We can get to know our pals better!! Have fun!!

Here we GO!!

1. What color is your collar?
Right now, it’s brown, blue (cornflower blue) and white. This can change next week or next month because my mom’s always changing my collar.

2. What kind of food do you eat?
I have major food allergies, so the only food I can eat right now other than some of the prescription brands is Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream Canine Formula with Smoked Salmon.

3. What are your favorite treats?
That’s a tough one, but I’ll say Wellness Pure Rewards (Beef, Venison and Venison & Salmon)

4. Do you have a Valentine or significant other??
I’m with Riley …. ewww boy germs?! I think not.

5. Do you get Table Scraps?
Unfortunately, no!

6. What is your favorite toy?
Another tough one, but there’s this orange squeaky ball --- the size of a tennis ball --- that I love to play with.

7. When is your Birthday?...
Since I’m a rescue, they had to guess. My vet picked March 26th. I’ll be 4 years-old!!

8. How many times a day do you get to eat?
Twice

9. Do you have a favorite color?
Red

10. Do you hope all your pals put this in their diary? I SURE DO!!!!

Pass The Football

Alright My Wonderful Pup Pal! You made it here. I see you caught my football pass. Here is what you should do next! Hurry and pass the ball to 5 of your teammates so they can make a touchdown. You are also supposed to write down 5 things about yourself that are funny. Also please leave me a bone and ask all those who visit your diary to leave you a bone so you will know they have been there! Ok…Here goes the play!

1. I get the zoomies every night between 9:30pm and 10:30pm – I start running back and forth upstairs and sometimes up and down the stairs.

2. In the morning, I won’t come downstairs until I hear my mom start to put on her sneakers or when I hear her grab my collar and leash off the hook.

3. I will pull and tug at the pillow in the middle of my bed for 2 minutes trying to get it just right. If I can’t, I’ll stop, get off the bed and either get on the couch or jump on my mom’s bed … depending on where I am.

4. I’ll take all the toys out of my toy chest until I find the right one (my mom wants to teach me how to put them back because sometimes I make a mess).

5. I’ll drop my tennis ball on the hill in my backyard so it will roll into a hole I’ve already started digging. I do this so when it falls into the hole, I can start digging some more making my mom think I’m trying to get the ball out of the hole.

I am passing to:
1. Jena
2. Yukiko
3. Jamoncito
4. Mulligan
5. Hooch

SLEEPING WITH YOUR DOG!

November 14th 2008 11:04 am

Here’s another great article my mom wanted me to share with all of you from Pet Lovers Tips – For the Love of Dog … Can any of your pawrent(s) relate? ... BOL!

Whoever said “LET SLEEPING DOGS LIE” didn’t sleep with dogs.

The first thing you discover when you bring a dog onto your bed is the striking difference in weight between an alert, awake dog and a dog at rest.

Rule Number One: The deeper the sleep the heavier the dog.

Most people who sleep with dogs develop spinal deformities rather than rent the heavy equipment necessary to move their snoring canines to a more appropriate part of the bed. Cunning canines steal precious space in tiny increments until they have achieved the center position on the bed - with all covers carefully tucked under them for safekeeping. The stretch and roll method is very effective in gaining territory. Less subtle tactics are sometimes preferred. A jealous dog can worm his way between a sleeping couple and, with the proper spring action from all four legs, shove a sleeping human to the floor.

Rule Number Two: Dogs possess superhuman strength while on a bed.

As you cling to the edge of the bed, wishing you had covers, your sweet pup begins to snore at a volume you would not have thought possible. Once that quiets down, the dog dreams begin. Yipping, growling, running, kicking. Your bed becomes a battlefield and playground of canine fantasy. It starts out with a bit of “sleep running”, lots of eye movement and then, suddenly, a shrieking howl blasted through the night like a banshee wail. The horror of this wake-up call haunts you for years. It’s particularly devastating when your pup insists on sleeping curled around your head like a demented Daniel Boone cap.

Rule Number Three: The deeper the sleep, the louder the dog.

The night creeps on and you fall asleep in the 3 inches of bed not claimed by a dog. The dog dreams quiet slightly and the heap of dog flesh sleeps - breathing heavily and passing wind. Then, too soon, it’s dawn and the heap stirs. Each dog has a distinctive and unpleasant method of waking the pack. One may position itself centimeters from a face and stare until you wake. The clever dog obtains excellent results by simply sneezing on your face, or they could romp all over your sleeping bodies - or the ever-loving insertion of a tongue in an unsuspecting ear.

Rule Number Four: When the dog wakes - you wake.

So, why do we put up with this? There’s no sane reason. Perhaps it’s just that we’re a pack and a pack heaps together at night - safe, contented, heavy and loud.

I WAS TAGGED!!!

I was "tagged" by Riley’s handsome little brother, Logan … He says I have to list 7 things about myself and post it in my diary and then tag 7 more pals to do the same.

The object of this game of tag is to learn some more things about your friends. You are supposed to list 7 things about yourself and post it in your diary. Then pick 7 friends to pass it on to and have them do the same thing.

Here are my 7 things.....
1. I have selective hearing.... I hear what I want to hear when I want to hear it! BOL

2. My former owner(s) in New Orleans handed me off to a volunteer in an Atlanta Animal Rescue vehicle after Hurricane Katrina hit. They couldn’t take me with them.

