Hello Everybody!

Guess what? I've been tagged again by my pawsome pal, Shiloh. This tag is a little different, so I think we'll all have fun with it.

Everyone who gets tagged tells three things they've done to help dogs, or any furbaby. You list them in your diary, then tag seven friends and tell them to go to your diary to see how it's played.

Well, here goes mine!

1) My mommy loves animals so much! She even changed careers after adopting my brother Crackers! She was working as a bookkeeper in college to be a CPA and quit it all - she is now a certified groomer with her own salon and teaches grooming too! Since mom has the salon she participates in all fundraising and awareness events for animal charities. We always go and walk in Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control's Walk for Animals, we donate merchandise and attend the fundraising auction for the Whitley County Humane Society in Columbia City, and we have participated in any area event we can find that helps us critters!

2) Mommy has brought home several doggies from various situations. My sister Angel was a stray someone brought in to her salon and I was owned by a client who did not want me anymore - after having me for 10 years! Can you believe it - someone not wanting a Maltese?

3) Mom has helped find homes for other people who come in to the shop that do not want their animals any more. Bella (a Maltese) is now owned by a groomer at mom's shop - actually I guess Bella owns her new mom :)

1. I am very protective of mommy now, I even growl at daddy of he acts like he is going to hit her (playing).

Sorry for taking so long to post anything, Mom has been real busy and it's hard to type with no thumbs :)

They had some medicine made specially for me and it helped! My bile was wierd or something and it fixed it! My liver and kidneys and stuff are better too!

So good in fact that I finally had my teeth cleaned yesterday. I lost seven (but also got rid of all the owies in my mouth) and now I have better breath too so I can give mommy and daddy more kisses.

THANK YOU to all of you who said a little prayer for me. I think I'm all better now and ready to enjoy my new life!

It's gotta get better, right?

Looks like my numbers have gone from bad to worse. Mommy put me on the special Prescription Diet to help lower my numbers and it apparently has not helped. Mommy took me in for repeat bloodwork on Wednesday and we got the results on Friday. The numbers that were over 500 are now 1000+, the numbers that were over 300 are now 500+. Dr. McKaig at New Haven Pet Hospital is going to do an UltraSound on me on Monday to see what they can find out about my kidneys and liver and stuff. Maybe they can figure it out and fix me. I sure hope so cause Mommy seems so sad now. If only my old Mommy had taken better care of me..... If any of my new pals have time, please say a little prayer for me. Love, Gweni

More Obstacles :(

Well, Mom took me last Friday to have my teeth cleaned. They are in pretty bad condition. The vet ran tests on me before the surgery and discovered that I had too much fat in my blood for him to accurately test. So the teeth cleaning had to wait. They sent the blood work out and found out that I have problems with my kidneys, problems with my liver, high cholesterol, my triglicerides (or something like that) are way too high. So they had mom put me on a special food - Prescription Diet l/d. I guess I have to eat this for about 3 weeks and then have the blood work repeated. Hopefully we can then proceed with the teeth cleaning as I love to give lots of kisses :)

It is truly amazing how much can go wrong with a little girl without proper veterinary care. I guess the vet told mommy that a lot of this was probably caused by periodontal disease. So if my teeth had been cleaned on a regular basis none of this might have happened. Oh well, I know mommy will do whatever it takes to make me as good as I can possible be.

One Week Down

Well, today is one week that I have been in my new home and I sure act like I'm loving it! I must not have gotten much attention before because I love to please my new mom and dad and wag all the time!

I finished up my antibiotics for my throat infection this morning - yay! Mom called the vet and he said that I will get my second set of shots next week. He said we will wait until after that to start me on antibiotics I need prior to my dental care. I can't wait! I love to give kisses now (don't think I was allowed to before) but I have stinky breath. Not for much longer!

Mom bought me my first outfit today. It's a little blue butterfly shirt/jumper. She tried it on me and it's a perfect fit, I didn't even seem to mind! Mom said that she will try to get a picture of me in it this weekend to put on my page. I feel so special now! I think I'm gonna like living here :)

Day 4 of my new life :)

Kind of getting used to this now. I wake up in the morning and mom picks me up off the bed and puts me down on the floor - no way could I jump - and I go out to go potty. I have found my voice now - if mom takes too long to come back to let us in I start barking. I get braunschweiger now with my pill in it as I was spitting it out of the cheese. I still absolutely refuse to eat dry dog food. Mom has tried just about everything - mixing it with canned food, I ate the canned and spit the dry out - soaking it in chicken broth, licked the broth but ate none of the food. Mom thinks part of it might be that my teeth are sore, but I eat french fries just fine, hmmm...

Went to work again with mom today, I am really liking all the attention I am getting - everybody thinks I am so cute, but I'm not used to it. I'm still head shy and unsure, but I'm coming around. I think I'm going to like this new home and life! Time will tell the tale.....

A new mom, home, life...

Not real sure what is going on today. Mom took me to the groomer's like she has done before, but she never came back. Little did I know that she had decided she could no longer keep me.

The lady who has been grooming me gave me a flea bath (just in case) and a cute haircut. Then after hanging out at the grooming salon all day we went for a ride in her truck. We went to see a vet - could not remember what a vet was - have not been to see one in a few years. He gave me a heartworm test - negative thank god - and my first set of shots. I guess they have to treat me like a puppy since it has been so long since I have had medical care. After examining me he determined a few things. I have patella luxation in both back knees - but, said that since it does not seem to bother me and I am as old as I am we do not have to address it right now - yay! I also have some kind of scoliosis thing going on with my eyes, but I guess it is not treatable. My teeth are in HORRIBLE condition! They are so bad in fact, that I have a throat infection that has to be treated with antibiotics before any dental work can be done. So I'm on an antibiotic for my throat infection.

Just got home (I guess it's home now) and met my 5 sisters and brother. Not real sure about all this yet, but I seem pretty happy - I'm still wagging!
