This past weekend we went and visited Gramma and Grampa, who live 2.5 hours away. They give me lots of kisses and play tug with me. I got to go sniff around on the balcony and bark at the neighbors' dogs too. I was so freaking excited I peed on the rug! Poppa made a little movie starring--you guessed it--ME! Now I'm a big star. I bet my video will get played all over WoofTube too. I hope you like it :).

Woof! My pals copy these rules for your email!

Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Dogs who are tagged, need to post in their Diary the rules & their 7 pawsome facts. Then choose 7 dogs to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to bark them a pmail that they have been tagged and to read your Diary, or, send them a fun Rosette announcing they've been Tagged!

1I have male pattern balding like many B&T boy doxies

2I escaped yesterday, my daddy got in big trouble

3I had a bath after I escaped and daddy didn't have to

4I will not ever tell what I rolled in

5I am a CPE(Certified Poop Eater)and proud of it

6They call me Mister Underfoot

7And for my pal Nucita - my name should be Mayer but my mom is not good at spelling and so it is Meyer, but I am not the only Oscer Meyer Wiener on Dogster so she doesn't feel so bad.

All in the Family

Guess what? I got to visit my aunt, uncle and cousins this week! It was my first time to meet them and I was very comfortable with them. My mom isn't exactly sure of their ages, but they all have gray in their beards (don't tell my aunt and cousin Greta I said that!). My uncle Oscar (same name as me!) is a short-haired red and his sister Gypsy is my (adopted) sister Molly's birth gramma. My aunt Millie is a short-haired black and tan and she and uncle Oscar had two kids, both short-haired black and tan minis, named Corkey (m), who was born with a bent corkscrew tail, and Greta (f). Their (human) mom was out of town so Molly and my (human) parents helped look after them and we got to go along too. We don't have a yard where we live, but our aunt, uncle and cousins do! It's fenced in so mom was comfortable with letting us out to snuffle critters and snack on various droppings. All kinds of neat stuff to explore and sniff. At one point mom was on the couch and all 6 of us doxies were lying around in various draped and human positions next to her. She said it looked like a doxie explosion went off and the way everyone was lying around was how we landed. Mom had to help uncle Oscar and cousin Corkey up onto the couch `cuz they're kinda (extremely!) chubby. Aunt Millie and cousin Greta are also full-figured gals, but mom says they all look like adorable little bulldogs.

I heard mom and dad talking about dropping us off with (human) grampa Ted on Sunday overnight to Monday. Dad said he was surprising mom and taking her away somewhere for a nice dinner. Mom is dying to know where, but he won't give her ANY hints. Usually mom says dad can't lie to save his life, but dad's playing it smart and just keeps telling her he won't disclose any other information. Mom's not completely thrilled about this, because she wants to know what to pack. Dad did say one nice outfit and then something casual. Mom keeps insisting she needs to know if she should bring something for if it's cool or extra hot, does she need sensible walking shoes or what?!? I guess Molly and I will find out after they get back. Even though it sounds like we're going to get left out of some type of food event, we are excited to visit with grampa Ted and Molly's (birth) mom, Isabella (Izzy), and our cousins Patton (aka Patty McFatty, a huge doofy lovable black lab mix) and Buster (a somewhat 'fragrant' mid-sized beagle-looking bloodhound mix). We also get to run around in their huge fenced in yard, which is wooded and fun to explore. It's so nice to spend time with family :)

P.S. Our 2nd Dachshund Meetup group is getting together in ONE week (the 22nd)!! The first one was loads of fun. Can't wait!

Yippy skippy! Guess what?! Today mom and dad took me and my sister Molly to our very first dachshund meetup! Yep that's right. First one ever. A brand new group just started in the Gainesville/Ocala area and met up right by our home. There were two other weenies there. One was a red and white piebald and the other was a black and tan dapple. They were lots of fun. We ran around and sniffed each others' butts. The other parents there were really nice and brought HOMEMADE cookies that were shaped just like us!! Boy were those good! We even got to bring some extras home! Whenever a big dog would come over we would all gang up on `em and show `em who's dog park they were at. We chased tennis balls and bounced around and had a really good time until the rain came and then it poured! I was hoping since we got soaked that that would count as our bath, but we got put in the tub when we got home :( Oh well. Now we're all clean and warm and smell nice. Today was definitely worth taking a bath. There's already another meetup in the works for July! Yay! Can't wait!

