Arrival Story:
Calpurnia lived with Turbo before he came to live with us. After he left, she was very sad. So she came to be reunited with her love, be his seeing-eye dog, and lead my team.

Bio:
Calpurnia is an incredibly intellegent dog, and is a wonderful leader. In her prime, she was also amazingly fast (TROTTING faster than the others are loping). She has really grown on us, and even though she is a snot, we love her attitude and strange behaviors. Most importantly, both she and Turbo are happy because they still have eachother. She even cleans his ears! In the fall of 2005, she jumped wrong while excited to go for a walk and broke her rear femur. The vets were able to patch her together with pins and plates, but were doubtful as to how well she would be able to run again. Well, after a year off and lots of therapy, she is once again on the team doing what she loves. She is a bit slower, but she is mended. Now (2007) Cali is fighting a battle with cancer. She had a tumor on her right front leg and had to have it removed in September. We are hoping that she is able to recover and be her graceful self with 3 legs and that we got all the cancer so she won't have further problems.

Sunday (Sept 14th) I celebrated my 1-year post-op of being a 3-legged dog. We met up with Jerry from the tripawds website and did a training run so I could show his people how well I am doing.

I also got a clean bill of health from the vet that I am doing really well for a senior gal.

Bring on the snow, I say!

A new sled just for ME!

Well, I have been doing really well since becoming a 3-legger. Now that we have snow on the ground, mom got me a special suprise - a sled just for me!! She had a friend build a modified Norwegian style kicksled (typically used without dogs) so that I can pull it along with her. It is a lot of fun, and I feel great that I am back at "work". When the team goes out on training runs, I get to cruise around with my little sled!
