Likes:
Sleeping! Kota sleeps twenty-one hours out of the day!

Pet-Peeves:
Waking him up, moving him when he's sleeping, breathing around him when he's sleeping, and generally making any sort of noise around him when he is sleeping.

Favorite Toy:
His little Nemo fish. He doesn't really play with toys at all, but for some reason or another, Kota loves his tiny, little Nemo fishie!

Favorite Food:
Broccoli, bananas, strawberries, kibble, and DentaStix!

Favorite Walk:
Around the neighbourhood. Kota loves to walk anywhere as long as he has ample time to sniff!

Best Tricks:
He can sit, stay, give his paw, and lie down - that's all! When I adopted him from the OSPCA, he didn't know how to do anything, but now he understands his basic commands!

Arrival Story:
I adopted him from a local OSPCA branch. I was moving away from home to attend college, and really wanted a dog. I saw him on the Orangeville SPCA website, and thought, "Meh, I guess I'll go see him", not expecting to want him, as I had heard bad things about beagles and separation anxiety. I saw him, and knew he was my dog. He just sat in his kennel, wagging his tail, smiling at me. I have had him for almost three years now, and he couldn't be loved more!

Bio:
At the animal shelter where I adopted Kota, the people were unsure of his exact age, so we assume he is now around ten years old. He had been in and out of shelters most of his life, probably because he can be grabby with "people food" sometimes - he thinks he is entitled!

I Will Love You Always, Beautiful Beagle

Today I had to put Kota to sleep. He had been in liver failure for some time now, CHF for several years, and finally, kidney failure took over. I have been so incredibly lucky to have Dakota as my dog - he has been the best friend any girl could ask for, and I will miss him every day. Last November it looked like he was going to go, he had an attack of vestibular disease, which mimics symptoms of stroke. However, he made it through as he knew I needed him (had major surgery in March). I truly feel that he had held on for as long as he did because he knew I needed him here with me. However, yesterday, Tuesday, October 11th, at 7:45, it was time for him to go and be at peace. I am not a religious person by any means, but I believe his soul went to Heaven, or at the very least, somewhere where he isn't in pain. I hope to meet him again someday.

I love you so much, my beautiful boy, I will miss you every single day, and I will hold on to the amazing memories we will always share.