3. I am currently an only dog-child --- my mom wants to change that.

4. I DO NOT like baths. My former groomer called me a poster child for grooming --- it seems she was unaware that I was scared to death, which is why there wasn’t much movement – if any at all.

5. Since I’m pretty mellow, I’d rather not have to deal with a hyper dog --- especially a small hyper dog.

6. I get the “zoomies” around 10pm almost every day.

7. I LOVE BELLY RUBS!!!!!!

I am tagging the following 7 pups...
1. Theodore… Handsome Yorkie who belongs to the Supervisor at my vet’s office.

2. Jazz-Marie… One of my early pup pals on Dogster

3. Yukiko… Another Diva!

4. Mulligan… My pup pal who’s dealing with allergies just like me!

5. Hooch… My neighbor!

6. Charlie Bear… We met at the dog park, but I haven’t been in a very long time!

7. Jamoncito… Horatio’s (R.IP.) handsome brother!

THINGS WE TEACH HUMANS ABOUT LOVE!

My mom received the article below in her email today from Pet Lovers Tips: For the Love of Dog and asked me to post it in my diary. She also wanted me to tell you that she’s currently reading a very good book entitled, Lessons From a Girl’s Best Friend: What my Dogs Taught me About Life, Love and God by Michelle McKinney Hammond. Go check it out!

Here’s the article from Pet Lovers Tips --- “Things Our Dogs Teach Us About Love”

Our dogs love totally, completely and unconditionally. Not only that, there are many lessons we can learn from our wonderful canine companions about love and about life. Here’s just a few…

- Love comes with responsibility. Love takes time and effort. When someone loves you and counts on you, you have to be there to do your part. Sometimes this means putting their needs ahead of your own.

- Play is important. Love is fun. Love is great. Sure, there’s responsibility, but part of that responsibility is to play, play, play and enjoy each other’s company.

- Poop happens. Yep, sometimes some not-very-sweet stuff ends up where you wish it hadn’t, but that’s okay. It’s just part of the whole package. Clean it up and get back to the good stuff. Learn to forgive and forget.

- Don’t take love for granted. Surprises and little gifts for no reason other than to show love is good.

- It’s important to spend time together. You don’t always have to be doing something special. Sometimes it’s just really nice to sit in the same room and do nothing together. There can be a lot of comfort in that.

- Accept each other. Neither of you are perfect. Take the good with the bad, the odd with the commonplace. Love is bigger than the small stuff that gets under your skin.

- Trust and honor love. Don’t ever, ever abuse it. Love is the greatest gift you’ll ever have, and it’s downright criminal to ever do anything wrong or cruel in the name of love.

- Respect each other’s boundaries. You both need your own space. You both have your own needs. Neither of you should try to dominate the other.

- Good relationships take work. Once you take on the responsibility of a relationship, you have to be willing to work at it. Sometimes there’s nothing you’d like to do more than kick back and take it easy, but you’ve committed to (for example) going on a walk. Get up and go. It’ll be well worth the effort.

- Non-verbal communication can speak louder than words.

- Touch, hug, smile, speak softly.

- Separations are tough… but reunions are sweet.

- Everyone wants and needs love.

- Deal with problems when they come up. They won’t just go away, and problems sure can make love tough.

- Sloppy kisses are great. (Enough said about that one.)

My mom was in the grocery store this afternoon and saw they were carrying DOGSTERS HEALTHY TREATS again. They’re like Frosty Paws, but cheaper and they have more flavors. She was very happy to see I wasn’t allergic to any of the ingredients. I’m looking forward to eating one at snack time tonight! Woof! Woof! Woof!!!

My New Cousin

I have a new cousin named, Sasha. She is a Doberman puppy with a LOT of energy – when she’s awake ... BOL. I think she has tail envy because she had hers docked and she likes to bite mine. I tolerate her because she’s just a puppy. My mom is always telling me I’m being a good cousin. She’s a cute little thing with her long legs and big paws. We all spent a lot of time together yesterday and now today. My mom is pet sitting because Sasha’s pawrents went out of town and her teenage human brother is hanging out with friends skateboarding and stuff. This is a new experience for my mom, too, because she isn’t used to puppies. When I adopted her, I was about one and one half years old. I’m sure there will be more Sasha and me stories as she gets older and we spend more time together. Look for pictures of us on my page.

Petitions to Sign!!!

My mom just signed the petition "Justice for Husky Dogs Shot in Orange County Florida". I'm asking you to sign this petition as well. They have already reached their goal of 1,000 signatures, but more are always needed. Because my mom is a lover of animals, she cares deeply about this issue. She can also relate to this in a way because she is aware that someone might want to harm me just because of the way I look, not because of anything I’ve done. She and I hope you will support their efforts – visit this site and sign the petition: Justice for Husky Dogs Shot in Orange County Florida

My mom signed another petition a while ago, but they are still fighting this in court and they are still trying to reach their goal of 10,000 signatures. Please support their efforts as well --- visit this site and sign the petition: Justice 4 Gage-Pitbull Shot and Killed by Neighbor

You can make a difference!!!
