One thing after another...September 16th 2007 11:43 am[ Leave A Comment ] Well baby girl is all well now & is back to her old self. However, we noticed a rised up area on her back that we thought was maybe where they had stuck her with a needle, but the area got larger & eventually busted. We had no idea what it was. Soooo the vet put her on antibiotics & we treated it with wound dressing spray & washed the area with sulfadine once a day. Finally after the area scabbed & peeled off several times, it finally started healing up. Her hair is starting to grow back there now & she feels SO much better!!! :)

Recovery after almost losing my baby to spaying....August 19th 2007 10:11 am[ Leave A Comment ] Well baby girl is doing so much better!!! She is getting her energy back & looking good! Tomorrow she gets her stitches out! I will be so glad when she completely healed up and is 100% again so she can play and be happy.
Please read before you spay!!!August 12th 2007 11:14 am[ Leave A Comment ] I am writing this diary entry to inform animal lovers about a risk in spaying so that they won't have to go through what I went through on Friday August 10th. We took our female pitbull to get spayed. We decided to do this for several reasons, 1 it is hard to find good homes for pitbulls. 2 we won't ever have to put her in a pen cuz it doesn't work anyway, she does anything & everything to get out cuz she wants to be inside by us. 3 she had a litter of 10 pups & we figure we could always get a pup from one of her pups & still have a part of her. So with all that in mind, we decided to get her spayed. She was in heat, but NOBODY told me that there was a high risk doing a spay procedure while in heat. Had I been told this, I would have waited to get it done. Instead, we almost lost our baby girl. They had to operate on her twice. On the second surgery she was reopened cuz she was failing. Her body temp had dropped & she wasn't responding right. They had to do a longer abdominal incision in her to get all of the blood that was oozing out. She ended up being transported to Hattiesburg to the ER vet that has 24/7 hour monitoring. We rushed up to see her before she was transported thinking that may be the last time we see her. I felt ate up with guilt, like it was my fault for getting it done. The whole night none of us really got any sleep, worried sick. At 10 that night the ER vet called & said she was doing well. The next morning she looked as if she had perked up & all vitals were good. We got to go pick up our baby girl. We were so happy & it was a sigh of relief for us. She isn't out of the woods yet though. Somebody has to be with her at all times. We can't leave her alone. We have to watch her body temp & watch for any bleeding & make sure she doesn't lick the stitches. So we have her in a room and we each take turns with her so nobody ever leaves her side.
Puppies!!!!March 7th 2007 7:17 pm[ Leave A Comment ] On 3/4/07 Kadie delivered her first litter of pups. We were so nervous for her hoping all would go well & it did. Our baby girl did great & delivered 10 healthy babies that are absolutely beautiful!!! We surely wasn't expecting 10 out of a first litter LOL. It is gonna be hard selling these babies cuz I have to admit we are already attached, who wouldn't be! :)
