as I proceeded to move the rug. *ratboy!!!* ooo thats definitely aimed at me as I dropped the rug and sat tail wagging at her. She cant be bothered though - as she came over to me laughing and patted me on the head. Picking up both the rugs she put them back in the living room. Hmmm...me-thinks she wants to carry on playing this game ......