Things That Make Me Uniquely Oscar

1. I like to sit on the top edge of the sofa with my butt nestled right up next to your head.
2. I like to jump and bounce and run in the house. This makes the sofa and loveseat cushions slide around so sometimes when I jump, I just catch the edge of the cushion and fall off. I also dive onto the couch and bounce off the back cushion and then onto the seat cushion and then right back on the floor where I started. Not quite sure how that happens.
3. I like to burrow around under the upright cushions and next to or under the seat cushions. I am being stealthy and sneaking up on my pretend prey.
4. I am growing up more each day. I've been practicing to become big dog around here by barking at absolutely nothing at all at any random time the urge strikes and sometimes I am just looking at the wall when it happens.
5. I am always careful to keep a close eye on my backend while I am doing my business. I don't know why, but it just seems like the right thing to do.
6. I am becoming more and more ferocious. When I think no one is looking I chomp my mouth down on a toy and shake my head vigorously from side to side. I see my sister Molly do this. I am just imitating her. She barks too and mom and dad tell her to be quiet. When I bark they giggle. What's that about?
7. I don't like going outside when it's wet and rainy. Do I look like a duck? The worst part is after we come in and I get rolled onto my back and rubbed to death by that scratchy towel. Because my life is in jeopardy I kick all my feet in different directions, I try to gnaw on whatever is in reach, I roll around, I snort, and I try to get away. I think I'm making it very clear that I don't like getting toweled off. Not one bit.
8. I like to snack on weird non-snack stuff. What's the harm in one dried out beetle exoskeleton? Buttons have vitamins! I was just licking the lint off my nose. That twist tie was tasty to me. Paper is fiber! Oh, are the arms not supposed to be chewed off that toy? Mmmmmmm pine cones! What's an ant? Oh goody-dried bird poop! Socks come in pairs? Yum! I'm not sure what to make of this onion. This dry eraser cap is great! I wasn't sure when I'd get my chops on a AAA battery again...
9. I don't mind wearing clothes. Not one bit as long as I can stick my feet out the neck hole.
10. I love a good chase: Ooh a squirrel! Ooh a leaf! Ooh the shadow of an overflying bird! Ooh an ant! Ooh a lizard! Ooh an ice cube! Ooh the cursor on your laptop monitor!
11. I define giving kisses as slobbing my tongue way up your nose. Rinse. Repeat.
12. I think bungee jumping looks neat, but repeated personal experience tells me that it's safer to leap right onto your ovaries-wheeeee!
13. If I curl up next to you and you are using your laptop I must somehow be touching the keyboard. Sometimes it's just an ear and sometimes I like to lick the buttons. If I put my paw on there, don't bother moving it `cuz it's going right back where I had it. Ditto if I stand on some keys. If you need me to get down, just say the word and I'll leap right across the keys onto the floor. Once I pushed the hibernate button hehehe - I'm neat!
14. I like to savor treats and cookies. I'll just leave `em around. Eventually I'll get to them if I don't forget all about them.
15. When mom and dad say 'bedtime' my sister runs in the opposite direction. I just go right into my crate, which I love!
16. Sometimes mom and dad call me 'Pee-Boy', isn't that terrible? It's not like I pee in the house every day, but I do like to sprinkle just a little and make sure all the plumbings working right before we go outside.
17. If mom and dad say 'stay' then I sit. Sometimes I lie down or stretch out on my belly. When they're not looking I scoot toward them a little. If they catch me, they say 'stay' again and I go back to where I was. Then we re-enact this whole charade all over again. Sometimes several times in a row.
18. My sister is older than me, but she's a runt. I'm bigger and more scary so I just let her take whatever I am playing with or eating. You know, just to be nice.
19. If you use the bathroom, I'll wait outside the door. Sometimes I whimper a little to remind you I'm waiting, especially when you're in there forever! It's better if you just leave the door open. This way I can put my front paws on your knee and try to snuffle your pants. We're all family, what's the big deal?
20. Long after I've finished off the contents of my food bowl, I like to lie down with my face in my bowl and I just lick and lick and lick. Can't beat a food bowl that doubles as a pillow and a drool pan AND smells like kibble!

Vacation at the Beach

Boy oh boy did I have fun at the beach! My family rented a place at St. Augustine beach and we stayed for 5 fun-filled days. This is my sister Molly's second trip to the beach cuz she went last year for the Memorial Day weekend. Mom and Dad think this might have been my first trip to the beach since I was kinda scared of the rolling foam that came in and went out. We had to wear this icky orange floaty vest, but they were too big and my big "muffin" feet kept getting tangled in the mesh underlining. Once I got to go in without the vest it was much more fun. Dad said I was a natural at swimming even though when he would let me go, I would head straight for the shore. When I swim my tail turns into a propeller and helps me get where I want to go. I discovered seagulls and they are so fun to chase! We got to take lots of walks and chase our rubber bouncey ball, but at the end we had to get hosed off, which wasn't so fun. Mom got us new treats to try out; I really liked the chicken jerky YUM! In addition to sniffing and exploring a new (temporary rental) home, I loved to jump and roll in the springy grass and, even better, there were bunnies to get excited about. Mom said she never heard of those kind of beach bunnies. At the beginning of our trip, I ate and snuffled more sand than I ever care to, but by the end I was only munching dried out sea creature carcasses and select sea shells. I didn't expect to see so many other doggies and their families, but there were lots of `em! One of my favorite things about the beach was the really high bed that Molly could barely get up onto. My legs are longer so I could jump right up and cuddle with Mom. I know I'm special, but that was an extra treat.
