WHAT DOES ADOPTION MEAN TO ME.?
TO ANSWER THIS QUESTION I FIRST NEED TO REFLECT BACK TO WHERE IT ALL BEGAN. I WAS BORN IN ENSANADA MEXICO INTO A PUPPY MILL... I DID NOT KNOW MY MOM VERY LONG AS I WAS TAKEN FROM HER VERY EARLY. BUT WHAT I REMEMBER IS ALWAYS BEING CROWDED AND HUNGRY. THERE WERE THESE MEAN PEOPLE WHO SLAPPED US AND KICKED OVER THE CAGES WE WERE IN .IT WAS SO FRIGHTING.ONCE I HAD MY PAW SLAMMED IN A CAGE DOOR.
WHEN I WAS ABOUT 6 MONTHS OLD I WAS TAKEN TO A ROOM WHERE THEY TATTOOED ON MY EAR.THIS EXPLAINED WHERE I WAS HOUSED. IN WHAT ROW WHAT CAGE, .AND WHAT LEVEL I WAS LIVING.
MY DAYS WERE EITHER HOT OR COLD WET OR DRY.BUT ONE THING REMAINED THE SAME I WAS ALWAYS FRIGHTENED BY NOISE. THE ENDLESS YELPS AND ABUSE THAT WAS AN EVERYDAY OCCURRENCE
I WAS NEVER GROOMED OR BATHED AND MY HAIR WAS SO LONG WHEN I WENT POTTY IT STUCK TO MY HIND END.I WAS FLEA INFESTATION & .MATTED AND FULL OF MANGE I HAD TICKS AND A BUSTED UP LEG
THAT HAD BEEN INJURED WHEN I TRIED TO JUMP OUT THE CAGE AN HAD THE DOOR SHUT ON ME.
I LIVED IN THIS HORRIBLE PLACE TILL I WAS 1 YR OLD.
THEN ONE DAY THEY RAIDED THE PLACE THEY CAME IN AND SAVED ALL OF US. THEY COULD NOT SAVE US ALL SOME HAD SUCCUMB TO THE HORRIFIC ABUSE AND NEGLECT.
I WAS THEN TAKING TO FOSTER CARE HERE IT WAS STRANGE TOO. THEY NEVER FIXED MY LEG HOWEVER I WAS FED AND ALLOWED TO RUN FREE IN THE BACK YARD WITH ALL KINDS OF FOSTER DOGS.I LEARNED HOW TO DRINK WATER OFF THE GRASS ON HOT DAYS. THE WATER BOWLS WERE KNOCKED OVER BY THE BIG DOGGIES A LOT SO I HAD TO FIND WATER WHERE I COULD.
THEY WOULD HOSE US OFF AND DRY US WITH TOWELS. AND LET US RUN TILL IT WAS TIME TO GO TO PLACES TO BE SHOWN FOR ADOPTION. THIS WENT ON TILL I WAS ALMOST 3.NO STRUCTURE NO DISCIPLINE I HAD A LITTER OR 2 PUPS WHILE THERE. THEY WERE ADOPTED OUT. YET BY NOW NO ONE WANTED AN ALMOST 3 YR OLD MINIATURE POODLE WHO LOOKED A MESS.WITH NO SOCIAL SKILLS AND NOT HOUSE BROKEN.
THAT WAS UNTIL MY BIRTHDAY JUNE 7 2003 MY 3RD BIRTHDAY. IT FELT LIKE IT WAS GOING TO BE A SPECIAL DAY.WE WERE ALL BATHED AND BROUGHT TO PETCO IN HOPES OF BEING ADOPTED. SEEMED NO ONE EVEN LOOKED AT ME EXCEPT ONE KID WHO LAUGHED AT HOW UGLY I WAS AND HOW PATHETIC I LOOKED.
