I was not yet a year old, when I gave birth to six beautiful puppy girls. I guess that made someone angry, 'cause they took my newborn puppies and me and tossed us in a field to fend for ourselves or die. We must have lived in the field for a little while, as I was totally emaciated when the Humane Society of Fresno found us. I was a good momma, they said I came right to them and showed them where my girls were. We spent a few days in the pound and were ready to be euthanaized, when a nice lady named, Tanya, found us and transported us to Southern California to her rescue T.A.N.Y.A, Inc. She was a vet tech and knew how to care for a mama and pups. She kept me on intravenous feeding for 6 weeks until I could wean my pups. My girls were cute, fat, fluffy and healthy and were quickly adopted when they turned 8 weeks. Tanya put my photo on Petfinder and hoped for the best. It wasn't the most flattering picture; I was very skinny with full mammary glands. I was worried that no one would ever love me.
Late one night this lady, who I didn't even know, was "just looking" on Petfinder. She saw my winsome face and ignored the rest. She woke up this man, who I didn't even know, and said, "look at this dog"! The man said, “we will go look at her this weekend”. So the lady called Tanya, and said, "we want to meet Star" (that was my rescue name). They drove 100 miles out into the desert over dirt roads to places they didn't even know existed. Tanya got me out of my crate, where I was still recovering from my life in the field ,and raising pups. I was still very skinny and still had those big mama glands, but the man and the lady fell in love with me at first sight. They paid the fee, right then and there, so no one else could take me. I had to stay one more week and get "fixed", I guess I was sorta broken. The next weekend they drove the 100 miles again to bring me home. I slept in Mom's lap all the way home.
The first few weeks were hard, I had worms, Guardia, kennel cough, bronchitis that turned into pneumonia. With love, a healthy diet and a very good vet, I overcame all these problems. I still have a sensitive tummy, I eat only Rx food and have to refuse most treats or bad things happen in my intestinal track. (Actually I would eat anything, but Mom is the guardian of my tummy, and she refuses most treats on my behalf. Grrrrr. I was 14 pounds when they picked me up. I am now a healthy 28 lbs.
I live the life of an only princess with a king and queen who love me more than they can say. I sleep burrowed under the covers between them. Mom walks me everyday or takes me to the dog park. Daddy plays with me every night, and kisses me in the morning. He also loves to teach me tricks. I will do anything for him. I am the happiest dog in the world.
I get to play with my two beagle cousins (who were rescued from a medical laboratory) a couple of times a week. I really love my two widdle grandminipeeps and they love me. Life is good, except for the treat thang. I wish every pup that had a rough start in life could have my happy ever after.
I want everyone who reads this to know, that no matter how terrible a dog may look on Petfinder, or in a shelter, it is possible that dog is the most wonderful dog in the world, once they are healthy and have a happy home. Give us rescues a chance to be your happy dog, please!

Hiya pals...I've been tagged by Mike of Snoop Dogs.
Rules are this:
I have to pick and list 10 fellow members and say a nice thing about them and about the pup who tagged me. I then send pmail or rosettes to the 10 pups I picked.
1. Mike was the first King of the Snoops and he set the standard for all kings to follow. We still look to Mike for leadership and courage. He is kind to all and is very much appreciated by all of Snoopdom.
2. Jack is my guy. He is smart and is a man of few words. I guess you could say, he is the strong silent type. Jack is helpful to everypup. He is generous with his time and his extraordinary skills especially with photos and page decor. He was a very hard working, kind and intelligent king and I am so proud to have served by his side. He is also very handsome, I would say the handsomest pup in all snoopdom.
3. Kiss is a very compassionate pup, who helps children and other pups. She is also as sweet as a pup can be. She is so generous in sharing herself and telling us about her country. I am so proud to be her friend. I am so happy to see her whenever she posts.
4. Sweet and adorable little Marley. Every time he pops up on a thread, we have to go look at his page to see if he has gotten any cuter, if that is possible. He was one of the pups mom looked at when she was sick and who made her feel better by putting a smile on her face. Love you Marley.
5. Another of those pups was Digger. What an adorable puppy he is. I hope he is able to post more, because he sure makes us happy to see him.
6. Peanut Beaglesworth, my after-hours companion. He is a excellent sailor and a good conversationalist. I am so happy to see him when he shows up at night. He is a delight and an interesting guy.
7. Petey is an energetic and enthusiastic pup. He is so much fun to watch grow up. I am so very happy he is a Snoop.
8. Fred is my dancing, singing soul mate. He and my Mom share an excitement about the Broadway stage and its performers. I love Fred's enthusiasm and how gives us time when his Mom is so busy.
9. Buddy Todd is a warm, kind and adventurous pup who I am proud to know. He opens his home to other pups who are not as fortunate as he and even shares his pawrents, which must be very hard to do. He also extends kindness to all Snoops.
10. Buddy or Just Buddy. There is nothing Just about this Buddy. He is my So Cal pal and a good friend to all Snoops. We are so lucky that he trotted into Snoops and became such a big part of our group and it is so great to see him when ever he posts.
