Visiting with Boss either on my stakeout or on free runs in the exercise yard.
When Boss goes past my stakeout and doesn't stop to visit.
Our communal collection of old bones.
I would really like a piece of that raw bunny that Lizzy gets!
The exercise yard, of course; but I wish Boss would take me somewhere on walks of my own.
Born a SEPPALA SIBERIAN SLEDDOG (not a Siberian Husky at all) at Seppala Kennels! Darka's one-quarter Russian import and the rest Markovo-Seppala all the way back to Leonhard Seppala's dogs. This was the first litter of grandpuppies of Shakal iz Solovyev our guy from Siberia. Darka's main ambition is to become a Girlfriend and live in the shack with Boss; and her other ambition is to have a litter of Big Hair puppies with Orlov!
Darka and her three sisters were sired by one of Shakal's sons, Zaki of Seppala, out of Lizzy's littermate sister Lara of Seppala. She gets her face and her intense expression from Lara. In 2005 we had two back-to-back litters (C and D litter) of females, who became known as The Nine; Darka was the only long-coat of that bunch. She's smart enough to become a leader, and if she's anything like as good a mother as her own mother Lara and grandmother Kolyma, she'll have a big contribution to make to the Seppala Siberian Sleddog Project. She's a friendly, level-headed gal . . . hmm, maybe Girlfriend material.
I AM -- I'm a Girlfriend!!!

My bad! I haven't wrote in my old diary here for a couple of YEARS! And my, hasn't some stuff happened, too.
The biggest thing was sort of my coup, my triumph, what I pulled over on the People. I've been best friends with Duke, my Boss' big red long-coated Chinook, ever since we call came to Manitoba. And one night when I was in H-E-A-T (but I didn't let on I was), Missy put us both out in the exercise yard, and I sez to Dukie, "Hey, handsome, you and me boy, it was meant to be!" And he sez, "Yeah, right, Darks!" Of course I yelled blue murder -- after I was sure it was too late for the People to do anything about it. Boss wasn't too happy with us.
Two months later I had five BEAUTIFUL puppies -- and I wouldn't let Boss help at all. I just told him to keep reading his book and let me tend to my own affairs. So Dukie and I started a New Breed and we call it The Seppinooks!!! And even Boss admits they are the most stunning dogs he ever saw. He better hurry up and get my kids on Dogster, too. They are New Age Superdogs. :D

And I was, I was, I was a GREAT mother! I had Cocu's puppies, and I raised 'em big and fat and fine, and I showed the Boss just how good I was. SO good that he took me with him to Rossburn with just a few others; my kids and my sisters are still in the Yukon -- I hope they'll make it down here this summer.
So "Girlfriend material"? You betcha! I've been in the HOUSE all winter, and I get to sleep on the BED lots of nights, and I wake Bossie up in the morning. It hasn't all been easy, because Chena (she needs to get on Dogster, too) came to Rossburn with her new litter of little puppies, and she was SO hungry nursing them that she fought me over some food, and I got a big scar over my eye where she tried to eat my head. I call her "the Headhunter" now. And a couple of times I got jumped by old "Moosehead" Mustang the crabby old Chinook queen-bitch that belongs to my Boss' new wifie -- Mussy-Moose grabbed me by the throat when I wasn't expecting it.
But it's all worth it! Every one of us Seppalas wants to be a house dog, that's the ultimate, even better than being a lead dog. So I made it to the big time, and I'm SO happy. I sit up on my haunches in the rocky chair in the living room and play patty-paws with Boss, and I watch Chena's puppies out of the big picture window, and I play with my little friend Detta the Chinook puppy that Missy gave to Boss. Life is great...