JUST THEN A LADY WALKED BY ME. I FELT SOMETHING A CONNECTION TO HER I JUST NEEDED TO GET HER TO LOOK DOWN AT ME. OH GOSH IF SHE ONLY LOOKS AT ME I WOULD SURELY GIVE HER ALL THE LOVE I COULD.
MY HEART SKIPPED A BEAT I STOOD UP AND I WHIMPERED MY BEST CRY AND SHE LOOKED DOWN. PICKED ME UP AND ME THREW MY ARMS AROUND HER NECK AND BURIED MY WET LIL NOSE UNDER HER CHIN. OH MY SHE HUGGED ME SO TIGHT, IT WAS LIKE NOTHING I HAD EVER FELT BEFORE IN MY LIFETIME.
FROM THE DISTANCE I HEAR A VOICE YELL NO AUDREY PUT HER DOWN SHE NOT A CHIHUAHUA .WE DON’T WANT A POODLE.
A POODLE THIS IS POODLE .THE LADY WAS STUNNED. OMG I ALWAYS WANTED A POODLE. WELL IT WAS A DONE DEAL FROM THAT DAY ON. THAT LADY AUDREY SHE NEVER PUT ME DOWN LIKE DADDY SAID MATTER FACT SHE HOLDS ME ALL THE TIME NOW. WE STARTED OFF ROUGH IN THE BEGINNING .THE FIRST FEW WEEKS IN MY NEW FIRST FOREVER HOME.I PIDDLED EVERY WHERE .I CHEWED THE ELECTRICAL CORD THE TV CORDS THE WALL TRIM. THE PATIO ENCLOSURES THE CHICKEN WIRE THE COUCH A HUGE HOLE IN THE CARPET THE SHOWER CURTAIN THE TRASH. THE BED SPREAD THE CURTAINS THE BLINDS.YUP I WAS A REGULAR MARLEY DOG.
BUT WHAT WOULD YOU EXPECT I WAS NEVER INDOORS .I DID NOT KNOW HOW TO ACT.
MOM DECIDED SINCE I HAD HORRIBLE SEPARATION ANXIETY TO STAY HOME FOR A MONTH WITH ME. EVERY TIME SHE WENT OUT SHE COME RIGHT BACK TILL I KNEW SHE WOULD NEVER LEAVE ME ALONE.
I STOPPED DESTROYING STUFF AND BEGAN TRUSTING. WE WORK TIRELESSLY ON POTTY TRAINING AND I GOT IT.I LEARNED TO GO WHEN I NEEDED TO GO AND I DID IT OUTSIDE. I WAS LEARNING AND NOT ONCE DID MOM EVER HIT ME YELL AT ME OR GIVE UP ON ME.
AFTER ALL THESE YRS COMING UP ON 6 YRS HERE IN MY FOREVER HOME .I'M LIVING THE PRIVILEGED LIFE .I AM ADORED AND SHOWERED WITH HUGS AND KISSES. I AM NEVER HUNGRY OR FRIGHTENED OR ALONE.ADOPTION TO ME MEANS I FOUND SOMEWHERE I ADORE BEING WITH A FAMILY THAT ADORES ME BEING THERE AND THEY CALL ME THEIR LIL GIRL .I DANCE I AM A BALLERINA I DO TRICKS I RUN I PLAY I AM SO BLESSED .
THANK YOU FOR LISTENING TO MY LONG DIARY. IT ALLOWED ME TO REFLECT BACK ON WHERE I WAS WHAT HAPPENED AND WHERE I AM NOW.AND IT ALL IS BECAUSE A LIL LADY NAMED AUDREY MY MOM PICKED ME UP AND HELD ME IN HER ARMS FROM THAT DAY TILL FOREVER ENDS WE WILL BE IN EACH OTHERS ARMS AS BEST FRIENDS FOR LIFE.
ADOPTION IS LOVING WHAT NO ONE WANTS OR CARES FOR WITH ALL YOU HAVE TO GIVE.AND MORE.
