We Went on Vacation !!!!!

Shhhhh, don’t tell Daddy. Mom said she was taking him on a surprise date for Father’s Day. Truth be told, WE were taking daddy on the date! We all piled into the car and drove over four hours to Vermont, to Dog Mountain, to see the Dog Chapel!!!

It was so much fun; we stayed in a hotel, and the nice lady took our picture to put on the hotel’s Facebook page. We played in the really big yard they had, and slept in the room with mom and dad.

The next day, we went to see Dog Mountain. It was Heaven on Earth!!! We got to run around with no leashes (no dogs have to wear their leashes there). They had an agility course, an art gallery, a pond, hiking trails, the works. And….a Chapel. You have to see it to believe it. We were allowed to go in the pond soaking wet, and then go in the chapel, the gallery – wherever we wanted to go.

Our friend Kodi drove two and a half hours to meet us. Well, actually Kodi, didn’t drive, his mom Deb, did. We had a great time together. Check out Dog Mountain at http://www.dogmt.com/index.php

Christmas Blessings

It's a few days before Christmas.....and we wanted to extend blessings for health and happiness in the New Year to all our pup friends and their families.

We pray for peace in the world; shelter for all living creatures, both human and fur......hugs, kisses, love, attention, affection, and of course a full bowl of Kibble.

We cry for the children and the adults who are homeless, and for the fur babies who are as well. We are sorry for their loneliness and isolation. We are deeply saddened when we see people sleeping in the streets; and when we see a dog tied to a line all day; or in a kennel staring at its house, hoping its owners will come and play. And for kitties who are feral and must hunt and live outside all winter.

But for all the sadness, we are so happy for the people who give generously of their time, effort and money to help the homeless people, the abandoned dogs, and the feral kitties. For them, we are grateful.

Peace and blessings to all of you in the coming New Year.

Our hearts are with you,
Riley, Skye and Quinn (and Mommy too)

Second Dog-

Sometimes I look for traits in you
Of a little [gentle] dog you never knew.
A dog who loved me all his days
and understood in special ways.
But that's not fair to you, my elf,
You're not a substitute, but are yourself.
You've dried the tears and eased the pain
And tugged my laughter home again.
Yet, at times, puppy, I almost start
When your eyes recall him to my heart.
You'll never lack for love, it's clear --
Because of him, you're twice as dear.

September 11th

I would like to take this opportunity to send prayers and thoughts to all who lost someone on September 11th, 2001, and to all who did what they could to help at a time when everything seemed hopeless. And in fact, it was. And we'd like to thank all the dogs who risked, and lost, their lives to help find our humans in the tragedy of September 11th. Dogs came from near and far......they worked relentlessly through the mess. They died; they becamed fatigued; and they became frustrated in trying to find what they were taught to do....find bodies that were alive. Some became sick from breathing in the fumes. Some died that day....thank you all loving dogs that helped in the search and rescue. All gave some.....and some gave all.

Thank you. God Bless America.

xxxYour pup pal Quinn

Mom and dad took us for a ride yesterday. We helped
to transport a couple of pups for a rescue group and THEN
- we went to Grandma and Grandpa's lakehouse! I had the
BEST time of my life. I went swimming from the little
"beach" area. Then mom taught us to jump off the dock
and get our tennis balls (ok, a very teeny weeny push
helped give us the idea). Once we knew how to jump in,
we loved it!

And then. The BEST surprise of all! I went in a boat!
It was so fun......I never did that before. Mom and Dad,
Grandma and Grandpa and my Aunt Maggie
(and Skye of course!) all went for a ride.

I was the First Mate. I don't know what that means, but mommy said I did a great job at it!

A Day in the Life of Quinn

I think I have been doing remarkably well! I haven't chewed much of anything in several weeks (ok, so I've been crated and mom/dad watch me like a hawk). But I think I've calmed down a bit. I'm starting to get the hang of the "schedule". Mom and Dad leave, but they leave me w/marrow bones stuffed with treats. Tracy comes (she's the pet sitter). And every other week, I go to Doggie Day Care. I do have The Life of Riley, and I love everything - Skye, my treats, bones, tennis balls, etc. I love Mom and Dad, and I actually give them kisses (when I feel like it). But they kiss me all the time! I'm a happy pup!

Just when we thought the entire Kong had been "released" from my body....I threw up two more pieces. Off to the doctors we went. They decided to do a barium x-ray. I had SEVEN x-rays. The doctor and all of his staff, said they never such saw a good doggie :-)

I laid very nicely for the x-rays and they didn't have to give me any tranquilizer pills. I was exhausted at the end of the day, though. The doctor said he could see "stuff" in my stomach but couldn't identify what it was. He thinks it will all be pushed out with the barium though. He also said my stomach was "thickened" which scared Mom, but he said it's probably irritated from all the junk I eat!

Me and My Crate

Well, as many of you know, (because you helped us with information on the Forums), I ate a Kong two weeks ago. Yes, I ate the whole thing. You all helped me with advice. Everyone was concerned (rightly so!), including mommy and daddy. (Mom did poop patrol yesterday and can attest to the fact that it all passed!).

So now, I have a crate - and you know what? I actually enjoy it. I go in sometimes even when I don't have to. And today, there was a worker guy at the house - and mom told me to go in my crate. Skye ran right in with me! Mommy was surprised; we were both in there and laid right down.

Maybe some day, I won't chew everything in sight and I can go in the crate only when I want to!
